Mountain Lake Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" that offers a peaceful retreat without breaking the bank? Mountain Lake Campground, located at 127 Mountain Lake Ln, Paris, VA 20130, USA, presents itself as a potentially quiet and economical option for local campers. Based on recent feedback from visitors, it offers a unique camping experience with both notable advantages and areas where improvements may be needed.
One of the primary draws of Mountain Lake Campground, as highlighted by a recent visitor, is its exceptionally quiet atmosphere. If you value tranquility and a peaceful camping environment, this could be a significant benefit. The absence of excessive rules and regulations, also mentioned positively, may appeal to campers seeking a more laid-back and less restrictive experience. For budget-conscious travelers exploring "camping near me," the reported rate of $20 per site, which includes water and electric hookups, positions Mountain Lake Campground as an economical choice.
The owner of the campground is described as nice and welcoming, suggesting a personal touch and a potentially positive interaction upon arrival. This initial welcome can contribute to a pleasant start to your camping trip. Furthermore, the inclusion of water and electric hookups at such an affordable rate adds practical value, especially for those relying on these amenities for a comfortable stay.
However, it's important to consider some of the concerns raised by recent visitors. One camper noted a difficult check-in process, citing an unappealing office that was not manned until 5 pm and a lack of phone response. This could be a point of frustration for those arriving earlier in the day or needing immediate assistance. Another significant concern mentioned was the below-average condition of the bathhouse facilities. One reviewer explicitly described them as "nasty" and expressed concerns about hygiene. This is a critical aspect for many campers, and the negative feedback suggests a potential area for improvement.
Additional points of concern included a full dumpster, indicating potential issues with waste management, and the observation that the campground website needs updating, which could lead to inaccurate expectations or difficulties in obtaining necessary information. The presence of numerous long-term campers with what were described as "decaying campsites" also raises questions about the overall upkeep and aesthetic of certain areas within the campground.
While one visitor found Mountain Lake Campground as a suitable alternative to a state park with a long hike to campsites, highlighting its convenience in that specific situation, the mixed feedback suggests that potential campers should weigh the pros and cons carefully. The quiet environment and economical pricing, coupled with the inclusion of water and electric, are definite advantages. However, the reported issues with the bathhouse, check-in process, waste management, website accuracy, and the appearance of some long-term sites are factors that should be taken into consideration.
For local users actively searching for "camping near me," Mountain Lake Campground presents a budget-friendly option with the potential for a quiet stay. If you prioritize affordability and a less regulated environment, and if you are less reliant on pristine bathhouse facilities, this campground might be worth considering. The availability of water and electric hookups at the reported price point is also a significant benefit for many campers.
However, it would be prudent to be prepared for a potentially delayed check-in and to have realistic expectations regarding the condition of the communal facilities. It might also be beneficial to try contacting the campground in advance to clarify any uncertainties regarding check-in procedures or current conditions, despite the reported difficulty in reaching them by phone. The provided phone numbers are (540) 837-2134 and +1 540-837-2134.
In conclusion, Mountain Lake Campground offers a specific type of camping experience that may appeal to certain local users searching for "camping near me." Its strengths lie in its quiet atmosphere, economical pricing, and the inclusion of water and electric hookups. The welcoming nature of the owner is also a potential positive. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported shortcomings related to the bathhouse facilities, check-in process, waste management, website information, and the appearance of some long-term sites. It is recommended to consider these factors carefully when making your decision.
Ultimately, your choice of "camping near me" will depend on your individual priorities and preferences. If a quiet and affordable camping experience with water and electric is your primary focus, and you are willing to potentially overlook some of the mentioned drawbacks, Mountain Lake Campground in Paris, VA, could be an option to explore further.

Mountain Lake Campground Reviews
Could be a nice little camp ground 🤔 but the key word is Could. I didn't use them nasty showers 😕 I didn't want to catch anything 😕. They gave up on that place an just don't care
Sep 12, 2024 · Robert StimmelI declined to stay at Sky Meadows State Park Campgrounds due to the mile hike back to the campsite. I found Mountain Lake Campground just up the road.+ very quiet+ hardly any rules/regulations+ economical. Paid 20$ for the site+ water and electric included+ owner seemed nice and welcoming- difficult check in. The office was unappealing and was not manned until 5pm. No one answered the phone.- below average bath house for a campsite- dumpster was full-website needs updated- lots of long term campers with decaying campsites
Sep 28, 2022 · Rob MoretzWe ended up risking it on this place when everything else was full on a busy weekend in Shenandoah. We were worried because of some of the bad reviews, but it ended up being really nice! We had the place to ourselves which was great, but at most there’s only 3 camp sites here that are all pretty separate from each other. You have to drive to the bath house, so kind of primitive in that sense, but the bath house was well maintained.
Oct 18, 2020 · Haley KramerThe campground was clean and peaceful. The bathhouse clean and freshly painted. The location was ideal...close to everything but far enough away from the main roads. This is definitely a "dont judge a book by its cover" kinda campground. If you keep an open mind you will have a great time. We stayed for two nights in the "primitive camping" area and had a great time.
Jun 29, 2020 · JENNIFER ROBINSAt first glance we were unsure, but there was nothing else available over the holiday weekend. It’s $15 per person. Our campsite was next to the pond and was very spacious and secluded. We ended up having a great time. The bathhouse isn’t bad and was a nice amenity. We will definitely be going back here again!
