Leo's Key West Campground Introduce
Seeking the perfect spot for RV camping in the 'camping near me' category right here in the beautiful Florida Keys? Leo's Key West Campground, located at 5264 Suncrest Rd, Key West, FL 33040, presents itself as a potential option for local RV enthusiasts. This campground aims to provide a convenient base for exploring the unique charm and attractions of Key West.
According to some visitor feedback, Leo's Key West Campground boasts a staff that is described as exceptionally nice, knowledgeable, and professional. This positive aspect of customer service can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and guidance during your stay. Furthermore, the campground has been noted for its cleanliness and well-organized setup, which are crucial factors for a comfortable and enjoyable visit, especially for those traveling in RVs.
For RV owners, particularly those with larger vehicles, one review highlighted the ease of maneuvering a 40-foot motorhome into a designated space. This suggests that the campground is designed to accommodate a range of RV sizes, which is a significant advantage for those traveling with larger rigs. The reviewer also mentioned that the rates were exceptionally reasonable for the Key West area, which can often be a consideration for budget-conscious travelers looking for 'camping near me' options.
Another notable feature mentioned in the positive feedback is the campground's convenient proximity to food options. Within easy walking distance, campers can find a Mexican restaurant, a Jamaican food truck, and a taco truck. This accessibility to diverse culinary choices adds to the convenience and appeal of the location, allowing campers to easily enjoy local flavors without having to travel far from their RV site.
However, it is important to present a balanced view by also considering the less favorable experiences reported by other visitors. One significant issue raised was the allocation of specific RV lots. A reviewer expressed disappointment with their assigned lot (13B), which had an electric pole situated in the middle of it, obstructing the ability to fully open their RV awning. This highlights the potential for variability in the quality and layout of individual campsites within the campground. Prospective campers might want to inquire about the specific characteristics of their assigned lot in advance to avoid such inconveniences.
Adding to the concerns about the campsite itself, the same reviewer described the grassy area of the lot as very small and uninviting. This lack of comfortable outdoor space detracted from their experience, leading them to stay indoors even when it rained. For many campers, enjoying the outdoor environment is a key aspect of the experience, so the quality and size of the individual lot can significantly impact their satisfaction.
Furthermore, significant drawbacks were reported regarding the campground's facilities. Notably, the reviewer stated that there were no shower facilities available for guests. This is a considerable inconvenience for RV travelers who may prefer or need access to communal showers. Additionally, the laundry facilities were reported to have caused damage to clothing, resulting in the loss of garments. These facility-related issues paint a less favorable picture of the overall amenities offered at Leo's Key West Campground.
Overall, one reviewer described the park as "quite depressing" and felt that the website's aesthetic was misleading, suggesting a potential discrepancy between the online representation and the actual on-site experience. Despite the graciousness of the owner when complaints were raised, the reviewer characterized the customer service as "lackluster" and expressed relief upon departure, stating they would not return. This feedback indicates that while some aspects, like staff friendliness, were positive, other significant factors contributed to a negative overall impression.
The positive mention of proximity to nearby attractions and a scooter rental spot suggests that Leo's Key West Campground can serve as a convenient base for exploring the wider Key West area. This accessibility to local points of interest could be a significant advantage for those looking to experience the vibrant culture and attractions of Key West. However, the reported issues with specific campsites and the lack of or problematic facilities need to be carefully considered alongside this benefit.
Currently, the provided information does not include details about specific services such as water hookups, sewer connections, Wi-Fi availability, or the types of recreational activities offered within the campground itself. Information regarding pet policies, specific rules and regulations, or accessibility for individuals with disabilities is also not available in the given text. Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional offers, seasonal rates, or group camping options that might be relevant for local users.
For local users searching for 'camping near me' and considering Leo's Key West Campground, it is crucial to weigh the positive feedback regarding staff and location against the reported negative experiences concerning specific campsites and the lack of adequate facilities like showers, as well as the issues with the laundry. To obtain a more comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the campground's current offerings and to address the concerns raised in the reviews, it is highly recommended to contact Leo's Key West Campground directly using the provided phone number: (305) 296-5260 or the mobile number: +1 305-296-5260. Leo's Key West Campground Reviews
Leo‘s RV park is the best hidden Gem for parking in your RV in that area. The staff are exceptionally nice, very knowledgeable and extremely professional. The park is extremely clean and well set up. I’m in a 40 foot motorhome and it was easy to maneuver into a space the rates for that area are exceptionally reasonable. The view is great you have food within walking distance. There’s a Mexican restaurant, Jamaican food truck and a taco truck all with an easy walking distance. If you’re going to Key West in an RV I would highly recommend staying at Leo‘s
Apr 13, 2025 · Tom LandisUnfortunately they gave us the worst RV lot which had an electric pole in the middle of it that prevented us from opening the awning. Not the mention the grassy part of the lot was very small and not inviting. As a result we didn’t enjoy any outside time and were cooped up inside when it rained. Be aware of what lot you are getting in advance. 13B is to be avoided. There were no shower facilities and the laundry facilities melted two garments of clothing which I had to throw away.Overall the park was quite depressing. The website aesthetic is misleading. The only thing we enjoyed was proximity to nearby attractions and scooter rental spot. The owner was gracious when we complained but I would say the customer service was lack luster. We were relieved to depart. Will not return.
Jan 23, 2025 · YanikaWe really like this campground. They don't have a pool which we never use anyway so that wasn't a factor. They don't have a bath house either, but with full hookups you don't really need one. They do have a laundry room which we didn't use. They have a beautiful pond and access to the water through Mangrove tunnels right from the campground. There's great kayaking. The site was really nice. We are going back next year. It was a simple four Mile bike ride from Key West.
Feb 12, 2025 · Dale BarrettWe had a terrific weekend stay at Leo’s. Booking was super easy and all online. The property was tidy, organized, well signed, level, and perfectly equipped. We arrived after dark but had no trouble finding our site. The campground was charming and clean. We would happily stay again.
Jan 15, 2025 · kimmers uWe were pleasantly surprised at this campground. The pictures don't give you a good feel for how cute the landscaping is, and how easy it is to walk around and say Hi to the other campers. The adorable little dog park and lake were great places for us to take our poochies. The campground itself is conveniently located and we were able to bike around Stock Island from there. The automated reservation system was quick and efficient and was so much better than some of the other antiquated campgrounds that make you call in to get a spot. This is my new favorite campground to visit Key West.
