Missouri State Fair Campground Introduce
Are you searching for the perfect spot for camping near me in Missouri? Look no further than the Missouri State Fair Campground, located at 2503 W 16th St, Sedalia, MO 65301, USA. Situated within the well-known Missouri State Fairgrounds, this campground offers a unique camping experience, particularly for those looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the annual state fair. While primarily known for its convenience during the fair, the campground also serves as a viable option for travelers seeking a stopover or a base to explore the surrounding Sedalia area.
The environment of the Missouri State Fair Campground is intrinsically linked to the fairgrounds themselves. During the Missouri State Fair, campers will find themselves at the heart of the action, with easy access to agricultural exhibits showcasing the state's rich farming heritage, various entertainment options, food vendors offering a wide array of treats, and commercial booths. For those interested in Missouri's agriculture industry, this campground provides an unparalleled opportunity to be right where it's happening. However, outside of the fair dates, the environment transforms into a more typical campground setting, potentially offering a quieter experience, although specific details about its ambiance during the off-season are less readily available.
Based on customer reviews, the campground offers essential services to make your stay comfortable. Notably, many campsites are equipped with power and sewer hookups, which are highly appreciated by RV travelers. This convenience allows for a more seamless and comfortable camping experience, especially for longer stays. The availability of these hookups is a significant advantage for those who rely on them for their RV amenities. Additionally, the campground provides bathroom facilities. Reviews indicate that these bathrooms are generally cleaned regularly and are stocked with toilet paper, which are basic but crucial aspects for any campground. However, some feedback suggests that the facilities could benefit from updates, with mentions of old paint and mold in some areas. While cleanliness is maintained, potential aesthetic improvements could enhance the overall user experience.
In terms of features, the primary draw of the Missouri State Fair Campground is its location within the fairgrounds. This provides unparalleled access to the Missouri State Fair's events and attractions. For campers visiting during the fair, the convenience of walking to exhibits, shows, and food vendors is a major highlight. Beyond the fair itself, the campground serves as a functional base for exploring Sedalia and its surrounding areas. While specific recreational features within the campground itself are not extensively detailed in the provided information, its proximity to the fairgrounds implies access to the fair's infrastructure, such as open spaces and potentially some event-related amenities during the fair.
One recurring point in the reviews is the layout and parking at the campsites. Some campers have noted that the sites can be irregular, leading to instances where parked campers might inadvertently block access to other sites. This is an important consideration for those planning to stay, particularly during peak times like the start of the fair when the campground tends to be full. Careful maneuvering and communication with fellow campers might be necessary to navigate the parking situation.
Noise levels are another aspect mentioned in the reviews. While there is significant golf cart traffic, which some might find disruptive, the overall noise level is described as mild, aside from this specific element. Dust is also mentioned as being present but not excessively bothersome. These are typical considerations for campgrounds located in open areas with vehicular traffic.
Safety is a notable feature highlighted in the reviews. During a storm, the campground's announcement system was reported to be efficient, and storm shelters were readily available and open for safety. This demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of campers during adverse weather conditions, which is a crucial aspect of a responsible campground operation.
Promotional information for the Missouri State Fair Campground is best sought directly through their official channels or the Missouri State Fair website. Given that the campground's primary function seems closely tied to the annual fair, any specific promotions or discounts would likely be announced in conjunction with fair-related information. For those interested in staying outside of the fair dates, contacting the provided phone number, (800) 422-3247 or +1 800-422-3247, would be the most direct way to inquire about availability, rates, and any off-season offers.
In summary, the Missouri State Fair Campground offers a unique camping experience, particularly for those attending the Missouri State Fair. Its key advantages include power and sewer hookups, generally clean bathroom facilities, and, most importantly, its prime location within the fairgrounds. Potential drawbacks to consider are the irregular campsite layouts, potential parking challenges during peak times, and the need for aesthetic updates to the bathroom facilities. For local users searching for "camping near me," the Missouri State Fair Campground presents a functional option, especially for RV campers and those wanting immediate access to the Missouri State Fair. For the most up-to-date information on availability, pricing, and any special offers, please contact the campground directly.

Missouri State Fair Campground Reviews
Great variety of things to see around Missouri’s agriculture industry. Fairgrounds needs more benches. More coffee kiosks selling good coffee drinks are needed.
Aug 15, 2023 · Bruce WylieCamp ground was full the first day of the fair. Camp sites were irregular and campers weirdly parked blocking other sites.Power and sewer were nice. Bathrooms had toilet paper and were cleaned mostly. But the paint was old and moldy.Other than mass golf cart traffic the noise level was mild. The dust was coated and not terrible. There was a storm one night and the announcements were efficient and storm shelters open for safety.I enjoy camping at the fair. I wanted to give a real review.
Aug 21, 2018 · Miss PooveyCamping at the MO State Fair is a joke! Campers call the camping process the Black Hole where you may wait up to 12 hours to be registered for a site. The campground is part of the Mo State Park system. HOWEVER, out of 41 Mo State Parks who have camping, you CAN NOT make online camping reservations for the State Fair Campground. Mostly you have to rely on the Good Old Boy system to give you an annual reservation or hope the hateful people at the gate will take pity on you after you have driven from the far corners of the state with stock to be shown or a vendor who has rented an expensive booth only to be turned away give you a site. NO FIRE HAZARDS HERE!
