When considering "camping near me," the environment of the campground is a key factor. Situated near Deer River in Minnesota, Moose Lake Campground likely benefits from the natural surroundings typical of the region, which often include forests and proximity to lakes. The name itself suggests the presence of Moose Lake, which could offer opportunities for fishing and enjoying the lakeside environment. One reviewer mentions staying there specifically to fish, indicating that the lake is a significant draw for visitors. The description of the campground as "tiny out of the way" suggests a more secluded and less crowded environment, which can be appealing to those seeking peace and quiet in nature.
However, it's important for local users searching for "camping near me" to be aware of the limited services available at Moose Lake Campground. According to a recent review, the campground offers "no services, just a biffy." A "biffy" is a common term for a basic outhouse or pit toilet, indicating a lack of running water, flush toilets, and potentially other amenities often found at more developed campgrounds. This rustic nature might be suitable for campers who are self-sufficient and prefer a more primitive camping experience. The same review mentions "12 small car camp sites," suggesting that the campground is relatively small and primarily caters to tent campers or those with smaller vehicles. The mention of some road noise indicates that while the location is somewhat remote, it is still within earshot of a road.
Despite the limited services, the reviews offer some positive aspects. One reviewer who stayed on a Friday night in May found it "worked great for a motorcycle camper" and noted that they were the only one there, highlighting the potential for solitude, especially during off-peak times. They also mentioned the road noise but found it "not objectionable" and indicated they "would stop by again." Another reviewer stated, "We stay here to fish. This time of year is nice and quiet. Campground is clean," emphasizing the peaceful atmosphere and cleanliness of the campground, which are important factors for many seeking "camping near me."
Given the information available, the services and features of Moose Lake Campground appear to be quite basic:
- Campsites: Approximately 12 small car campsites, likely suitable for tents and potentially small vehicles.
- Restroom Facilities: A biffy (outhouse or pit toilet) is the only restroom facility mentioned, indicating no flush toilets or running water for sinks or showers.
- Water Source: No mention of a potable water source is made, so campers should likely bring their own water.
- Waste Disposal: While not explicitly mentioned, some form of waste disposal is usually provided at campgrounds, even basic ones. Inquire when booking.
- Lake Access: Proximity to Moose Lake for fishing is a key feature, though specific details about boat launches or swimming areas are not provided.
- Quiet Environment: The reviews suggest a generally quiet atmosphere, especially during certain times of the year.
Features that might attract local users to Moose Lake Campground in the "camping near me" category include its small size, potentially leading to a more private experience, its location near Moose Lake for fishing enthusiasts, and its basic nature, which might appeal to those seeking a more traditional and less developed camping setting. The low cost mentioned in one review ($17 per night in 2024) could also be an attractive feature for budget-conscious campers.
Currently, no specific promotional information is available for Moose Lake Campground based on the provided data. The mention of the nightly rate in 2024 provides some indication of cost, but local users should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to confirm current rates and any potential discounts or special offers. Given its small size and basic amenities, it's possible that reservations are not strictly required, but it would be wise to call ahead, especially during peak camping seasons or weekends, to ensure availability.

Sep 12, 2024 · jill petronNice campground on a beautiful lake. Usually not too busy. It's well kept. Good campsites. Great beach. Nice boa5 landing except its real shallow (not good for big boats).
Sep 02, 2024 · Merlin PetronVery nice secluded little area.. Beautiful in the fall... No showers or electric hook up which kinda sucks but hey thats what camping is all about... Definitely a place to visit...
Oct 31, 2023 · Shaina RahierCampground is fine. Nothing fancy.June 2020 price is $14 per night. First come first serve with about 12 spaces. Biffys, vault toilets (closed for now), fire rings, picnic tables at each site. Had a 32’ fifth wheel, boat and truck. Only a few spots had enough space for that. Lots of tent campers. Terrible mosquitos.Boat launch is next to campground and very shallow but there is a small sand beach. It’s about 6 feet from water to woods. Also not fancy but could work.No electricity or running water.
