Lily Glen Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Ashland, Oregon region that offers a unique experience, particularly if you travel with horses or prefer a more primitive camping setting? Lily Glen Campground, located near Ashland, OR 97520, USA (specific address details may require direct inquiry), presents an intriguing option based on recent customer feedback. This campground appears to cater to those seeking a blend of natural beauty, spaciousness, and specific amenities for equestrian campers and tent enthusiasts.
One of the most striking aspects of Lily Glen Campground, as highlighted by a recent visitor, is its accessibility for large trailers. The reviewer noted that it was "very easy to get our huge trailer into the campground," suggesting well-designed access roads and potentially spacious campsites. This is a significant advantage for campers with larger rigs who often face challenges navigating smaller or more crowded campgrounds. The same reviewer also praised the "wide open" environment, featuring a "beautiful Meadow" where they were able to tie out their horses. This indicates a generous amount of space and a welcoming atmosphere for equestrian campers.
For those who enjoy exploring the outdoors on horseback or foot, Lily Glen Campground seems to offer an exceptional trail system. The trails are described as "amazing and well marked," specifically with horseshoes painted orange on the trees to guide riders. Additionally, there were mentions of "additional trails that went around and met up," suggesting a network of paths suitable for various lengths and types of excursions. One reviewer recounted a particularly enchanting experience on a trail to the left of the lake, describing it as "like a fairytale...beautiful." This highlights the scenic quality and immersive nature of the trails surrounding the campground.
Adding to the unique appeal, Lily Glen Campground appears to be exceptionally welcoming to dogs and horses. The reviewer who mentioned the meadow also described allowing their dogs off-leash (presumably in a safe and controlled environment) to interact with the horses running around them. This pet-friendly policy, particularly the accommodation for horses with tie-out areas and potentially corrals (as mentioned by another reviewer), sets Lily Glen apart from many traditional campgrounds.
Another reviewer provided further details about the campground's location and offerings, stating that it "backs up to Howard Prairie Reservoir." This proximity to a significant body of water opens up possibilities for water-based activities, although the reviews primarily focus on the land-based aspects. The second reviewer also explicitly mentioned that the park "accepts tents and horses, including having corrals for the horses," reinforcing its appeal to both tent campers and equestrian travelers.
It is important to note that Lily Glen Campground is described as offering "primitive camping." This implies that campers should be prepared for a more self-sufficient experience, likely involving packing in all necessary supplies and packing out all waste ("pack in - pack out"). Primitive camping often means fewer on-site amenities such as running water at each campsite, electrical hookups, or flush toilets. However, for those who prefer a more natural and less developed camping experience, this can be a significant draw. The first reviewer did not mention specific amenities, focusing instead on the natural environment and trails.
The second reviewer's comparison of Lily Glen to "second only to Paradise" (presumably another highly regarded natural location) even "in a drought" speaks volumes about its inherent beauty and appeal, suggesting that its charm persists even under less than ideal environmental conditions. This strong endorsement further positions Lily Glen Campground as a potentially exceptional "camping near me" destination for those seeking natural beauty and a more rustic experience.

Lily Glen Campground Reviews
We then traveled to a campground called Lily Glen campground near Ashland Oregon. Such a pleasant surprise when we arrived it was very easy to get our huge trailer into the campground and it was wide open with a beautiful Meadow where we were able to tie out our horses.. And the trails were amazing and well marked with horseshoes on the trees painted Orange and there were additional trails that went around and met up.. The 1st day we went to the left of the lake like a fairytale...beautiful. To cap off the evening we allowed the dogs off leash to sensorize the horses running around them at 30 miles an hour!
Jul 26, 2021 · Rita CannizzaroWhat a beautiful campground. Even in a drought, this is second only to Paradise. Up in the high Cascades, this park backs up to Howard Prairie Reservoir and accepts tents and horses, including having corrals for the horses. Primitive camping, so be prepared to pack in - pack out. Then come and enjoy!
