Middle Fork Campground Introduce
Are you on the lookout for the perfect "camping near me" experience in the heart of Kentucky's natural beauty? Consider Middle Fork Campground, situated at 2135 Natural Bridge Rd, Slade, KY 40376, USA. With a contact phone number of (606) 663-2214 or mobile at +1 606-663-2214, this campground offers local users a fantastic basecamp for exploring the renowned Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Resort Park. Based on real customer feedback and its location, let's delve into the environment, services, and features that Middle Fork Campground provides for your next outdoor adventure.
Immerse Yourself in the Natural Environment
Middle Fork Campground benefits from its prime location in close proximity to some of Kentucky's most stunning natural attractions. Situated near both the Gorge underground and Natural Bridge State Park, campers can expect easy access to a wealth of outdoor activities. The area is characterized by its dramatic sandstone cliffs, lush forests, winding trails, and the iconic Natural Bridge arch. The environment surrounding Middle Fork Campground offers opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, nature viewing, and exploring the unique geological formations that define this region. Tent sites are notably located near a creek, providing a scenic and potentially tranquil setting. However, as noted by a recent visitor, some tent sites, particularly #11, while private and scenic, are a considerable walk from the bathroom facilities, involving a small hill. Additionally, the main road runs above some tent sites, which may result in some road noise, particularly during the day. For those seeking morning sun at their tent site, the electric sites across the creek, closest to the bridge, are recommended, while the creek-side tent sites offer shade until late morning, making them ideal for those who prefer to sleep in or are camping during the warmer summer months.
Services and Amenities Offered
Middle Fork Campground provides essential services to ensure a comfortable camping experience. Based on customer reviews, the campground features a permanent bathroom structure with at least two usable showers. This is a significant convenience for campers, offering a more comfortable alternative to basic pit toilets often found in more primitive camping areas. While specific details about other amenities are not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, it's reasonable to expect standard campground services such as potable water access and designated waste disposal areas. The availability of electric sites across the creek suggests that the campground caters to both tent campers and those with recreational vehicles requiring electrical hookups. However, one reviewer noted that the campground might be a "little tight for large campers," indicating that while RV camping is accommodated, maneuvering larger vehicles might present some challenges.

Middle Fork Campground Reviews
Stayed here in Mid April. Had tent spot #11. It was the last spot on the lead in road and was very private and scenic. All these tent sites are near the creek. * Bathroom a good walk away, including a small hill. It would be hard to stealth pee in these sites. ** The main road runs right above your tent prepare for road noise. ( Not as much at night of course).*** These tent sites are in the shade until like 1030 am. If you want morning Sun for heat book the electric sites across the creek closest to the bridge. If you like to sleep in or it's summer these tent sites are best. **** Except for sites #1 and #11 you are fairly close to your neighbors. Bathrooms were a permanent structure with 2 usable showers. This campground was very close to both the Gorge underground and Natural Bridge State Park and the trails etc. Overall a nice place to camp.
Apr 20, 2025 · Matthew StullichWe enjoyed our stay at Nature Bridge SP. The campground is a little tight for large campers, just saying.
Apr 27, 2025 · Reginald SmithSites are close together but still feel private. We were able to fit 2 tents, a Canopy, and a small SUV. Our site butted up to a creek which had fish, turtles, and crawdads, we saw people kayaking in there. There are a few more secluded spots on the creek by they are further away from the bathroom. There aw electric hookups but ours was pretty far from the tent but we brought a 50 foot extension cable so it wasn't an issue. We really enjoyed our time here, we were close to all of the trails we wanted to hike and people respected quiet hours, it was a lovely time. No playground but kid was never bored.
Jun 18, 2024 · Vanessa BryantVery friendly and helpful campground manager. Super nice guy. Campground is very clean and facilities also very clean. Be sure to bring extensions for your electric and water lines as this is an older built site and hookups can be 50 ft plus away. This site is close to all the hiking destinations such as a natural bridge and the national forest. As well as Red River gorge.
