While the reviews highlight the incredible natural setting, it's important to be aware of the varying campsite conditions. As one visitor noted, some of the beachside campsites, particularly those in the A loop like A18, can have a steep, sandy incline to the picnic table and fire pit. Over the summer months, sand may accumulate on the concrete pads of these sites. If you prefer less sandy conditions, consider requesting an inside site within the loop when making your reservation. In terms of services and amenities, Oceanside Drive-In Campground aims to provide a comfortable and convenient camping experience. While specific details about all amenities aren't available in the provided information, the mention of showers indicates that basic hygiene needs are catered to. However, it's worth noting the feedback regarding the temperature of the showers, which one reviewer described as "absolutely freezing," even on warm days. Local users planning their "camping near me" trip should be aware of this and consider planning accordingly.
The review also offers a valuable tip for those looking for a quick breakfast option. By driving to the nearby state park side and informing the entrance staff that you are heading to the restaurant, you may be able to access it without an entry fee. The reviewer praised the food at the restaurant, suggesting it's a convenient and tasty alternative for campers who prefer not to cook every meal. This local knowledge can significantly enhance the camping experience for those unfamiliar with the area.
One of the standout features of Oceanside Drive-In Campground, repeatedly mentioned by visitors, is the unparalleled experience of being so close to the ocean. Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and waking up to the sight of the sunrise over the Atlantic is a truly unique and cherished aspect of camping here. Oceanside Drive-In Campground Reviews
Listening to the ocean while in the tent at night was perfect the morning sun was fantastic and the wild horses were fun to watch. My daughter and I can't wait to go back.
Mar 29, 2025 · Cityblazein SantiagoBeautiful place to camp, pros and cons tho. Stayed in A18, steep sandy climb to table and fire pit. By July the sand is mostly covering the concrete pad, as it was in almost all the outside/beach side sites in the loop. If you want less sand try to stay on the inside sites of the loop. Showers are absolutely freezing, even on a very warm day. Horses frequently walked the loop, saw them multiple times from our campsite. If you need a quick breakfast, drive back up to the state park side and tell them you're just going to the restaurant and they won't charge you to get in & the food is great.
Jul 13, 2024 · Ally PaynterFirst time camping here and it was an amazing experience! We were immediately met with horses at our campsite and continued to see the same herd during our 3 day stay. Be prepared for cold, windy nights if you're going during cooler months. Our tent was not the best, but the campground was great.
Mar 25, 2024 · Olivia MaysCons: the fire pit was 40' away from campsite #18 and sideways and full of sand. The picnic table was buried in sand.Pros: really beautiful beach and sand dunes.Bathrooms could be cleaner, they are minimally cleaned.
Apr 11, 2024 · Jen B.we saw horses immediately upon crossing the bridge onto the island but they didn't wander into the camp area while we were there. saw a few horseshoe crabs on the beach. there were bathrooms and showers nearby.we were there on a very windy night, so staying in a rooftop tent was a bit loud- but bearable.
