Schomberg County Park Campground Introduce
For local residents in Wisconsin and nearby areas seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience with direct access to recreational trails, Schomberg County Park Campground, located on Shomberg Park Rd, Hurley, WI 54534, USA, presents an excellent option. Easily reachable at (715) 329-0826 or +1 715-329-0826, this campground offers a quiet and well-maintained environment that appeals particularly to those without children or those primarily interested in trail-based activities like ATV riding and hiking.
Based on recent customer reviews, Schomberg County Park Campground is characterized by its peaceful atmosphere and convenient location directly on a trail system. This makes it an ideal basecamp for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the natural beauty of the Hurley area. The campground is described as a "nice, quiet little campground," suggesting a more intimate and less crowded camping experience compared to larger, more amenity-filled parks. The presence of a "beautiful pavilion" indicates a communal space that could be used for gatherings, picnics, or simply enjoying shelter from the elements.
One of the standout features highlighted by multiple reviewers is the cleanliness and quality of the bathroom facilities. Campers have noted that the bathrooms are "extremely well cared for" and that the shower, while listed as "pay showers," is reasonably priced at just $1 for 5 minutes. This attention to hygiene is a significant plus for any campground and contributes to a more comfortable stay.
The campground's direct access to a trail system is a major draw. One reviewer specifically recommends going west on the trails, while noting that some trails to the north were closed at the time of their visit. This suggests that the area offers extensive opportunities for exploration, likely catering to both hikers and ATV riders. The presence of an "atv wash station" further emphasizes the campground's appeal to ATV enthusiasts, providing a convenient facility for cleaning off their machines after a day on the trails, especially considering the local "red soil."
In terms of the environment within the campground itself, reviewers mention a "nice open grassy area around the pavilion." This suggests that while individual campsites might vary, there is a central open space for recreational activities or simply enjoying the outdoors. The absence of a playground and the subsequent lack of "screaming kids" contribute to the quiet and relaxed atmosphere that many visitors appreciate.
For those traveling with larger recreational vehicles, Schomberg County Park Campground is noted as "big rig friendly," indicating that it can accommodate larger RVs. However, one reviewer did encounter an issue with the electrical hookup at their site, which was listed as 30/50A but was only 50A. They had to purchase a 30A to 50A "dog bone" adapter to connect their RV. This is an important piece of information for RV travelers to note; it might be prudent to confirm the specific electrical hookup at your site when booking or to come prepared with necessary adapters.
Connectivity is another factor to consider. One reviewer reported that Verizon cell service was non-existent at the campground and that they relied on their personal satellite internet (Skylink) for Wi-Fi. This suggests that cellular service might be unreliable in the area, and Wi-Fi is not provided by the campground. Campers who need to stay connected should plan accordingly.
Based on the reviews, Schomberg County Park Campground appears to be particularly well-suited for adults and those whose primary interest lies in accessing and enjoying the local trail system. The quiet environment and lack of specific children's amenities might make it less appealing to families with young children seeking playground facilities or organized kid-friendly activities.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive feedback regarding the cleanliness, trail access, and quiet atmosphere serves as an implicit recommendation for those seeking these qualities in a "camping near me" experience. Local users might find additional information about rates, reservations, and any specific promotions by contacting the campground directly at the provided phone numbers or by searching for "Schomberg County Park Campground" online, which could lead to county park websites or camping reservation platforms.
In summary, Schomberg County Park Campground near Hurley, Wisconsin, offers a charming and peaceful retreat for local campers, particularly those interested in ATV riding and hiking due to its direct trail access. The campground boasts clean and well-maintained facilities, including bathrooms and a shower. While it may lack amenities specifically for children and cellular service might be limited, its quiet atmosphere, beautiful pavilion, and big rig-friendly sites make it a highly recommended option for adults and trail enthusiasts. Local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on rates, reservations, and electrical hookup specifics to ensure a smooth and enjoyable "camping near me" experience.

Schomberg County Park Campground Reviews
Very nice, quiet little campground. Beautiful pavilion. Great location right on the trail. Clean bathrooms. Nice shower. It says "pay showers", but it's only $1 for 5 minutes! No playground for kids, but also no screaming kids. Nice open grassy area around the pavilion. We loved this little place and we will be back!....but we will bring our 30A to 50A dog bone power adaptor. Site said 30/50A but was only 50A. We had to run down to Wal-Mart to get the proper adaptor. But other than that we had a very enjoyable stay!!
Sep 13, 2024 · Shawna TaylorQuiet small campground. The bathrooms here extremely well cared for. Verizon cell service is 0. We used our skylink for WiFi. We were glad we brought it. We recommend going west on the trail system. We tried going north but there were a lot of closed trails. It’s a great campground for those without kids. There’s not any kid friendly amenities. The atv wash station was great for getting the red soil off our machines. Highly recommended wearing clothes you don’t care about on the trails. Overall this campground was perfect.Big rig friendly!
Oct 12, 2023 · Juliana RileyVery nice quiet campground with trail access directly from it. Must reserve online. Inside the restrooms were coin operated showers. Coin operated pressure washer to wash ATV/SXS at end of day on site.
Sep 21, 2024 · Roman dombrowskiCLEANEST campground bathroom I’ve ever visited!! Once you are about 20 minutes north of Minocqua, if nature calls, pray you can make it another few miles to this campground! I stopped out of need but stayed and took a walk around to stretch my legs after 4 hours of driving. The grounds and bathrooms (with showers and flush toilets) are well kept. If you plan on camping, it looked as if all spots, especially those with power hookups, were reserved (mid-May visit) so I recommend booking online far in advance.
Jun 13, 2023 · Jennifer RadtkeA pretty place to camp. Very clean and well maintained. Sites are mostly level, paved. Had to make reservations online, but even on the weekend, there were a few spaces available. Bathhouses were spotless. They even have an ATV wash area. Full dump station too. All sites are electric only, but there are potable threaded water spigots in the park.
