Lake Joy Campground Introduce
Looking for the perfect camping escape right here in your local area? Situated in the charming town of Belmont, Wisconsin, Lake Joy Campground offers a diverse range of experiences for individuals, families, and groups seeking an outdoor adventure. Conveniently located at 24192 Lake Joy Ln, Belmont, WI 53510, USA, this campground provides a welcoming environment with access to various amenities and recreational opportunities. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the outdoor scene, Lake Joy Campground aims to cater to your needs.
Nestled in a picturesque setting, Lake Joy Campground boasts a tranquil environment centered around the beautiful Lake Joy. The natural surroundings provide a serene backdrop for your camping experience, offering opportunities for relaxation and connection with nature. Imagine waking up to the gentle sounds of the lake and enjoying the scenic views right from your campsite. While specific details about the terrain and vegetation aren't extensively available in the provided reviews, the mention of lakeside views suggests a pleasant and potentially varied landscape, with some sites offering direct access or scenic overlooks of the water.
Lake Joy Campground offers a variety of services to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay. According to customer feedback, the staff is generally considered friendly and helpful, particularly when it comes to assisting campers with navigating to their designated sites. The campground accommodates different types of camping setups, including tent camping, pop-up campers, and larger RVs, indicating a range of site sizes and potentially varying levels of hookups, although specific details on electrical, water, and sewer connections for RVs are not provided in the reviews. It's advisable to inquire directly about site-specific amenities when making your reservation.
One reviewer noted an interesting layout in some areas, particularly near the office, store, and game room, describing the sites as being on a somewhat terraced lawn. Other sites, like the one along the shrubbery at the top of the hill, offered a more secluded experience with nice lake views, at least during the quieter midweek period. This suggests that the campground offers a mix of site types to suit different preferences, from those seeking proximity to amenities to those desiring more privacy. However, it's worth noting the potential for increased density and altered views as the campground fills up, especially on weekends.
For essential supplies, Lake Joy Campground features a store on-site. While one review mentioned that the store carries only bare minimum items and does not stock milk or bread, it likely offers other necessities for campers. It's always a good idea to come prepared with your main groceries, but the store can be a convenient option for last-minute needs or forgotten items. For a wider selection of groceries and other supplies, the town of Belmont is likely a short drive away.
A significant highlight of Lake Joy Campground appears to be the range of recreational features available. For those looking to cool off and have some fun in the water, the campground provides a swimming area with large inflatables suitable for both kids and adults. This promises hours of entertainment and a refreshing escape during warmer days. Furthermore, the availability of canoes for rent offers a fantastic opportunity to explore Lake Joy at your own pace, enjoy the scenery from a different perspective, and perhaps even do some fishing.
Speaking of fishing, the campground also offers fishing supplies for rent, making it easy for anglers of all levels to try their luck in Lake Joy. Whether you're hoping to catch some local fish species or simply enjoy the tranquility of casting a line, having rental equipment readily available is a great convenience. It's recommended to inquire about any fishing licenses or regulations that may apply in the area.
Beyond the lake activities, Lake Joy Campground boasts a uniquely free game room. This is a significant added value, as it provides entertainment options for all ages without any extra charges. The game room features a variety of classic games, including air hockey, skeetball, billiards, and ping-pong. This indoor space can be a perfect retreat during inclement weather or a fun way to spend evenings after a day of outdoor activities.
For families with children, Lake Joy Campground offers several playgrounds located throughout the grounds. These dedicated play areas provide safe and engaging spaces for kids to burn off energy and socialize. The presence of multiple playgrounds suggests a focus on creating a family-friendly camping environment.
In terms of facilities, the campground offers a bathroom and shower house. One reviewer noted that while the bathroom was clean, the stalls and showers lacked hooks or shelves for hanging clothes and toiletries. This is a practical consideration for campers to be aware of, suggesting the need to bring portable solutions for organizing personal items in these facilities. Additionally, the presence of porta-potties in various locations was mentioned, with a comment about their older appearance. While they provide additional restroom options, campers may prefer to use the main bathroom and shower house when possible.
