As a "camping near me" option, McFadden Cove Campgrounds provides a quiet and picturesque environment, particularly appealing to those interested in fishing the nearby outlet. One visitor described it as a "nice quiet spot to camp while fishing the outlet," highlighting its suitability for anglers seeking a convenient and peaceful base for their fishing excursions. The campground's proximity to the lake further enhances its appeal for water-based activities and enjoying scenic lake views.
McFadden Cove is identified as a small but beautiful COE (Corps of Engineers) Park located directly on the lake. This designation often implies well-maintained facilities and access to natural resources managed for public enjoyment. For those traveling with campers, the campground offers the convenience of 30amp electric hookups and water connections at all campsites. This ensures a comfortable stay with essential amenities for powering your recreational vehicles and accessing potable water.
It is important to note that McFadden Cove Campgrounds operates with vault toilets, as sewer hookups are not available at the sites. While this is a common feature in many natural and lakeside campgrounds, it's a factor to consider for your camping setup and personal preferences. The availability of reservable campsites is a significant advantage, allowing you to plan your "camping near me" trip in advance and secure your spot, especially during peak seasons or weekends.
While the paved campsites offer a stable surface, a recurring observation from visitors is that most of these sites are either heavily sloped or slanted. This is a crucial piece of information for campers, particularly those with larger RVs or those planning to set up camp chairs and tables. It may require some extra effort in leveling your vehicle or choosing your campsite carefully upon arrival. Tent campers should also take note of a specific recommendation from a reviewer: "If you are tent camping, don't pick a place in the middle section. There isn't much grass on the ground." This suggests that while all areas have electric and water for campers, the ground cover in the middle section might not be ideal for a comfortable tent setup.
Despite the sloped sites and the lack of sewer hookups, the overall sentiment from visitors suggests a positive camping experience at McFadden Cove. The quiet atmosphere, the pretty lake setting, and the availability of essential utilities like electricity and water make it an attractive option for those searching for "camping near me" that offers a blend of natural beauty and basic comforts.
For those specifically interested in "camping near me" for fishing, McFadden Cove's location near the outlet is a significant draw. Outlets of lakes often attract fish, making them prime spots for angling. The quiet environment of the campground further enhances the fishing experience, providing a peaceful backdrop for a relaxing day by the water.
The fact that McFadden Cove is a COE park also suggests potential access to other amenities or recreational areas managed by the Corps of Engineers, such as boat ramps, picnic areas, or hiking trails, although these are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Exploring the official website or contacting the campground directly might provide more information on these additional features.
Considering a "camping near me" trip to McFadden Cove? Here are a few things to keep in mind: reservations are recommended to ensure you have a campsite, especially during busy times. Be prepared for sloped or slanted parking pads and bring leveling blocks if you are traveling with an RV. Tent campers should be mindful of the grassy areas and potentially choose a site outside the middle section for a more comfortable setup. The availability of electric and water hookups caters well to RV campers, while tent campers will appreciate the quiet environment and proximity to the lake and fishing opportunities.
While specific promotional information such as discounts or special offers was not included in the provided data, the inherent appeal of a lakeside campground with essential amenities in a quiet setting is a strong draw in itself. To learn about any potential promotions or to get more detailed information about the campground facilities and the surrounding area, contacting McFadden Cove Campgrounds directly at the provided phone numbers would be the best course of action.
In conclusion, McFadden Cove Campgrounds offers a lovely and tranquil "camping near me" experience near Ponca City, Oklahoma. Its lakeside location, coupled with the availability of electric and water hookups, makes it a convenient choice for RVers and those interested in fishing. While the sloped campsites and vault toilets are aspects to be aware of, the overall positive feedback regarding its quiet atmosphere and pretty setting suggests a worthwhile camping destination for those seeking a peaceful outdoor getaway.

McFadden Cove Campgrounds Reviews
Nice quiet spot to camp while fishing the outlet. If you are tent camping, don't pick a place in the middle section. There isn't much grass on the ground. All areas have electric and water for campers.
Apr 16, 2025 · Nick RaffetyVery pretty small COE Park on the lake 30amp electric + water. No sewer. Vault toilets only. Reservable. Only downside is most sites although paved are heavily sloped or slanted.
Sep 30, 2023 · MartieThis is a very nice but small camping area. Only about 15 sites. One pair of vault toilets. No showers. There is 30 amp power and water at each site, but no sewer, nor is there a dump station, so hopefully, your RV has enough storage to last and take with you when you leave. Most of the sites are fairly closely grouped as well, so if privacy and/or solitude is your thing, you may want to look elsewhere. The view of the lake is decent, though when the lake is at normal or low levels, it is a ways away. Also, the main road is fairly close and well traveled, so you'll likely hear noise from the traffic passing by.All in all, I'm not disappointed by my stay. However, this location is not at the top of my list of favorites on Kaw Lake.
May 24, 2023 · Scott CorrowWhile the view is good thats about all the good this place has to offer. The first big issue is there is no dump site so unless you want to drag your waste with you, you cannot use anything in your camper. The bathroom facilities are just 1 step up from a porta-john and no sink and most of the time we where here the inside of the white tube going to the blue goo is splattered with a lot of brown stuff. The the RV pads are the worst, domed high with asphalt, horrably sloped and uneven, with excessively high ramps everywhere, dont go outside without a light or you might break something .
Oct 11, 2023 · Uncle PervHad a great time out there hanging out with my family.
