Nesowadnehunk Field Campground Reviews
We had a magical time! Un-touched wilderness. Loved the hike to Rocky Pond.
Sep 01, 2023 · Kate WagnerA lean-to in a field in Baxter State Park. An exceptional mountain trail, Doubletop Mt. And a short drive to a great swimming hole, Ledge falls. There is a lot to like about this place and not much to dislike. All the rangers are nice, too.
Aug 23, 2021 · jack gondelaLove Nesowadnehunk Field Campground! First time there stayed in the cabin with my sister-in-law & second time stayed in lean-to #9 by myself, my first time in a lean-to & first camping trip alone (my sister-in-law was supposed to be there with me but due to a torn meniscus could not make this trip). Very peaceful each time & beautiful starry skies each trip. At the cabin we had a visitor, a little bunny rabbit! The Ranger was extremely informative & very nice & pleasant & remembered me on my second trip there! I look forward to next year when my sister-in-law & I book our 3rd trip there & hopefully this time get to finally hike Doubletop Mountain & possibly a few other mountains in the vicinity of Nesowadnehunk Field Campground, like North Brother and South Brother, Mt. Coe, & Oji. Nesowadnehunk is close to The Ledges also & that is an awesome place to cool off after a long day hiking or to spend the day there swimming, sliding, sunbathing, or just people watching! This Campground definitely has a lot to offer & will always hold a special spot for me for many different reasons. Hope to bring some of my grandchildren there someday. ❤
Sep 15, 2021 · Ellen Winchester-WarrenRelaxing location; very friendly rangers. One hour drive down a dirt/gravel road to get to the campground. No showers/toilets (outhouse only). Excellent place to stay if you want to hike Doubletop Mtn.
Jul 02, 2022 · Elizabeth SchmidtWhere to even start with this place? Nesowadnehunk Field is magical. This is my favorite place in Maine and one of my favorite campsites of all time. The lean-to shelters are secluded in the woods, yet open enough to provide amazing stargazing opportunities (try to time your trip around a new moon). The outhouses are clean and a short walk away through the field. At night, you could hear a few animals rustling through the woods nearby and around the lean-to. There are also so many good trail heads within reach of this campground - including Doubletop, which was also my favorite hike in the park (We couldn't hike Katahdin due to capacity restrictions, but I don't regret it). My only regret is not having more time in this beautiful campground, the best in Baxter!
