Northern Lure Resort & Campground LLC Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Glidden, Wisconsin area? Northern Lure Resort & Campground LLC, located at 23913 Preib Rd, Glidden, WI 54527, USA, presents a lakeside destination with a range of features that have elicited varied responses from visitors. This campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and on-site amenities, but potential guests should be aware of both the positive aspects and the concerns raised in recent reviews to make an informed decision.
One of the frequently praised aspects of Northern Lure Resort & Campground is its beautiful location right on the lake. Visitors have described the sunsets as "incredible," suggesting a picturesque and serene environment for enjoying the natural beauty of northern Wisconsin. The lakeside setting offers the potential for stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere, making it an appealing backdrop for a relaxing getaway.
The campground is described as a place suitable for solo campers as well as those traveling with friends and family. This suggests a welcoming environment for various types of travelers looking to enjoy the outdoors. For families with children, the presence of a "great playground" is a significant plus, providing a dedicated space for kids to play and stay entertained. Additionally, the road around the campground is noted as a "great place to ride bikes," offering a safe and enjoyable activity for both children and adults.
A unique feature of Northern Lure Resort & Campground is the on-site bar area, where guests can enjoy drinks and "delicious food." One reviewer specifically recommended a "Pink Lady on the Porch," indicating a signature beverage and a pleasant setting for socializing. The bar also offers entertainment options such as arcade games and a pool table, catering to both kids and adults looking for some indoor fun.
For those seeking cabin accommodations, Northern Lure Resort & Campground offers cabins that have been described as "very clean and comfortable." These cabins are reportedly stocked with essential kitchenware, including pots, pans, plates, and silverware, providing a convenient home-away-from-home experience. Additionally, the availability of a "very clean" laundry room is a practical amenity for longer stays or for those who need to refresh their clothing.
The owner, Taylor, is mentioned positively in a review for offering "great ideas of places to go see" in the surrounding area. This suggests that the staff is knowledgeable about local attractions and willing to provide recommendations, enhancing the overall visitor experience by helping guests explore the region.
However, it is crucial to consider the more critical feedback provided by another recent visitor who traveled the country in an RV and has experience with numerous campgrounds. This reviewer expressed concerns about the campground's suitability for families and children, suggesting it is "set up for more of the drinking and party in crowd." This perspective indicates a potential atmosphere that might not be ideal for all types of campers, particularly those seeking a quiet and family-oriented environment.
The same reviewer noted that the focus of the resort seems to be primarily on the bar, which has potentially led to the "campground to fall apart." This is a serious concern regarding the overall maintenance and upkeep of the camping facilities.
Despite these concerns, the reviewer also highlighted several potential pros, including the campground's potential for ATV trips, snowmobile runs, and ice fishing trips, suggesting it could be a good base for these specific outdoor activities. The on-site bar is again mentioned as a positive, with wonderful prices and a "pretty nice menu," although the reviewer noted that everything was sold out during their visit. The friendliness and helpfulness of the guests, staff, and owners were also commended, along with the campground's small and cozy feel, suggesting it might not feel overly crowded even when full. The presence of a "nice playground" is reiterated, and the proximity to a "really nice state-run park and beach next door" is highlighted as an additional benefit.
However, the cons listed in the detailed review present significant issues that potential campers should be aware of. The dock was reportedly pulled out of the water and onto the shore during mid-summer, contradicting the impression of "family friendly fishing" conveyed in reviews and the website. The reviewer stated there was "no fishing whatsoever" due to the lack of a usable dock and limited space. The beach was described as "neglected" and overgrown, with difficult access through other campsites. The landscaping was noted as poorly maintained, with mowing only in easily reachable areas, leaving other areas overgrown.
The park layout was also criticized, with no easy access to a map after booking and a lack of on-site check-in, making it difficult to find specific sites, especially with multiple sites having the same number. The lakefront sites were described as having "crunchand" and potentially difficult access if the campground were busy. The U-turn design and S-shaped exit were noted as challenging for big rigs to navigate.
The on-site bar was listed as both a pro and a con, with the negative aspect being the significant non-camper traffic looking to get drunk, potentially impacting the atmosphere of the campground. Cabin rubble was observed on the walk to the beach, with glass, rocks, and wires posing a safety hazard. Finally, a garbage burning pit was noted right at the entrance, which the reviewer found unappealing as a welcome to the park.
