Kyen Campground Introduce
For individuals and groups searching for "Camping Near Me" and considering options in the Ukiah, CA area, Kyen Campground is a location that warrants careful and objective evaluation. Situated at 1275 Marina Dr, Ukiah, CA 95482, USA, and contactable via phone at (707) 467-4200 or +1 707-467-4200, Kyen Campground presents a complex picture based on available public feedback, with both potential and significant concerns that prospective campers should be aware of.
The environment of Kyen Campground offers what some might consider a raw, natural setting. One review mentions "Good views," suggesting potential scenic qualities, and the location near 1275 Marina Dr implies proximity to a body of water, which is often a desirable feature for campers. The presence of "animal activity in the woods all night" indicates a natural, undeveloped environment, which can appeal to those seeking a more rustic camping experience. However, this animal activity was noted as "not comfortable" by a reviewer, suggesting potential issues with wildlife management or secure food storage for campers. The campground was also described as "not well lit or well labeled," which can pose navigational and safety challenges, especially at night. Furthermore, there was a report of a homeless man in a separate upper parking lot, which, while stated as "wasn't an issue," could be a consideration for some campers regarding personal comfort and security. Despite these points, the location's potential for natural beauty and recreation is acknowledged, but it seems to be viewed as a "last resort" rather than a primary choice for many.
In terms of services and features, Kyen Campground offers basic camping facilities. Essential services typically include campsites and restroom facilities. According to reviews, the "Camp areas bathrooms were pretty clean," which is a positive note for basic hygiene. However, the "Fishing areas bathrooms were terrible with having been open all night," and were described as being like "what I would imagine a prison has. .Metal facilities," leading to "Bugs everywhere." This stark contrast in cleanliness between different restroom facilities is a significant concern. Shower rooms were also noted as "not very good." While the "Fishing area looked great," suggesting potential for fishing activities, the overall condition of the associated amenities detracts from the experience. The presence of "Tire spikes... at exit to prevent entry" at night, which are "not as obvious that they are there," is a critical safety and navigational concern, indicating a need for clearer signage and better lighting at entry/exit points.
Perhaps the most critical aspect of Kyen Campground, based on the available information, pertains to safety and security. One review describes an extremely disturbing and frankly alarming series of events during a stay. This included finding a "dead person laying in a body bag for several hours next to our camp site," followed by campsite managers or residents "who lived there were drunk and fist fighting" which the campers had to "brake them up on multiple occasions within 2 days." Most shockingly, the campers were "woken up at 3am to our car alarm going off cause our vehicle had some how spontaneously combusted and was completely engulfed in flames and nobody knows how or what started the fire." This account, if accurate, paints a picture of a profoundly unsafe and unmanaged environment, far beyond typical camping inconveniences. Such incidents would raise serious questions about the overall safety protocols, security measures, and the suitability of the campground for public use. While this is a single, highly unusual review, its content is so severe that it cannot be overlooked in an objective introduction.
Considering the promotional information, or rather, the lack thereof and the overriding negative feedback, Kyen Campground faces significant challenges in attracting campers searching for "Camping Near Me." While it might offer "Good views" and a "Location has good potential," the overwhelming concerns regarding cleanliness, safety, management of disruptive behavior, and the profoundly disturbing incidents reported by a past camper, indicate that it is perceived by at least one reviewer as "overpriced for what it is" and "not a first option for me in this area." For any prospective camper, the decision to stay at Kyen Campground would necessitate a thorough investigation into the current conditions, management's response to past incidents, and any implemented safety improvements. Without substantial and verifiable changes addressing these severe concerns, Kyen Campground appears to be a location where potential visitors should exercise extreme caution and consider alternatives in the area.

Kyen Campground Reviews
Campground was not well lit or well labeled. It is overpriced for what it is. There was only 2 other families there. There was animal activity in the woods all night so that was not comfortable. Fishing areas bathrooms were terrible with having been open all night. Bugs everywhere because of that. Camp areas bathrooms were pretty clean. Shower rooms were not very good. Camp area bathrooms were about what I would imagine a prison has. .Metal facilitiesFishing area looked great although we could not stay to do so.One homeless man stayed in the separate upper parking lot. It wasn’t an issue.Good views. Location has good potential but seems to be a last resort.Careful on entry. Tire spikes present at exit to prevent entry. At night it isn’t as obvious that they are there. This would not be a first option for me in this area.
Jul 09, 2024 · Marquis SmithWhen we pulled into our camp site there was a dead person laying in a body bag for several hours next to our camp site and then the people who managed the camp site next to space #11 who lived there were drunk and fist fighting and we had to brake them up on multiple occasions within 2days... Than we woken up at 3am to our car alarm going off cause our vehicle had some how spontaneously combusted and was completely engulfed in flames and nobody knows how or what started the fire...HAPPY 4TH of July🤦
Jul 05, 2024 · 707Lane SplitterBeach was not good/clean for kids playing. But lake is perfect for kayaking and boating. There were a bunch of firewoods (cut trees in the campground) free to use.
