Oil City RV and Camping Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the St Clairsville, Ohio area, Oil City RV and Camping, located at 67655 Banfield Rd, presents a basic option to consider. Based on the limited customer reviews available, it appears to be a no-frills campground primarily catering to RVers, particularly those involved in pipeline work, and operates on a *Cash Only* basis. Potential campers should carefully consider the contrasting experiences reported by previous visitors to make an informed decision.
The environment of Oil City RV and Camping is described by one reviewer as a "pipeline campground." This suggests that the location and possibly the clientele are related to pipeline industry workers. It might imply a more utilitarian setting rather than a scenic or recreational environment typically associated with campgrounds aimed at leisure travelers. The surrounding area of St Clairsville, Ohio, offers a more general context, but specific details about the natural beauty or immediate surroundings of the campground itself are not provided in the reviews. Those seeking a getaway immersed in nature might need to explore further information about the area surrounding the Banfield Road location.
In terms of services, one positive review mentions "Full hooks," indicating that the RV sites are equipped with connections for electricity, water, and sewer. This is a significant convenience for RV travelers looking for a place to connect their utilities for a comfortable stay. The review also notes "no 1,001 rules to follow," suggesting a more laid-back and less regulated atmosphere compared to some campgrounds with extensive rules and restrictions. This could be appealing to those who prefer a more straightforward and less structured camping experience.
However, a starkly contrasting review details a highly negative experience involving a payment dispute and alleged unprofessional behavior by the owner, referred to as "Rodger." This reviewer recounts being charged $100 for parking a truck, a preference for cash payment left in a mailbox, and a subsequent accusation of non-payment despite video evidence of depositing the cash. The review further alleges aggressive and insulting behavior, culminating in being told to leave the property and an accusation of the owner keeping the $100. This account raises serious concerns about the management and business practices of Oil City RV and Camping.
The features of Oil City RV and Camping appear to be basic, as indicated by the description "No extra amenities." This suggests that campers should not expect facilities such as a swimming pool, playground, organized activities, or a camp store. The focus seems to be on providing essential services for RVs, particularly full hookups. The positive reviewer mentions that the "Sites were big enough for big fifth wheel with slides on both sides and two trucks," which is a notable feature for those traveling in large RVs and with extra vehicles, indicating spacious sites capable of accommodating larger setups.
The explicit mention of "*Cash Only*" in one of the reviews is a crucial piece of information for potential campers. This policy means that electronic forms of payment like credit cards, debit cards, or mobile payment apps may not be accepted. Campers must be prepared to pay for their stay in cash. This is an important consideration for budgeting and payment convenience.
Given the severely negative experience reported by one reviewer, local users searching for "camping near me" should exercise caution and consider this feedback seriously. While the other review highlights the benefit of full hookups and spacious sites with minimal rules, the alleged issues with payment handling and customer service are significant red flags. It would be prudent for potential campers to seek additional reviews or information from other sources to gain a more balanced perspective or to proceed with extreme caution.
Information regarding any promotional offers or discounts at Oil City RV and Camping is not available in the provided reviews. Given the basic nature of the campground and the cash-only policy, it is uncertain whether any formal promotions are offered. Interested individuals would need to contact the campground directly at (740) 312-2400 or +1 740-312-2400 to inquire about pricing, availability, and any potential discounts for local campers or longer stays.
In conclusion, Oil City RV and Camping in St Clairsville, OH, appears to be a no-frills campground that caters primarily to RVers, offering full hookups and spacious sites. However, the stark contrast in customer experiences, including a highly negative account of alleged scamming and aggressive behavior, warrants significant caution. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully weigh the reported benefits against the serious concerns raised and consider seeking further information or alternative campgrounds to ensure a safe and pleasant camping experience. The "*Cash Only*" policy is also a critical factor to note for payment purposes.

Oil City RV and Camping Reviews
I had the most unpleasant experience of my life in this place if I could leave it 0 stars it would be spectacular because this place does not deserve even 1 star!!today 10-5-2024 they charged me 100 dollars to park my truck, I asked Rodger if he could send them by zelle and he told me that he preferred cash and he told me to leave the cash in the mail box. I left them in an envelope. And he calls me in the morning yelling that he didn't find the envelope and I told him to check the cameras because I left it there and took a video with my phone leaving the envelope inside the mail box he told me that he didn't received the video and to leave his property yelling at me on the phone and insulting me this guy has no respect and is not worth anything SO TRUCKERS!! and people who arrive at that place think very well before dealing with this clown and staying there because Mr. RODGER is not a serious person is Arrogant and aggressive is a waste of time and money or even more than that! AND HE IS A BIG SCAMMER HE KEPT MY $100 no wonder he didn't want me to send it through zelle or cashapp.
Oct 09, 2024 · Eric ViteriIt’s a pipeline campground. No extra amenities. Full hooks and no 1,001 rules to follow. Just basic common sense. We had no issues in the three months there. Sites were big enough for big fifth wheel with slides on both sides and two trucks. *Cash Only*
Dec 12, 2018 · Kimberly LockwoodI have to say I never knew this place was here. It is so quiet you have your space which is wonderful. I would’ve given it five stars if it had better Wi-Fi. I mean I had no Wi-Fi at all and the TV that had the Wi-Fi came in fuzzy and I know that I’d have a much clearer picture if there was Wi-Fi added to this area For the people who rent on a monthly basis, I think it should be offered for good faith. Nobody seems to bother you and you got your hook ups. You’re near so many food establishments that mall is right down the road. It’s a fabulous mall you’re near all the gas stations Great location.
Dec 11, 2023 · Jessica WeissWe stayed here for several months & had no issues! The owner is great & easy to get along with! We got a spot by the valley & its just beautiful to have that view! We had no theft, it felt very safe. It does get pretty muddy, which is no big deal, unless u hav dogs..lots of paw washing! There are no amenities & wifi is useless. Its a very relaxed campground. Its close to everything you will ever need too! 4 stars bc it could use a little TLC & wifi/shower houses/laundry would be a great addition. Price was fair! Lots are spacious, no trees, very wide open campground!
Feb 08, 2023 · Marie ChristopherThe owner of this place is a really nice man. The lots are large and all gravel, however if you have a second vehicle you have to park beside your camper leaving you little to no "yard". The electric is strong and the water is city. Very close to any store/restaurant you would need. Overall, a good place to stay when working.
