Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" with the added benefit of lake access and marina services, Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground, situated at 14353 Hermitage Rd, Harrisville, NY 13648, USA, presents a waterfront option. They can be reached by phone at (678) 234-1873 or mobile at +1 678-234-1873. Lake Bonaparte itself is described by a reviewer as "wonderful," suggesting a potentially attractive natural environment for lake-related activities. However, it's important for prospective local users to consider all available information, including recent customer feedback, when evaluating this campground for their needs.
The Environment: Lakeside Beauty on Lake Bonaparte
The primary environmental feature of Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground is its location on the shores of Lake Bonaparte. The positive review highlighting the "wonderful lake" suggests that the area boasts scenic beauty and the inherent appeal of a waterfront setting. Lake Bonaparte likely offers opportunities for various water-based activities such as boating, fishing, and possibly swimming, contributing to the overall attractiveness of the location for those seeking a lakeside camping experience. The surrounding area of Harrisville, NY, is part of the natural landscape of upstate New York, which could include forests and other natural attractions, enhancing the overall environment of the campground.
The presence of a marina in the campground's name indicates that it caters to boaters, potentially offering services such as boat launches, docks, and possibly boat rentals or supplies. This would be a significant environmental and amenity factor for those who enjoy spending time on the water. Campers can likely expect views of the lake and easy access for boating and other aquatic pursuits directly from the campground.
Services and Amenities: Marina Facilities and Camping Basics
Based on the name and the limited review information, Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground likely offers a combination of marina services and typical campground amenities. These may include:
- Marina Services: As indicated by the name, expect facilities for boaters, such as boat launches, docking spaces, and potentially fuel or maintenance services.
- Campgrounds: The presence of "Campground" in the name suggests sites for RVs and/or tents. The nature of these sites (e.g., hookups, size) is not detailed in the provided information.
- Septic System: One negative review mentions the installation of two new septic systems, indicating that the campground has facilities for waste management, likely necessary for RV hookups and general sanitation.
- Electrical System: The same review refers to electrical repairs, suggesting the availability of electrical hookups at some or all campsites.
However, it is crucial to note the serious concerns raised in the negative review regarding the permitting of major repairs, including electrical and septic systems, and the absence of a safety plan. These allegations, if accurate, could have implications for the safety and regulatory compliance of the campground. Prospective local users should consider these points and potentially seek further information or clarification before making a decision.
The review also mentions the campground being "VERY Expensive" and accuses the owners of continually raising prices. This suggests that while the location might be desirable, the cost could be a significant factor for local users to consider when comparing options for "camping near me."
Features and Activities: Lake Recreation and Potential Concerns
The primary features and potential activities at Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground are likely centered around Lake Bonaparte itself:
- Boating: With a marina on-site, boating is likely a major feature, offering opportunities for leisurely cruises, watersports, and exploring the lake.
- Fishing: Lake Bonaparte is described as "wonderful," which could imply good fishing opportunities. Campers with boats or access to the shoreline might enjoy fishing.
- Waterfront Access: The campground's location provides direct access to the lake, allowing for swimming (if permitted and safe), kayaking, or simply enjoying the views.
However, the negative review raises significant concerns that could impact the overall experience. The alleged lack of permits for major repairs, including electrical and septic systems, and the absence of a safety plan are serious issues that potential visitors should be aware of. These concerns could outweigh the positive aspects of the lakefront location for some users.
Promotional Information and Important Considerations for Local Users
For local users in the "camping near me" category who are specifically looking for a campground with lake and marina access on what is described as a "wonderful lake," Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground in Harrisville, NY, is an option to consider. The potential for boating, fishing, and enjoying the waterfront could be appealing to many. You can contact them at (678) 234-1873 or +1 678-234-1873 for inquiries about availability and rates.
However, it is imperative for prospective local users to be fully aware of the serious allegations raised in a recent customer review. The claims of the campground being "VERY Expensive" and the accusations regarding major repairs being done without permits (including electrical and septic systems) and the lack of a safety plan are significant concerns that should not be ignored. These issues could affect the cost-effectiveness, safety, and overall quality of the camping experience.
Before making a reservation, local users are strongly advised to:
- Inquire about pricing: Confirm the current rates and understand all associated costs, keeping in mind the reviewer's comment about the campground being expensive.
- Ask about permits and safety: If possible, inquire about the permits for recent infrastructure work and whether a safety plan is in place. While the campground may not directly address negative reviews, asking these questions can provide insight into their operational practices.
- Seek recent reviews from other sources: Look for more recent reviews on other platforms to get a broader perspective on the current state of the campground and its services.
- Consider alternatives: Explore other campgrounds in the "camping near me" category in the Harrisville or surrounding areas to compare prices, amenities, and recent customer experiences.
While Lake Bonaparte itself is described as wonderful, the negative feedback regarding cost and alleged operational issues should give local users pause and prompt thorough due diligence before choosing this campground for their next "camping near me" getaway. The potential for a great lake experience might be overshadowed by concerns about pricing, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Summary of Concerns Based on Provided Information:
- High Cost: The campground is described as "VERY Expensive" with continually rising prices.
- Alleged Permitting Issues: Major repairs, including electrical and septic systems, are claimed to have been done without permits.
- Lack of Safety Plan: A reviewer states that there is no safety plan in place.
Local users should weigh the potential benefits of the lakefront location and marina services against these significant concerns when considering Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground for their "camping near me" needs.

Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground Reviews
VERY Expensive. The Halls are very greedy, and all they keep doing is raising prices. Major repairs are done without permits, including electrical and septic systems. No safety plan in place. My family will not be returning this year. Two new septic's were installed 5 summers ago, and there are no permits on file. One where the first camper is on the hill and one in front of log cabin.
