Keyes Lake Campground Introduce
For local camping enthusiasts seeking a year-round "camping near me" destination in Wisconsin, Keyes Lake Campground, located at 4918 WI-101, Florence, WI 54121, USA, offers a range of amenities and activities. You can contact them at (715) 528-4907 or +1 715-528-4907 for reservations and inquiries. Based on available reviews, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of both the positive aspects and a significant negative experience reported by one guest regarding pet policies.
The environment of Keyes Lake Campground is described as "nice" with "large sights" that are beneficially "separated by trees." This suggests a campground that offers a degree of privacy and a more natural setting compared to campgrounds with closely packed sites. The presence of trees can also provide shade during warmer months, enhancing the comfort of your "camping near me" experience. The campground is situated across the road from Keyes Lake itself, providing convenient access to swimming opportunities. Additionally, the area features a ski/tubing hill and a frisbee golf course, indicating a variety of recreational activities available in the vicinity.
Keyes Lake Campground offers a range of services and features to accommodate different types of campers. The availability of both campsites with electric and water hookups caters well to RV travelers, as noted by a guest who stayed with a 30ft trailer and reported "no problems with power or leveling." For those seeking more structured accommodation, the campground also has "5 or 6 cabins" available for rent. The fact that the campground is "open year around" is a significant advantage for those looking for "camping near me" options in all seasons, allowing for winter camping or cabin stays.
Essential amenities at Keyes Lake Campground include "clean" bathrooms and the convenience of laundry facilities, which are highly valued by campers on longer trips. A camp store is also available, offering "needed supplies," potentially saving campers a trip into town for basic necessities. The hosts are described as "very friendly and helpful," which can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and local information.
Beyond the immediate campground, Keyes Lake offers swimming, and the nearby ski/tubing hill transforms into a recreational area for other activities during the off-season, including the opportunity to climb its 169 steps for a "beautiful" view from the top. The presence of "lots of ATV trails" in the area is a significant draw for off-road vehicle enthusiasts looking for "camping near me" with direct access to these trails.
However, it is crucial to address a very negative review concerning the campground's pet policy. One guest reported being "kicked out" during the 4th of July weekend due to their dog barking at someone. They claimed that despite their dog being leashed on their site, they were given no opportunity to explain and were immediately asked to leave. Furthermore, this guest alleged that they were charged for the full duration of their intended stay, plus additional charges for items they did not purchase, totaling an extra $100. This reviewer described the behavior as "absolutely ridiculous and disgusting." This experience highlights a significant issue regarding the campground's handling of pet-related situations and billing disputes.
Given this starkly negative feedback, local users considering Keyes Lake Campground, especially those traveling with pets, should exercise caution and seek clarification on the campground's pet policies and procedures for handling noise complaints. It would be advisable to inquire specifically about the rules regarding pet behavior, the process for addressing complaints, and the campground's policy on refunds and additional charges in the event of early departure.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Local users interested in staying at Keyes Lake Campground should contact them directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about seasonal rates, availability, cabin rentals, and any specific promotions they might be offering. It would also be prudent to ask detailed questions about their pet policies and billing practices to avoid potential misunderstandings or negative experiences similar to the one reported in the review.
In conclusion, Keyes Lake Campground offers several appealing features for those seeking "camping near me" in Florence, WI, including spacious, tree-separated sites with electric and water, cabin rentals, year-round operation, clean facilities, and access to various recreational activities like swimming, hiking the ski hill, and nearby ATV trails. However, a significant negative review regarding a strict and seemingly punitive pet policy, coupled with allegations of unfair billing practices, should give potential visitors pause, especially those traveling with dogs. It is strongly recommended that prospective guests contact the campground directly to obtain clear information on their policies and procedures before making a reservation to ensure a positive and stress-free camping experience.

Keyes Lake Campground Reviews
NOT DOG FRIENDLY!! 4th of July Weekend. Got kicked out for our dog barking at someone. They were allowed to yell at us, call us names, ex… and WE were kicked out. Our dog was on her chain and on our plot. We were given no chance to explain our side of the story, and weren’t given any chance to stay. They kicked us out, charged us full price for the time we were supposed to stay there, PLUS they even added additional charges to our bill including shirts, hats, and sweatshirts that we had not purchased bringing our total up an extra $100 or so. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting behavior.
Aug 01, 2024 · Eve HooverNice campground. Large sights, and separated by trees. A quiet and restful campground. 5 or 6 cabins. Sights have electric and water. Open year around. Bathrooms are clean, plus laundry available. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Camp store has needed supplies. Things to do-- miniature golf, ice cream, and swimming at Keyes Lake which is across the road, ski/tubing hill and frisbee golf, lots of ATV trails. We climb the ski hill (169 steps one way). The view at the top is beautiful. Stayed here with a 30ft trailer. Would stay here again.
Aug 13, 2023 · David WolfeI made a reservation for our 45' toy hauler. This weekend we checked the site on our SxS and determined there was not enough room to get out of the drive in/drive out site that was currently only drive in (the exit had rocks blocking the drive). The reservations were for a month out...no worries. I tried to cancel my reservations and was told my deposit would not be refunded and my driving skills were questioned. Thanks! I'll find some where else to stay."So because you aren't a more capable driver we should give you a refund, maybe you should have a rig that you are more capable hauling.Other campgrounds have similar policies, and our customers respect our rules/policies. So if someone reading a bad review you post doesn't understand this, they are not a customer we want at the campground."Life is too short for this kind of non-sense. Just posting this because people should not have to tolerate this kind of behavior. The camp ground was out nothing. I was told I'd fit. I won't. I asked for my deposit back and instead got insulted. You had a month's notice. Are you proud of the way you handle this situation? I know I'm out my deposit, but I handled the situation and you with the dignity and respect that everyone deserves.
Jul 11, 2022 · Andre NitkowskiBest campground in northern Wisconsin, they have trails ,ice cream, mini golf and a fishing lake across the road. Just down the road is Florence a beautiful old town and Iron mountain Michigan is close also great time there.
Aug 30, 2023 · James GrantLovely place with very nice owners who make you feel very welcome. The campgrounds are across the road from Keyes lake so it's a short walk to fish and swim. We got the group site and it only had one power box so beware if your group has a lot of pop ups/trailers, and we were very disappointed that cosmic golf was only offered 4 days out of the year (which we didn't get to stay and play).
