Frontier Bar & Campground, located at 11296 US-2, Saxon, WI 54559, USA, offers a distinctive camping experience with the added convenience of an onsite bar and grill. Based on feedback from recent visitors, Frontier Bar & Campground provides a welcoming and convenient environment for campers, particularly those with RVs. One reviewer described it as a "Great place to camp! Quiet and well kept areas." This suggests that the campground prioritizes a peaceful atmosphere and maintains its grounds to a high standard, ensuring a pleasant stay for visitors seeking tranquility.
The presence of a bar and grill on the premises is a significant feature that sets Frontier Bar & Campground apart. The same reviewer noted "Friendly people and great service at bar. Food was tasty especially onion rings. Good prices." This indicates that campers have the option to enjoy a meal and socialize at the bar without having to leave the campground. The positive comments about the friendly service, tasty food (especially the onion rings), and good prices suggest a potentially enjoyable dining experience right at your campsite.
For RV travelers, Frontier Bar & Campground offers practical amenities. One camper who stayed for two nights in late June specifically mentioned their experience in a "fhu pull through spot #37 in the back of the park." The term "fhu" typically stands for full hookups, which usually includes water, sewer, and electrical connections. The reviewer also noted that it was a "Big wide spot," indicating ample space for larger RVs to maneuver and set up comfortably. The availability of pull-through sites is particularly beneficial for RVers as it eliminates the need to back in, making parking and departure much easier.
Cleanliness and comfort are also highlighted in the reviews. The same long-term visitor praised the "Clean bathrooms and hot showers," which are essential amenities for a comfortable camping experience, especially for longer stays. Knowing that these facilities are well-maintained adds significant value to the campground.
Families with children will appreciate the presence of a "playground for the kiddos." This feature provides a dedicated space for children to play and burn off energy, making Frontier Bar & Campground a potentially family-friendly destination where kids can stay entertained within the safety of the campground.
However, one minor inconvenience was reported regarding the Wi-Fi service. The reviewer mentioned, "Unfortunately the wi-fi was down at the bar and the bartender wasn't sure how to fix it (she did try restarting it but no luck) so that was a bummer cause I wanted to work a bit while I ate lunch there. So that didn't end up happening." While the bartender did attempt to resolve the issue, the lack of functional Wi-Fi at the bar might be a consideration for campers who need to stay connected for work or personal reasons. It's worth noting that this was a specific instance, and the availability and reliability of Wi-Fi might vary.
Despite the Wi-Fi issue, the overall impression of the campground remains positive. The reviewer concluded, "It's a quiet park. Gas station in front is convenient. All and all not a bad place to stop for a night or two." The quiet atmosphere is a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful camping experience. The added convenience of a gas station located in front of the campground can be particularly beneficial for travelers needing fuel or last-minute supplies.
In summary, Frontier Bar & Campground in Saxon, WI, offers a unique blend of camping amenities and the convenience of an onsite bar and grill. Local users looking for "camping near me," especially those with RVs, will appreciate the quiet, well-kept grounds with full hookup and pull-through sites. The availability of clean bathrooms with hot showers and a playground for children adds to the comfort and convenience. The opportunity to enjoy tasty food and friendly service at the bar is a distinctive feature. While the Wi-Fi at the bar might have occasional issues, the overall experience seems positive, with the added benefit of a conveniently located gas station. For a relaxed camping getaway with the option of onsite dining and social interaction, Frontier Bar & Campground is a compelling choice in the Saxon area.

Frontier Bar & Campground Reviews
Great place to camp! Quiet and well kept areas. Friendly people and great service at bar. Food was tasty especially onion rings. Good prices.
Sep 29, 2024 · Melinda MurphyStayed 2 nights in fhu pull through spot #37 in the back of the park at the end of June. Big wide spot. Clean bathrooms and hot showers. Have a playground for the kiddos. Unfortunately the wi-fi was down at the bar and the bartender wasn't sure how to fix it (she did try restarting it but no luck) so that was a bummer cause I wanted to work a bit while I ate lunch there. So that didn't end up happening. Bright side, I saved some money not eating there. It's a quiet park. Gas station in front is convenient. All and all not a bad place to stop for a night or two.
Aug 26, 2024 · Roberta PeekWhat a lovely surprise. We just needed a quick overnight. Good Sam ratings had this very middle of the road. Why I check reviews. Reviews of this park are well deserved. Restrooms were immaculate. Dated but I will take perfectly clean any day. Check in was a breeze at the pub 🤣. Hubby had chicken wings there and service was terrific. Great location. Easy in and out.
Aug 18, 2023 · Kate MWe loved it here! So convenient. Right on route 2. Easy pull through. Easy check in. Spacious sites. Clean camp ground. Good prices. Friendly staff. Gas station right there. What more could you ask for? How about a great little restaurant. With great prices. And the food was delicious ! Hubby said that it was the best burger that he ever ate! He had the California Burger. I had fries and wings and they were great!
