Kings Landing Kampground Introduce
For local residents in the Columbiaville, Michigan area, seeking "camping near me," Kings Landing Kampground, located at 121 Kings Landing Dr, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While one review highlights the campground's beautiful setting and amenities like a beach and store, another recounts a negative experience with the management's communication and organization. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Kings Landing Kampground based on these contrasting perspectives, allowing local users to make informed decisions.
Environment and Atmosphere:
One reviewer describes Kings Landing Kampground as "so beautiful it’s a place to escape reality an enjoy the beach they have." This paints a picture of a scenic environment centered around a lake with a beach area. The presence of a beach suggests opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and other lakeside activities, which can be a significant draw for those seeking a water-oriented camping experience when looking for "camping near me." The phrase "escape reality" implies a setting that offers a peaceful and potentially immersive natural environment, allowing visitors to disconnect from their everyday routines.
However, the other review presents a starkly different initial experience. The reviewer recounts being "immediately yelled at" upon arrival for a minor traffic infraction (going 8 mph in a 5 mph zone) and then for not paying despite the absence of staff at the check-in. This description suggests a potentially unwelcoming initial interaction with the management and raises concerns about communication and customer service within the campground. The reviewer's perception of the encounter as "hostile" and occurring in front of children is particularly concerning for those considering a family-friendly "camping near me" option.
The contrasting reviews indicate that while the natural environment of Kings Landing Kampground might be appealing, the atmosphere and interactions with management could be unpredictable and potentially negative for some visitors.
Services and Features:
The positive review mentions several key features of Kings Landing Kampground. The presence of "grills where you can cook for the family" is a significant amenity, allowing campers to enjoy outdoor cooking and shared meals. This is a common and valued feature in many campgrounds, enhancing the overall camping experience.
The mention of "a little sweet store next to the beach" suggests the availability of on-site conveniences where campers can purchase snacks, drinks, and possibly other essential items. This can be particularly useful for families or those who may have forgotten certain supplies. The proximity of the store to the beach adds to its convenience for those spending time by the water.
The review also notes that "a day pass isn’t expensive," which implies that the campground may offer options for day visitors who wish to enjoy the facilities, particularly the beach. This could be relevant for local residents who are not looking for overnight camping but still want to spend a day by the lake.
On the other hand, the negative review highlights a lack of organization, specifically mentioning the absence of staff at the check-in upon arrival. This raises concerns about the efficiency and accessibility of the campground's services, at least during certain times. The hostile communication experienced by the reviewer also suggests potential issues with customer service and management protocols.
The information available does not specify the types of campsites offered (e.g., tent, RV), the availability of hookups (electricity, water, sewer), or the presence of other common campground amenities such as restrooms, showers, or recreational facilities beyond the beach and grills. Local users will need to seek further information on these aspects if they are crucial to their camping needs.
Relevance to "Camping Near Me":
For local residents in the Columbiaville area searching for "camping near me," Kings Landing Kampground presents a lakeside option with a beach, grills, and a small store. These features could be appealing for families and individuals looking for a recreational camping experience focused on enjoying the water. The availability of day passes might also attract local visitors seeking a day trip to the lake.
However, the negative review regarding rude and disorganized management is a significant factor that potential visitors should consider. The initial interaction described was highly negative and could deter those seeking a welcoming and well-managed campground experience. The discrepancy between the two reviews suggests that experiences at Kings Landing Kampground might vary, or that there may be inconsistencies in the management's approach.
Local users should weigh the potential benefits of the beautiful location and amenities against the reported issues with management and organization. It might be prudent to seek additional reviews or information from other sources to get a more comprehensive understanding of the typical visitor experience at Kings Landing Kampground.

The availability of day passes also provides an option for a shorter visit to enjoy the lake and its facilities.

Kings Landing Kampground Reviews
I will never go here again. I went here to meet my sister & her kids. AS SOON AS I PARKED & got out of the car with my 11 year old nephew I was immediately yelled at! Was told I was driving too fast (the speed limit is 5 I was going 8) then was yelled at for not paying even though there was NOONE in sight at the check in!! Please learn to communicate nicely & do not come at people hostile especially when there’s kids around!! They are so RUDE and unorganized

Oct 07, 2024 · Star GriggsNew owners, trying to make it an enjoyable place for the family. Needs some work, but in time, will be nice. could use the seaweed to be cleaned out a bit more, not a very large swimming area. Nice people, close to home.
Aug 05, 2018 · Laura KillingerI was fortunate to find they have opened some sites for tent campers this year. And to get one of them the Friday morning before the Memorial Day weekend, I felt pretty lucky. It had been nearly 33 years since I came to this kampground (as it's referred to) with my family as a boy. It's changed a bit. However, it still has amazing pan fishing and some sport fish to be had for those who enjoy fishing.Lots of kids. This has a lot to do with the kampground being a permanent getaway for a good portion of the folks here.My mother has a place just like this at the Canadian Lakes campground in Stanwood, MI.Family friendly, family operated. Have a nice little store for the campgrounds. They'll soon carry a lot more than what they had over the weekend was the assurance I got from the manager, Jesse (Jessie?). Her and her staff are very helpful and very reliable when it comes to taking care of everyone. For now, they have a little of all the immediate or important essentials. Snacks, sundries, and drinks. A few extra housewares are available in case you forgot silverware and such. The old cotton candy machine is likely going to be a kid favorite when/if it gets going. The bathroom and showers are maintained well. The boat rentals are coming as soon as DNR shows up for inspection. The fishing dock will be in the water shortly. Definitely want to spend time here when I can for a great destination to do such just outside of Flint 45 minutes. About an hour and 20 from Warren where I grew up and my current neighbors for the weekend hail.If you can't hang with the "it takes a village" approach to all the young kids 4 and up, well, this may not be the place for you. But as a weekend warrior Dad that would like kids for my 1 to play with, it's a goldmine. The old school playground is perfect. The one-way streets are easy for the kids and all to navigate. Be it by foot, bike, or golf cart. It gets quiet on a full capacity night by 11:00-12:00. But all in all, it's community camping. Great friendly folks.Firewood was a good deal. $20 got me 15-20 nice pieces. Some could be cut in two, so bring a splitter or hatchet. Make it last even longer.
