Environment: Lakeside Beauty in the Adirondacks
The reviews consistently highlight the beautiful setting of Little Sand Point Campground. Located in Piseco, NY, it is nestled within the Adirondack Park, renowned for its stunning lakes, vast forests, and mountainous terrain. Multiple reviewers mention that most campsites offer access to the water, suggesting a picturesque lakeside environment. One camper specifically noted the "beautiful views." This lakeside positioning likely provides opportunities for water-related activities such as swimming, kayaking, or simply enjoying the serene waterfront scenery. The natural surroundings of the Adirondacks promise a tranquil escape, with the potential for observing local wildlife and enjoying the fresh mountain air. However, one review also pointed out that water sites might have steep banks and heavy foliage, potentially obstructing direct views and access to the water in some instances. Therefore, while the general environment is beautiful, the specific characteristics of individual waterfront sites may vary.
Services and Amenities: Balancing the Basics
Based on the customer reviews, we can gather insights into the services and amenities available at Little Sand Point Campground:
- Campsites: The campground accommodates tent camping, as mentioned by one reviewer who used a tent. Another review noted that sites vary in size and privacy, and some might have a slight incline, requiring campers to level their setups. It seems the layout offers a range of experiences depending on the specific site chosen.
- Bathroom Facilities: Campers have noted the presence of bathroom facilities. Interestingly, one review mentions two different bathrooms, with the "first bathroom" being described as a "hole in the ground," while the "middle bathroom" is praised for being "nicer and well maintained" and including a shower. This suggests that the quality of bathroom facilities might vary within the campground. The cleanliness of the "middle bathroom" was a pleasant surprise for one visitor.
- Safety: One reviewer explicitly mentioned feeling safe leaving their belongings at the campsite while going on hikes, indicating a secure environment.
- Pet-Friendly (with conditions): Dogs are allowed at the campground, but there are clear expectations for pet owners: dogs must be kept on a leash, and owners are responsible for picking up after them. Additionally, campers are asked to be considerate of others by preventing their dogs from barking after 10 pm.
- Check-in/Check-out: The process for checking in and out was reported as easy by one of the reviewers.
It's important to note the discrepancy in the quality of the bathroom facilities based on the reviews. Prospective campers might want to inquire about the locations and types of bathrooms available when booking their site.
Features and Activities: Enjoying the Adirondacks and the Lake
The primary features of Little Sand Point Campground revolve around its natural setting and access to the lake. Potential activities include:
- Water Activities: With most sites having access to the water, campers can likely enjoy swimming, fishing, kayaking, or canoeing on Piseco Lake. However, as mentioned, access from some waterfront sites might be challenging due to steep banks and foliage.
- Hiking: The campground's location in the Adirondacks provides ample opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding wilderness. One reviewer mentioned going on hikes and feeling their belongings were safe upon their return.
- Nature Observation: The natural beauty of the Adirondacks offers chances for observing local flora and fauna.
One review also highlighted the relative remoteness of the location, noting that forgotten items might require a 15-mile drive to replace, but this drive is described as "nice" with "plenty of ice cream shops in town." This suggests that while the campground offers a secluded natural experience, basic amenities and treats are still within reasonable driving distance.

Little Sand Point Campground Reviews
First time visiting the campground. We used a tent for our stay. I have visited other parks where you must stay in your area so your stuff can be there safely. The site was clean, a little bit of an incline, so make sure your camper or tent is level. The bathroom was very clean, I was very happily surprised by this, as you don't see that in public restrooms. They had a shower, too. The views were beautiful as most sites have access to the water. It was easy to check in and out. It was safe since we went on hikes, and when we came back, everything was still there.Dogs are allowed, but please, keep them on a leash and pick up their waste after they are done. Also, don't play with them if they are going to bark after 10 pm. Just be considering of the people around your site.
Sep 04, 2024 · Bo ZunBeautiful spot. Sites vary quite a bit in size and privacy. It seems the higher the site number, the more spread out they are but that's not true for all of them. Water sites have steep banks and heavy foliage blocking the view and access to the water. The first bathroom is a hole in the ground however the middle bathroom is nicer and well maintained. Plan ahead or you will be driving 15 miles to replace forgotten items, however, its a nice quick drive with plenty of ice cream shops in town.
Jul 10, 2019 · l archerReally great campground. A hidden gem. Most sites are on the water with beautiful views. The staff are so friendly and had pots of flowers everywhere, everything was clean, came around in the evening to give treats to my dog and candy to kids. Overall an amazing experience - one of my favourite campgrounds.
Jun 13, 2023 · Ekaterina PotapovaAbsolutely wonderful. Such a little gem of a campground. My siblings and I get our families together every year for a group camping trip and this year we visited Little Sand Point park. If you’re looking for a basic park with great staff you should stay here. Try to get a lake side spot. Note, the showers are across the street so they’re not super convenient but they have signs and a cute little path to them.
Jul 19, 2023 · Rebecca TonerNice site (#33) and friendly staff. Nice privacy from neighbors. Narrow road and tight boat launch made it a challenge to get around with a 24' RV. Very nice and clean lake.
