Oil Creek Family Campground Introduce
Looking for a genuine "camping near me" experience that feels like you're truly immersed in nature? Oil Creek Family Campground, located at 340 Shreve Rd, Titusville, PA 16354, USA, offers a woodland setting with various amenities for families and outdoor enthusiasts in the local area. You can reach them at (814) 807-8005 or their mobile number +1 814-807-8005 to inquire about availability and plan your visit.
Environment and Setting:
Oil Creek Family Campground is described by one satisfied visitor as a place where you "actually feel like you’re camping ‘in the woods’." This suggests a natural and possibly secluded environment, ideal for those seeking an escape from urban life. Tent campers seem to particularly appreciate the setting, with one noting that the "tent sites are large and mostly private." This combination of spaciousness and privacy enhances the feeling of being immersed in nature.
However, one reviewer mentioned that "many of the seasonal sites... really brought the beauty of the place down." This suggests that while the natural woodland environment is a strong positive, the aesthetic might be somewhat impacted by the appearance of some long-term or seasonal setups. Despite this, the general feeling from another review is that the campground offers a true "in the woods" camping experience with "loads of wildlife," appealing to nature lovers.
The campground also boasts clear night skies, offering "pretty phenomenal views of the stars" with the potential to even see "some stardust thanks to no light pollution and the overall location." This feature would be particularly attractive to those who enjoy stargazing and the tranquility of a dark night sky.
Services and Amenities:
The office staff at Oil Creek Family Campground are reported to be "very friendly and helpful," which can significantly contribute to a positive camping experience, from check-in to addressing any questions or needs during your stay.
For recreational activities, the campground features a pool, although one visitor noted that it could be crowded with "too many screaming kids," highlighting its popularity among families. This aligns with the campground's name as a "Family Campground." Additionally, there is a "frisbee golf course," which is consistently described as "always a blast," offering a fun and active way to spend time outdoors for all ages.
However, one area of concern raised by a visitor was the condition of the "bathroom and showers," which were described as being "in dire need of updates or at the very least a good cleaning with bleach." The reviewer found them "too dirty and stinky to shower there," which is a significant consideration for campers who rely on these facilities. This suggests that while some amenities are well-received, others may need attention.
Another service aspect mentioned was that "the store was closed the entire time of our stay" for one visitor. This could be an inconvenience for campers needing supplies or snacks, so it might be wise for local users to inquire about the store's operating hours, especially during their intended visit.
Features and Activities:
As a "Family Campground," Oil Creek Family Campground emphasizes activities for children, with one reviewer mentioning "plenty of activities to do for the kids." While the specifics of these activities aren't detailed, this suggests that families with children will find ample ways to keep them entertained.
The large and mostly private tent sites cater well to those who prefer a more traditional camping experience. The presence of a frisbee golf course adds a unique recreational element that can be enjoyed by individuals and groups alike.
The natural woodland setting and the opportunity for wildlife sightings further enhance the appeal for those looking to connect with nature. The dark sky advantage for stargazing is another unique feature that sets this campground apart.
Promotional Information (Based on Reviews):
The positive feedback from one reviewer, who considers it "one of our favorite campgrounds to come visit," acts as a strong recommendation. The emphasis on feeling like you're camping "in the woods," the cleanliness maintained by the staff in general areas, the friendly atmosphere among campers (both seasonal and weekend), and the enjoyable frisbee golf course are all promoted through these personal experiences.
The mention of "phenomenal views of the stars" due to the location and lack of light pollution is a unique selling point for astronomy enthusiasts.
However, it's important to balance this with the negative feedback regarding the cleanliness and condition of the bathrooms/showers and the potential aesthetic impact of some seasonal sites. These are areas where potential visitors might have concerns.
For Local Users Seeking "Camping Near Me":
If you're a local resident of Titusville, PA, or the surrounding areas, and you're looking for a "camping near me" experience that offers a genuine feel of being in the woods, Oil Creek Family Campground is worth considering. The large and mostly private tent sites are a significant plus for tent campers, and the presence of a pool and kids' activities makes it suitable for families.
The frisbee golf course provides a fun activity for all ages, and the potential for excellent stargazing due to low light pollution is a unique draw. The friendly office staff also contribute to a positive atmosphere.
However, local users should be aware of the reported issues with the cleanliness and condition of the bathrooms and showers. If these facilities are a priority for you, it might be wise to inquire about recent improvements or to consider bringing your own facilities, as one reviewer suggested.
Additionally, if you are sensitive to noise at night, the comment about the quiet rule not being enforced might be a consideration. If you are looking for a very quiet and strictly enforced environment, this might not be the ideal choice.
To get the most up-to-date information on the condition of the facilities, the operating hours of the store, and any current policies, local users are encouraged to contact Oil Creek Family Campground directly at (814) 807-8005 or +1 814-807-8005. You can discuss your needs and preferences to determine if this campground meets your expectations for a local camping getaway.
In conclusion, for those in the Titusville area seeking a "camping near me" experience with a natural woodland feel, family-friendly amenities, and unique features like frisbee golf and stargazing, Oil Creek Family Campground offers a compelling option. However, potential visitors should also be aware of the mixed feedback regarding the bathroom/shower facilities and nighttime noise levels.

Oil Creek Family Campground Reviews
This is a nice Campground. We are tent campers. Sites were well kept except for the many of the seasonal sites which really brought the beauty of the place down. The tent sites are large and mostly private. The office people were very friendly and helpful. Didn't use the pool (too many screaming kids) having said that, this is a family Campground. The reason for 3 stars is because they do not enforce the quite rule at night. People were partying at least till midnight. Why people have to talk and laugh as loud as they possibly can is beyond me. Inconsiderate people. The other complaint is the bathroom and showers are in diar need of updates or at the very least a good cleaning with bleach. It was to dirty and stinky to shower there. The store was closed the entire time of our stay. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. We will probably return but will have to have to bring our own bathroom /shower.
Aug 15, 2024 · MichaelThis is definitely one of our favorite campgrounds to come visit. It is one of the few campgrounds where you actually feel like you’re camping “in the woods”. Plenty of activities to do for the kids. The staff keeps everything very clean. Loads of wildlife. The frisbee golf course is always a blast. All the seasonal and “weekend” campers alike are extremely friendly. An added bonus is when the sky is clear you get some pretty phenomenal views of the stars and can even see some stardust thanks to no light pollution and the overall location. Definitely recommend this campground!
Jul 28, 2024 · Matthew MyersThis is an awesome, family oriented camp ground that we have camped at since the mid-70's. I even won the Frisbee Golf tournament at 12-years-old in 1977. On top of the usual site rentals, they also offer campers and cabins to rent for those that enjoy camping occasionally but don't own a camper. Check out our of you are looking for a place in NW PA!
May 01, 2024 · Brent HuffmanWe brought our own camper. I believe they have places to rent (rvs) . They also have cabins. Bring your umbrella, 3rd time here and it has poured every time. We had good weather also, just a reminder. They have bikes you can borrow,A pretty nice playground, a place for dogs, a maze (my 2 and 4 year old eventually figured it out, I only vetoed one turn that took us back out at the start, plenty of wrong turns, but we made it out) hiking trail, disc golf ( pretty big course ,more then 9 )geocache nearby, swimming pool,"train" ride for children (usually Saturdays)
Jul 01, 2024 · diduread2day Cstayed over weekend and loved this diamond in the ruff. It even has froffing ( frisby golf) !! We played with two deer that just watched. Tent sights have shade, place for dogs, and a trail around park to walk. I will warn about the roads leading to here. Drive slow and watch out for deer, paced 4 on way in.
