Upson Falls campground Introduce
Looking for a serene and visually stunning camping experience close to home? Consider Upson Falls Campground, situated at 9564 Upson Park Rd, Upson, WI 54565, USA. Under the platform category of "camping near me," Upson Falls Campground stands out as a charming and naturally beautiful option, particularly noted for its captivating waterfalls and tranquil environment. While the customer reviews primarily focus on visiting the falls rather than overnight camping, they provide valuable insights into the environment and potential appeal of this small and cozy campground for local users.
Immerse Yourself in the Beauty of Upson Falls:
The resounding theme in the customer reviews is the exceptional beauty of the Upson Falls area. Described as a "beautiful park area" with "wonderful waterfalls and rocky path," the environment is clearly the star attraction. Campers and visitors alike can expect to be surrounded by the natural splendor of cascading water, interesting rock formations, and likely lush vegetation typical of Northern Wisconsin. The sound of the falling water is highlighted as a particularly soothing aspect, suggesting a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The reviews also point to the scenic value of the area, with one visitor noting it "looked like something from a painting" and being impressed with the ease of taking beautiful photographs. This suggests that the campground is located within or very close to a visually remarkable natural landscape, offering a feast for the eyes and a calming retreat for the soul.
Potential Services and the Cozy Campground Feel:
One reviewer who didn't stay overnight mentioned seeing only one camper, describing it as a "small campground" that "seems very cozy." This suggests that Upson Falls Campground might be a more intimate camping experience, potentially offering a limited number of campsites and a quieter atmosphere compared to larger campgrounds. While specific details about services are not provided in the reviews, we can infer some likely offerings based on the context of a small campground focused on natural beauty:
- Campsites: Given it's a campground, designated areas for tents and possibly small RVs or campervans would be expected. The "cozy" description might imply well-spaced sites that offer a degree of privacy.
- Basic Amenities: Small campgrounds often provide essential amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings at each campsite or in communal areas. Access to potable water and waste disposal would also be anticipated.
- Restroom Facilities: The type of restroom facilities could range from simple vault toilets to more developed restrooms, depending on the campground's development level.
- Parking: A designated parking area for campers and visitors would be necessary, with the proximity to campsites potentially varying.
It's important to note that without more specific information, these are educated assumptions. Local users should seek out official campground listings or contact local authorities to get precise details about the services and amenities available at Upson Falls Campground.
Features and Activities Centered Around Nature:
The primary feature of Upson Falls Campground, as highlighted by the reviews, is its stunning natural environment, particularly the waterfalls and the rocky path. This suggests that the main activities for campers and visitors would revolve around enjoying this scenic beauty:
- Waterfall Exploration: The "wonderful waterfalls" are a major draw, offering opportunities for viewing, photography, and simply enjoying the sights and sounds of cascading water. The caution about slippery rocks after rain indicates that exploring the area might involve some careful navigation and appropriate footwear.
- Hiking and Scenic Walks: The mention of a "rocky path" suggests the presence of trails or walkways that allow for exploration of the area around the falls. These trails likely offer scenic views and a chance to immerse oneself in the natural landscape. Even a "quick pit stop/hike" was described as a "wonderful sight to take in," indicating the accessibility and beauty of the area.
- Photography: The visitor who was impressed with their effortless photos highlights the photogenic nature of Upson Falls and its surroundings. Campers who enjoy photography will likely find ample opportunities to capture the beauty of the waterfalls, rocks, and surrounding nature.
- Picnicking and Relaxation: The suggestion that it would be a "great place to have a picnic or just some peace and quiet" underscores the tranquil atmosphere of the area. Campers can likely find spots to enjoy a meal amidst the natural beauty or simply sit and relax, listening to the soothing sounds of the falls and the surrounding nature.
- Potential for Meditation and Mindfulness: One reviewer mentioned that without a child present, they would have liked to sit and meditate, emphasizing the peaceful ambiance conducive to quiet contemplation. For campers seeking a mindful retreat, the sounds of nature at Upson Falls could be particularly appealing.
Promotional Information and Planning Your Local Visit:

Upson Falls campground Reviews
This was a beautiful park area. The waterfalls and rocky path were a wonderful sight to take in. It was just a quick pit stop early in the morning on the way to meeting up with others. So glad we made the stop/hike.
Jun 02, 2024 · kara coleWe didn't stay there, but did visit. Spent a few hours exploring the waterfalls. Was a great adventure for a small 4 minute detour!! Be careful if it has recently rained as the rocks get very slippery!! Would be a great place for a photo shoot. I was pretty impressed with how nicely my photos turned out, with little to no real effort!! Would be a great place to have a picnic or just some peace and quiet. Without a kid present I would have probably sat and meditated, listening to the beautiful sounds of nature. It really did look like something from a painting!! Would definitely go back and possibly even camp. There was only one camper there while we were there. It's ba small campground, but seems very cozy. Would probably sleep like a baby to the sounds of falling water, rather than the busy city outside my door!!
Sep 20, 2019 · Christine StephensEasy parking, easy to find. HOWEVER, it is not a hike to the falls but rather somewhat mountaineering. Soggy, slimy big rocks and lots of tree roots to traverse. The short path ends way too soon from the pavillion. You're on your own to get to the big falls. There is no trail or path and it is on an elevation. It isn't all that far but getting there is the issue. You can get a real good view from the bridge before the park, but nothing beats being there. Not for handicapped people or very young children. A shame a decent trail is not available.Restrooms and picnic area available. Well pump for water.
Oct 10, 2023 · Mar B.Very cute and short hike to the river. Stayed here in a tent over the weekend and it was peaceful other than random vehicles coming in and out of the driveway at night and the atvs on the road right behind the site. It's 10$ cash only about 8 spots with nice bathroom. Hidden gem amongst the north! Nearest gas station is a mobil that's technically another camp ground but it worked.
Sep 22, 2021 · Cherie JerryAbsolutely gorgeous waterfall. A little climb to get close to the falls, but it's definitely worth stopping to check out
