Moosalamoo Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me"? Moosalamoo Campground, located in Salisbury, VT 05769, USA, offers a smaller, potentially quieter camping experience for local users interested in exploring the outdoors. You can contact them at (802) 767-4261 or their mobile number +1 802-767-4261 for inquiries.
Based on customer reviews, Moosalamoo Campground has aspects that may appeal to those seeking a more nature-focused getaway. One reviewer described it as a "nice small quiet campground" with the added benefit of bike trails and hiking trails in the immediate vicinity. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and campsites was also noted positively, and the site sizes were mentioned as being suitable for larger vehicles like a Lance truck camper.
However, it's important for prospective campers to be aware of more recent feedback that indicates some changes and potential drawbacks. One 2023 update raises concerns about additional fees, specifically an $8.00 nonrefundable reservation fee added to a $15 site fee, bringing the total to $23.00 per night. This same review also points out a significant issue: the lack of water due to an unrepaired well. Additionally, the absence of a host was mentioned. This feedback suggests that while the natural surroundings and access to trails may be appealing, the amenities and cost structure might not meet all campers' expectations.
The review further elaborates on changes to the campsites themselves, stating that they have been "paved over with bluestone Rock," a modification the reviewer found questionable compared to the necessity of new tent pads. This alteration might affect the comfort for tent campers. The condition of the Moosalamoo Trail is also mentioned, with concerns that it has worn down to tree roots due to mountain bike usage.
In a more concerning note, the same reviewer reported a car break-in while campers were asleep in their tents nearby, and also mentioned unruly campers on weekends. These are important factors for potential visitors to consider regarding safety and the overall atmosphere of the campground.
Therefore, while Moosalamoo Campground is located in a potentially scenic area of Vermont with access to outdoor activities like biking and hiking, recent feedback suggests a need for local users to weigh the benefits against potential drawbacks such as added fees, lack of running water, absence of a host, changes to campsite surfaces, trail conditions, and reported security and noise issues.
To summarize the information gathered from the reviews:
- The campground is described as small and potentially quiet.
- It offers access to bike trails and hiking trails in the surrounding area.
- Clean bathrooms and good site sizes for larger campers have been noted.
- Recent feedback highlights an $8.00 nonrefundable reservation fee in addition to the site fee.
- There is a reported issue with no water due to an unrepaired well.
- The campground reportedly has no host.
- Campsites have been altered with bluestone rock.
- The Moosalamoo Trail is said to be worn down due to mountain bikes.
- A car break-in was reported.
- There have been mentions of unruly campers on weekends.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Moosalamoo Campground presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. The natural environment and trail access remain potential positives, but the concerns regarding fees, water availability, site conditions, safety, and noise should be taken into account. It would be advisable to contact the campground directly at (802) 767-4261 or +1 802-767-4261 to get the most current information on the status of amenities, fees, and any regulations before making a reservation. This will help local campers make an informed decision based on their individual needs and preferences for a camping experience.
While the initial positive review suggests a pleasant, quiet environment with good facilities and trail access, the more recent update paints a less favorable picture regarding costs, essential amenities like water, site conditions, and overall campground management. Local campers should carefully consider these points when deciding if Moosalamoo Campground aligns with their expectations for a local camping option. It underscores the importance of seeking the latest information directly from the source to ensure a satisfactory experience.

Moosalamoo Campground Reviews
Nice small quiet campground. Biketrail and hiking trails in and around the area. Clean bathrooms and sites. Great site size for our Lance truck camper.
Aug 01, 2023 · Bonita Burden2023 update SCAM Alert, $ 8.00. Nonrefundable Reservation Fee tacked on to 15 site fee Total . $ 23.00 a nite. NO WATER, WELL STILL UNREPAIRED,! NO HOST, Rochester Ranger Superintendent ripoff . Campsites have been paved over with bluestone Rock. Don't know what they were thinking when new tent pads was all that was necessary. Don't think there's going to be many happy campers. Everything else remains the same. Moosalamo Trail as predicted, has worn down to the tree roots due to allowing Mnt bikes, another go figure. Yes I saw a moose this last Spring, July 22 , update,!! car was broken into while campers were asleep nearby in there tent ! Unruly campers on weekends.
Aug 21, 2023 · Bull WinkleSpent two days at this Campground recently. Beautiful mature Forrest. Secluded and quiet. I stayed at space 10. The table gets most of the space. Walking around I found space 3 and 14 are my favorites if I ever return. Bring lots of lamps. It's supper dark at night.
May 27, 2018 · Lis OliveiraVery nice, remote, and rustic campground. Easy access to hiking trails. The camping sites are well spaced. Most tent sites have a dirt/grass area away from gravel to set up. I was there in July and it was buggy. To be expected. Not much air circulation and it felt stagnant.
Jul 18, 2020 · Matthew EnglebyVery quiet & well-maintained campground! We stayed at campsite #3. Very spacious and secluded. Be advised - no running water, flushing toilets, or showers. There is a hand pump for potable water. Also no firewood available for sale onsite. The trailhead for the Mount Moosalamoo hike is at the entrance to the campground, which is a pretty easy/moderate hike, good for a serene Sunday morning.
