Lund Park Campground Introduce
When you're searching for "camping near me" and value affordability, natural beauty, and riverside access, Lund Park Campground, located on NF-22, Dorena, OR 97434, USA, appears to be a noteworthy option. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground offers a budget-friendly camping experience in a picturesque setting, although with some considerations regarding fishing and amenities.
One reviewer describes Lund Park Campground as "one of peons best kept secrets," immediately suggesting it might be a less crowded and perhaps more local favorite. A significant highlight mentioned is the "cheap camping" with a very low $5 fee, making it an exceptionally economical choice for those looking to enjoy the outdoors without breaking the bank. The reviewer also notes the pleasant environment with "few bugs" and its location "right on the river," where the water is described as "so clear." This proximity to a clear river enhances the appeal for activities like wading, swimming (though not explicitly mentioned as suitable), and simply enjoying the waterfront ambiance. However, this reviewer also points out that the location is "not good for fishing though, maybe down the river, but not here," which is important for anglers to note.
Another review shifts the focus to the recreational opportunities beyond the immediate campground, mentioning a "Great hike continues brice creek," describing the forest as "absolutely beautiful" with "some steep portions," and advising to "watch kids." This indicates that Lund Park Campground serves as a gateway to excellent hiking trails along Brice Creek, allowing campers to explore the stunning natural landscape of the area. The caution about steep portions suggests that the hiking trails offer varying levels of difficulty, with some requiring more care, especially when hiking with children.
Based on these reviews, Lund Park Campground offers a compelling combination of affordability and natural beauty, primarily appealing to those who value riverside camping and access to hiking. Here's a summary of the environment, services, and features we can glean:
- Environment: Located right on a clear river, surrounded by a beautiful forest (especially along Brice Creek). It is also noted for having few bugs.
- Services and Features: Cheap camping with a $5 fee (it's important to verify if this fee is current and what it includes). Direct river access. Serves as a starting point for hiking trails along Brice Creek. Fishing is reportedly not good at the campground itself but might be better down the river. The reviews do not mention typical campground amenities like restrooms, fire pits, or picnic tables, suggesting these might be basic or not universally available.
- Promotional Information (inferred): Lund Park Campground could be promoted as an affordable riverside camping destination with access to scenic hiking in a beautiful forest. Its clear river and low bug count are significant advantages. While not ideal for fishing directly at the campground, its proximity to Brice Creek's hiking trails offers another strong recreational draw. The "best kept secret" aspect also hints at a potentially less crowded and more authentic outdoor experience.
For local users in the Dorena, Oregon area, or those seeking an inexpensive "camping near me" option with river access and hiking, Lund Park Campground is definitely worth considering. The $5 fee makes it exceptionally budget-friendly, and the clear river and nearby Brice Creek trail offer natural attractions for different interests.
However, potential visitors should be aware that fishing might not be a primary activity at the campground itself, and information about other standard campground amenities is lacking in the provided reviews. If you require specific amenities like restrooms, showers, or designated fire pits, you might need to inquire directly with the phone number provided: (541) 957-3200 or +1 541-957-3200.
When comparing options for "camping near me," Lund Park Campground stands out for its affordability and natural setting. The clear river is a definite plus for those who enjoy being near water, and the access to the Brice Creek hiking trail will appeal to outdoor enthusiasts who like to explore on foot. The low bug count, mentioned by one reviewer, is also a significant benefit for a comfortable camping experience.
In conclusion, Lund Park Campground in Dorena, OR, offers cheap riverside camping in a beautiful area with access to hiking along Brice Creek. While not recommended for fishing directly at the campground, its clear river and the scenic trails provide ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. For those prioritizing affordability and a natural setting when looking for "camping near me," Lund Park Campground is a compelling choice. It would be advisable to call the provided number to get more details on the available amenities and any current conditions before planning your visit.

Lund Park Campground Reviews
This is one of peons best kept secrets in my opinion. Cheap camping, few bugs, $5 fee, right on the river and the water is so clear. Not good for fishing though, maybe down the river, but not here.

Nov 28, 2022 · Steve BengtsonPretty clean and quiet, my only complaint was that the vault toilet nearest to the campsite I stayed at had no toilet paper. I was almost right on the waters edge though, easy enough to get to the creek and the water wasn't running too fast. Didn't have to chase the shade at the camp spot too much either. Will definitely be coming back.
Jun 27, 2024 · farwunderwmnMy partner, dog, and I just had a magical long weekend here. We got in Thursday around 2pm and found an open spot after no luck down river. Our camping neighbors, a very large family of like >30 people, were noisy, but once we had a conversation all was well and we all shared the small beach Saturday and had a wonderful time. There are plenty of other swimming spots up and down river to find some solitude too with access to Brice Creek trail for hikes. This campground is right off the road so there will be road traffic noise and dust from the parking area. The single vault toilet had no TP and we saw 0 rangers the entire 4 days/3 nights. Lots of trash (straw and food wrappers, TP, fishing gear, fake nails, cig butts, an alarming amount of band aids...) which we slowly picked up- assuming this is the remainders from the 4th of July. Every large Douglas fir had human-caused damage to the trunk. If these trees die, the site will be in full sun and pretty miserable in the summer. Some plantings in the small meadow could also help with dust, noise, and shade. This spot could use some Forest Service attention. Please leave our public lands better than you found them ya'll!