While the majority of the feedback touches on the positive aspects of the campground, it's important to acknowledge a concerning negative review regarding a booking issue. This customer reported a situation where their seasonal site booking, including signed paperwork and submitted bank information, was allegedly canceled due to "unforeseen circumstances" after the previous renter's camper was still on the site. The reviewer expressed disappointment and perceived unprofessionalism, suggesting the site was potentially sold along with the camper. This incident highlights the importance of clear communication and reliable booking procedures. It is advisable for prospective campers, especially those booking seasonal or long-term stays, to ensure clear confirmation of their reservations and understand the campground's policies regarding site availability and potential changes.
In summary, based on the available information, Lake Joy Campground presents itself as a local camping destination in Belmont, WI, offering a lakeside setting with a range of amenities and recreational activities. The friendly staff, swimming area with inflatables, canoe and fishing supply rentals, free game room, and multiple playgrounds make it particularly appealing for families and those seeking active outdoor experiences. While the store has limited stock and the bathroom facilities could benefit from minor additions, the overall impression is of a campground with a lot to offer. However, the negative booking experience reported by one customer serves as a reminder to ensure thorough communication and confirmation when making reservations. For local users looking for a "camping near me" experience with lake access and family-friendly features, Lake Joy Campground is worth considering, but it's recommended to call them at (608) 762-5150 or +1 608-762-5150 to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, and any current promotional offers to make the most informed decision for your next camping adventure.

Lake Joy Campground Reviews
My family was booked for a seasonal site, signed all paperwork and submitted bank information. The previous renters camper was still at the site at the start season. We were told by the campground that the previous renter was selling their camper and that someone was coming to look at it. We later received an email that the site was no longer available “due to unforeseen circumstances”despite us signing paperwork and sending our bank information. We assume that the camper was sold along with the seasonal site we were already booked for. We’re very disappointed with the unprofessional behavior of the campground staff. We won’t be camping here again nor will we recommend this campground to family/ friends.
May 01, 2025 · Morgan BreinerThe staff is very friendly and helpful with guiding people into their campsites. There are plenty of sites to choose from for tents, pop-ups, and larger RVs. Some of the sites near the office, store, and game room are set up oddly on a somewhat terraced lawn. Our site was along the shrubbery at the top of the hill. We were nearly alone midweek. A nice view of the lake. Close to the bathroom/shower house. Once Friday evening came, the sites near us filled in. Now, our view was of a line of RVs and trucks. Tenters had set up on the leading edge. I am not sure how we could have gotten out first. Firepits seemed to be in odd places. You could easily drive your vehicle into one if not careful. The bathroom is clean. However, stalls and showers had no hooks to hang things to stay dry or shelves to put soap, etc.The store has bare minimum items and does not carry milk or bread. The swimming area had large inflatables for kids or adult to use. There were lots of canoes, fishing supplies to rent. Also the gameroom was uniquely free! All you needed was to sign off on the game parts needed. AirHockey, skeetball, billiards, ping-pong and more. Several playgrounds were placed throughout the grounds. There were also Porta pottys in several locations. They looked to be from the 50s or 60s. Very small looking.
Aug 16, 2023 · Pete ZielinskiFriendly staff, all sites have picnic table and fire ring. Water electric rv hookup but no sewer. Dump station near entrance. LOTS of water toys and special area for younger kids. 12 and under required to wear life preservers. Small camp store. Well maintained atea.
Jun 20, 2022 · Scott AdamsThis is a beautiful setting and the staff were all more than willing to help; but I don’t believe there is a ten foot flat spot in the entire campground.
Jul 06, 2024 · Michael RieseRandomly found this place on a camping app. We decided to try it out. Very friendly staff, the owners were very nice and helpful. Even showed us where the best fishing spots were located and where our dogs could swim. They even let you call the office and have wood delivered to your campsite. We loved it so much, we actually called our friends out to join us. Highly recommend!
