Dalrymple Park and Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Bayfield, Wisconsin area, Dalrymple Park and Campground, located at 86070 WI-13 Trunk, Bayfield, WI 54814, USA, and reachable by phone at (715) 779-5712 or mobile at +1 715-779-5712, offers a convenient option, particularly for tent campers and those needing a last-minute stop. While reviews suggest a mixed experience, the campground's proximity to Bayfield and some lakeside spots make it a consideration for local users exploring "camping near me."
The environment at Dalrymple Park and Campground is characterized by its location right off Highway 13, which, while convenient for access, also means that campers should expect to hear highway noise. The terrain of the campground is described as very hilly, which might pose challenges for certain types of camping setups, particularly for larger RVs. However, the campground does offer a handful of coveted spots located right off the lake, providing a scenic and potentially more desirable camping experience for those lucky enough to secure them. One reviewer mentioned a great sunrise view, suggesting that some locations within the campground offer pleasant natural vistas. Additionally, the campground's proximity to Bayfield is a significant environmental advantage, allowing easy access to the town's attractions, shops, and the shores of Lake Superior. A nearby option for a nicer sunrise view and running water bathrooms is Washington Avenue beach, located a short distance down the road.
The services at Dalrymple Park and Campground appear to be somewhat basic. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis according to its website, although one reviewer noted discrepancies with this policy upon arrival, finding reservation tags on many of the numbered poles. This potential inconsistency in the reservation system is something to be aware of. The campground seems primarily geared towards tent camping, given the hilly terrain that is reportedly unsuitable for RVs. While the reviews mention access to the lake and the proximity to Washington Avenue beach for running water bathrooms, specific on-site amenities like showers, laundry facilities, or electrical hookups are not mentioned. It's reasonable to infer that these might be limited or non-existent. The availability of lakeside spots suggests potential access for launching small watercraft, although this is not explicitly stated. For detailed information on the services offered, including water access, restroom facilities available on-site, and any other amenities, contacting the campground directly using the provided phone numbers would be advisable.
The features of Dalrymple Park and Campground are somewhat limited based on the provided reviews. A key feature is its location right off Highway 13, providing easy access for travelers. The availability of a handful of campsites directly on the lake is a significant draw for those seeking waterfront camping. The potential for great sunrise views from some spots is another appealing feature. Its close proximity to the town of Bayfield allows campers to easily explore the local attractions, dining options, and the shores of Lake Superior. The nearby Washington Avenue beach offers access to a nicer sunrise viewing location and running water bathrooms, which can be considered an off-site feature accessible to campers at Dalrymple Park and Campground. However, the hilly terrain and the highway noise are features that might be drawbacks for some campers, particularly those with RVs or those seeking a more secluded and quiet environment. The first-come, first-served policy (as advertised) could be seen as a feature for those making last-minute plans, although the reported inconsistencies with reservations should be noted. Overall, the primary features seem to be its convenient location near Bayfield and the availability of a few lakeside tent sites.
The provided reviews do not contain any information about specific promotional offers for Dalrymple Park and Campground. For local users interested in camping here, it might be worth inquiring about any potential discounts for residents or off-season rates when contacting them directly. Given its nature as a potentially more basic and last-minute stop campground, extensive promotional packages might not be a primary focus. However, it's always possible that they offer special rates for longer stays or during certain times of the year. Checking local tourism websites or contacting the Bayfield Chamber of Commerce might also provide insights into any general camping promotions in the area. As the campground appears to cater to travelers needing a convenient stop near Bayfield, their pricing and availability might be more dynamic based on demand.
In conclusion, Dalrymple Park and Campground near Bayfield, WI, offers a convenient "camping near me" option, particularly for tent campers and those needing a last-minute stop in the area. Its location right off Highway 13 provides easy access, and the proximity to Bayfield is a significant advantage for exploring the town and Lake Superior. While the campground is hilly and subject to highway noise, the handful of lakeside spots and the potential for great sunrise views offer some appeal. The services appear basic, and there have been reports of inconsistencies with the advertised first-come, first-served policy regarding reservations. For local users considering a stay, it would be wise to contact the campground directly to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, and any potential promotions. Understanding the conditions and services firsthand will help in making an informed decision about whether Dalrymple Park and Campground meets your needs for "camping near me" in the Bayfield area.

Dalrymple Park and Campground Reviews
Overall, our experience here was subpar. There are a handful of spots right off the lake if you were lucky enough to grab them. We got lucky by night two. Website says first come first serve; however, we arrived and many spots had reservations taped to the numbered pole. Very misleading. It’s very hilly, if I had an RV would not stay here. For us, it was a last minute stop so this worked. It was nice being so close to bayfield. It is right off the highway so you will hear highway noise.
Oct 13, 2024 · MollyThis is a first come first serve campground. We were on a long road trip and had a need to change plans. This was a great last minute stop to pitch a tent. Great sunrise view. I went down the road to Washington Avenue beach to get a better view of the sunrise as well as a running water bathroom.
Jul 12, 2024 · Jordan MarshallThis particular campground is very hilly. We had drove in and since our RV is very low to the ground found it extremely difficult to navigate throughout. We almost damaged our rig. If you’re a renter, it’s okay. The area is beautiful and found a much better accommodations at Buffalo Bay Campground, which is just up the road, and part of the casino. They accept reservations. Good luck.
Aug 14, 2024 · Ken WFirst come, first serve. Arrive early because there won’t be any spots left for late arrivals. $30 is a bit expensive for sites that don’t have water hookups and a campground/RV park that doesn’t have a dump station. The entry is steep. If you are towing at max capacity, I don’t recommend pulling your rig into here. The nearby Indian casino has a level entry, and level sites, and more amenities for campers. All campgrounds fill up pretty quick in the area.
Aug 04, 2023 · Rachel GamarraUnimpressive campground. I wouldn't try bringing anything over 31-32' in. We had our pop-up this trip but usually travel with 39'. The road isn't great and many lots aren't very level with tight maneuvering to get in. The satellite toilets needed dumping after the busy summer and heat and really smelled. It was first come first serve and we arrived before dinner so had a bit of choice. I would not try parking here in the dark.