Considering these mixed reviews, Northern Lure Resort & Campground LLC offers a lakeside location with beautiful sunsets and a bar with food and entertainment. It has a playground and cabin rentals. However, potential guests should be aware of concerns regarding the condition of the dock and beach, landscaping, park layout, and the atmosphere potentially being more geared towards bar patrons than families. The friendliness of the staff and the potential for ATV and snowmobile activities are positive aspects. Local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh these pros and cons carefully and perhaps inquire about the current conditions of the beach and dock before booking, especially if these are important factors for their camping experience. Contacting the campground directly at (715) 264-3678 or +1 715-264-3678 for the most up-to-date information is highly recommended.

Northern Lure Resort & Campground LLC Reviews
This campground is beautiful and right on the lake. The sunsets are incredible. It's the perfect place to camp with by yourself or with friends and family. They have a great playground for kids and the road around the campground is a great place to ride bikes. In the bar area they serve drinks and delicious food (I recommend a Pink Lady on the Porch) . There are even some arcade games and pool table in there for kids and adults. My family stayed in a cabin which was very clean and comfortable. The cabin was stocked with pots, pans, plates and silverware. I had to used the Landry Room which was also very clean. The owner Taylor gave us some great ideas of places to go see. So if you don't know what to do just ask. He will definitely point you somewhere fun. This is a great place to make memories and enjoy the outdoors. You won't go wrong booking this place for your next camping trip. We are counting the days until we can make it back again.
Jan 09, 2024 · Lindsays A Happy CamperCatfish!!!I travel the country for work in my RV, And then me in the family vacation in the summer, We have been all over the country and see about 15RV parks a year. This place is not designed for families or children, Set up for more of the drinking and party in crowd. It seems most of the energy is focused on the bar and has allowed the campground to fall apart.Pros:1) This place has a lot of potential, Great for an ATV trip or snowmobile run with your boys, Maybe even some ice fishing trips.2) There is a nice little on-site bar, And the prices are wonderful, Pretty nice menu however everything was sold out.3) All the guests, staff and even owners were super friendly and helpful4) Small and cozy I can imagine if this place was full it wouldn't be super crowded5) Nice playground6) Really nice state-run park and beach next doorCons:1) Dock and beach, So there is absolutely no dock it was pulled out of the water and up on the shore And we visited mid summer, In the pictures in the reviews and website they sold us on Family friendly fishing. There is no fishing whatsoever, Simply no room. The beach has been neglected And has become overgrown, Both in the water and out. Also the only way to access the beach is by walking through other folks campsite which feel quite awkward.2) Landscaping, The park is mowed But only where you can reach with a riding mower, Everything else is a foot and a half high, Around every tree all along the beach, Definitely looks rough.3) Park layout, There's no easy access to a map after booking, Which is no big deal however this is all online no one on-site to check you in, and point you to your spot, Then it can become tricky When there's multiple spots with the same number. All the sites by the lake are crunchand and would be very difficult to access if this place was busy and crowded. In addition it's designed to be A U turn and the exit has a big S in it that makes it difficult for big rigs to navigate.4) Bar on-site, Simply put lots of non camper traffic, looking to get drunk. I would say the bar traffic is keeping this place alive.5) Cabin rubble, On the walk to the beach you come upon some cabin rubble where it looks as though several cabins used to stand And we're demolished and left in its place is rubble with glass, rocks and wires sticking up out of the ground.6) Garbage burning pit, driving in right out of the gate. There's no clear welcome center introducing you to the park giving you a map or helping you in any way being a non personnel park, But there's a big garbage burn in pit, lol.
Aug 05, 2024 · Luke AiuppaWe stayed at the resort over the 4th of July weekend.my Granddaughter was playing with the owners children and as kids will be kids when I went to collect my Granddaughter the owner came to my site and accused me of bad mouthing her children .which I would never do we were told to keep the kids away from each .not very kid friendly. The garbage in the bathroom and laundry room were not emptied all weekend garbage was falling on the floor...this is the second time of posting a review I was told to take the first one down by the owners.as they called our friends and demanded we delete it ..it's nothing but a party fest and the customers are not tended to . Not worth the stay..
Sep 03, 2024 · Tammy appelWe can’t wait to come back! This place is nice and quaint, but the owners go above and beyond! We could not have asked for a better experience. There isn’t a better place with better people! We are so thankful to have stumbled upon The Northern Lure, our trip was a million times better because of their hospitality.
Sep 05, 2024 · Danielle PuckettI’m from the Lower peninsula in Michigan. And was treated like family from the get-go. Camp there for four days and of course there was a live band because there is a bar within the campground itself. Enjoy the music enjoyed the food and then enjoyed the company. My only wish is they would take a little bit more time cleaning the bathroom for the campground.
