Moose Lake Campground

134 S Range Rd, Marysville, MI 48040, USA

4.0
Stayed here for Jonnie Nooner weekend with my boyfriend and older brother. We stayed in a tent and were perhaps the only ones who had stayed in a tent there in months. There was geese poop all over the place (they feed the geese 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️) AND THERE ARE NO ACTUAL BATHROOMS OR SHOWERS. Poorly cleaned porta potty ONLY. If you’re in a camper it’s not a big deal but as a woman trying to camp in a tent it really was unfortunate. Andrea was however very kind and welcoming, she stays in a camper there. We arrived pretty late at night, we called her and she picked up right away and directed us to our campsite. She also sold us some firewood and let us know that the campground is 4/20 friendly which is definitely a plus lol. There are also ZERO trees along ANY of the specified ‘tent area’. So if you plan to hang up tarps or hammocks good luck! Oh and if the sun is out you’re going to ROAST. So overall $35 a night for a plain unshaded campsite with electricity (a singular extension cord across the grass) it could be MUCH nicer. - Abby Paasman

Moose Lake Campground Introduce

Looking for a local camping spot near you? Moose Lake Campground, situated at 134 S Range Rd, Marysville, MI 48040, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience for both tent and RV campers. With contact numbers (810) 650-5292 and +1 810-650-5292, this campground has received mixed reviews from recent visitors, providing a nuanced perspective for those searching for 'camping near me' in the Marysville area.

One recent review highlights a positive experience during a Fourth of July celebration, mentioning "great hospitality," fishing, swimming, fireworks, and food. This reviewer expressed their intention to return, suggesting that Moose Lake Campground can provide an enjoyable and festive atmosphere, particularly during holiday weekends. For local users seeking a campground with potential for community events and lakeside activities, Moose Lake might be a consideration.

However, another review offers a contrasting perspective, particularly for tent campers. This reviewer, who stayed during a "Jonnie Nooner weekend," noted several significant drawbacks. One of the primary concerns raised was the lack of actual bathrooms and showers, with only "poorly cleaned porta potties" available. This is a crucial consideration for tent campers who typically rely on campground restroom facilities for hygiene and comfort. The reviewer acknowledged that this might not be a major issue for RVers who have their own onboard facilities.

The same reviewer also mentioned a significant presence of geese and goose droppings throughout the campground, attributing it to the practice of feeding the geese. This environmental factor could impact the overall cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the campground, particularly for those in tent areas.

Despite these criticisms, the reviewer did commend Andrea, who appears to be the on-site contact, for being "very kind and welcoming." Andrea's helpfulness upon late-night arrival, including providing directions to the campsite and selling firewood, was appreciated. The reviewer also noted that the campground is "4/20 friendly," which may be a relevant factor for some potential visitors.

A significant environmental drawback for tent campers, according to this review, is the complete lack of trees in any of the designated "tent area." This absence of shade means that campers planning to hang tarps or hammocks will face challenges, and those camping during sunny days are likely to experience intense heat. The reviewer described their campsite as a "plain unshaded campsite with electricity (a singular extension cord across the grass)."

Considering the amenities, the availability of electricity at the campsites is a plus, although the description of it being provided via "a singular extension cord across the grass" suggests a potentially basic or less-than-ideal setup. The lack of proper bathrooms and showers is a major limitation, especially for tent campers. The presence of a lake suggests opportunities for fishing and swimming, as mentioned in the positive review, but specific details about lake access, swimming areas, or fishing regulations are not provided.

The environment of Moose Lake Campground appears to be a lakeside setting, which can be attractive for water-based activities. However, the presence of geese and the lack of trees in the tent area are environmental factors that potential visitors should be aware of. The overall maintenance and cleanliness, particularly of the porta potties, seem to be areas of concern based on one of the reviews.

In terms of services, the hospitality of Andrea is a noted positive. The availability of firewood for purchase is a convenience for campers. The provision of electricity at the campsites is another service offered. However, the absence of proper bathroom and shower facilities is a significant service limitation, especially when compared to other campgrounds that cater to tent campers.

The features of Moose Lake Campground include its lakeside location, potential for fishing and swimming, and the allowance of campfires (implied by the sale of firewood). The "4/20 friendly" policy is a unique feature that may appeal to certain campers. However, the lack of shade in the tent area and the reliance on porta potties are notable limitations in terms of features and amenities.

Promotional information is not explicitly available in the provided reviews. The mention of the Fourth of July celebration suggests that the campground may host events or activities during holidays, which could be considered a form of seasonal promotion. Local users interested in rates, availability, or any special offers should contact Moose Lake Campground directly using the provided phone numbers.

In conclusion, Moose Lake Campground in Marysville, MI, offers a lakeside camping experience with both positive aspects, such as friendly staff and potential for holiday fun, and significant drawbacks, particularly the lack of proper bathroom and shower facilities and the unshaded tent areas. For local users searching for 'camping near me', especially those considering tent camping, it is crucial to weigh these factors carefully. RV campers with their own facilities might find Moose Lake Campground more suitable. It is highly recommended to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current conditions, amenities, and rates to make an informed decision about your local camping getaway.
