Memorial Park Campground

600 Memorial Park Dr, Washburn, WI 54891, USA

4.0
We spent 5 nights at this campground. After driving around the entire Lakeshore area, our conclusion was that this was the best campground to be at. Reason for not giving 5 stars was the placement of some of the sites and the shower house. Some were so close together and felt extremely crowded. Others were huge and would have fit as many people as 3 weirdly positioned sites. The water front sites in left loop were stunning but of course unavailable. Every site has electric. Water spigots are abundant throughout the campground. Tall pine trees provide shade and the breeze from the lake makes the campground such a perfect place to be temperature wise. We were on the loop to the left away from the shower house area. We liked that area best. Downside for tent campers is that the only bathroom is in the other loop. The shower house has 2 showers a piece for both men and women. It requires 3 quarters. The back shower has perfect water temp. The first one is lukewarm. The shower runs forever and I could not get it to stop. What a waste of water. It needs to be addressed. Otherwise shower and bathrooms are clean. First come first serve campground. Sites become available every day so if you get there before late afternoon you should be able to get a site. We camped in a 30 foot fifth wheel. Plenty of sites could accommodate us and there were bigger campers in campground. Very quiet and friendly campground. We enjoyed our stay here. Dump station does not have a potable water hookup but all the potable water spigots will allow you to hook a hose to them to fill RV tanks. - Stephanie Rickels

Memorial Park Campground offers a range of services to accommodate various camping preferences. Notably, "every site has electric," catering to both RV and tent campers who appreciate this convenience. Water spigots are plentiful throughout the campground, ensuring easy access to potable water. For RVers, while the dump station does not have a potable water hookup directly at it, the numerous potable water spigots allow for filling RV tanks using a hose. The campground can accommodate larger RVs, with one visitor camping in a 30-foot fifth wheel and noting that plenty of sites could handle their size, with even bigger campers present. While the campground operates on a "first come first serve" basis, visitors report that sites become available daily, suggesting that arriving before late afternoon increases the chances of securing a spot. The facilities include a shower house with two showers each for men and women, requiring three quarters to operate. While one shower reportedly had lukewarm water and a tendency to run continuously, the other offered perfect temperature, and the shower and bathrooms are generally described as "clean." For tent campers in the left loop, the only bathroom is located in the other loop, which might be a slight inconvenience. The campground also features a playground for children, an open field for recreational activities, and a pavilion for events, indicating a family-friendly focus. The presence of camp hosts who are easily reachable for any concerns further enhances the service quality.

The campground's location also provides easy access to the broader attractions of the Washburn and Apostle Islands National Lakeshore area, making it a convenient base for exploring the natural and cultural highlights of the region. A significant point raised by a repeat visitor is the consistently wet firewood sold at the campground, recommending purchasing firewood from local stores in town instead, despite the higher cost, to ensure a usable fire. Another suggestion was for clearer information on the duration of shower time provided per quarter.

Local users can contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates and any potential cost-saving opportunities.
