Environment: Osage Campground Retreat is situated close enough to Jefferson City to be convenient, yet surrounded by a more natural setting. The area includes "many beautiful mature trees," providing shade and a scenic backdrop. The campground is bordered by "farm fields, a pond, and an access road that runs next to the highway." While some highway noise is present, reviewers generally find it "tolerable" and "not that big a deal." The presence of a pond with a dock offers opportunities to observe "water birds and turtles," and you might even hear frogs. Notably, river access is within walking distance, with ample parking available if you plan to bring a boat.
The sites themselves are described as "all gravel, pretty level," and having a "decent amount of space between them," enhancing comfort and ease of setup. Each site also includes a "fire pit and picnic table," essential for the camping experience. While one review mentioned that some sites can get "boggy" during frequent rains, it usually subsides quickly.
Services and Features: Osage Campground Retreat offers a variety of services and features to make your stay comfortable. For restroom facilities, there are two bathrooms available for guests that are reported to be "very clean and nicely maintained." Each bathroom has a "large shower" with a detachable shower head and great water pressure. The bathrooms are described as "wide, open, and accessible," though one reviewer noted a potential issue with the placement of a grab bar next to the commode for some individuals.
Laundry facilities are available, consisting of a single coin-operated washer and dryer, with a note that the dryer can be a "little sluggish." For families, there is a "small playground for the kids" and an "excellent playground facility available for young persons and those adults feeling froggy," suggesting well-maintained recreational options for children and the young at heart.
The campground offers "water and electric sites," and it's noted that "all utilities worked as they should." Check-in is described as easy, with one guest checking in over the phone and finding the staff friendly and polite. While "WiFi is not great," cell service with T-Mobile was reported as good. The campground also provides "cleanup stations" for pets scattered throughout the park, though there is no dedicated dog park. There are also "several lovely common areas including a large sheltered spot for people to gather that has a fire pit and grill that can fit a decent sized group." For longer stays, there are mailboxes and a place for packages.
A significant feature for those interested in water activities is that "the campground has and rents canoes and kayaks," providing an easy way to enjoy the nearby river. The staff is described as "friendly and accommodating," with one of the owners, Tina, being "very prompt in responding if you need anything." Osage Campground Retreat Reviews
Nice park for a day or so, close enough to town to be convenient. Overall it’s a quiet park some highway noise but it’s not that big a deal. Most residents look like they’ve been here a while. Restrooms are nothing special but clean, laundry is a single washer and dryer. No dog park but cleanup stations are scattered throughout the park. Small playground for the kids. We could only get a water and electric site but it was a holiday weekend and we had no reservations. All utilities worked as they should site was level gravel. Check in was a breeze over the phone as we were coming into town lady was friendly and polite. WiFi is not great but our service with T mobile was good. Easy in and out for any size rig
Apr 19, 2025 · Keith ConleyWe stayed here for a few months on a work contract and were very happy. It's easy to find, get into, and get out of.There are many beautiful mature trees. The sites are all gravel, pretty level, and they have a decent amount of space between them. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. There is an excellent playground facility available for young persons and those adults feeling froggy. There is road noise, but it is tolerable. It is surrounded by farm fields, a pond, and an access road that runs next to the highway. There are two bathrooms for guests that appear to be wide, open, and accessible, but if you look at the photo the bar adjacent to the commode may have been installed in a spot that could make it difficult for some people to use. There is a large shower in each bathroom with a detachable shower head. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and nicely maintained, and the water pressure is great.Again access is wide and open, so if you have a device to help you ambulate it should be relatively easy to get in and out of.There is one washer and one dryer, both are coin operated. The dryer is a little sluggish. There are several lovely common areas including a large sheltered spot for people to gather that has a fire pit and grill that can fit a decent sized group. There are mailboxes and a place for packages if you need to receive mail. There is a pond with a dock where you can see water birds and turtles! And I didn't see any frogs but I heard them!River access is within walking distance, and it has ample parking if you're bringing a boat. The campground has and rents canoes and kayaks.Be advised- if you're coming during certain times of the year when it rains frequently some of the sites can get boggy. It usually subsides quickly though. We found the staff friendly and accommodating, and though not always on site, Tina, one of the owners, is very prompt in responding if you need anything. They are very good at dealing with disruptive guests.Overall we truly enjoyed our time at this campground and we give it our resounding endorsement. The only thing I might wish for is a dog park, but the grounds have several poop-baggy stations and trash bins, and there are many nice flat spots for walks.Happy travels!
Apr 29, 2022 · Sara TunickThis place is, by far, the BEST campground I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. The camper we stayed in had ALL the comforts “glamping” had to offer! Let alone the bath house (means is squashed themed and CLEAN) and the club house is a GREAT place to kill time while it’s raining or just to get out of the heat. With a new Pool Table As well as a TV and air hockey, just a great place for me and my wife!Great place for families and floaters alike! They have a new (less than a couple years old) playground for the kids along with kayak rentals so everyone can find someone fun to do! The owners are always quick to respond and clearly care about their campground like it’s their own child! One of those places you HAVE to try out at LEAST once!! If my wife can enjoy camping here… ANYONE can!!
Sep 05, 2022 · Jeremy WatfordWhat a great time we had at Osage Campground Retreat! It is family-owned and operated by owners who truly care for the experience of their guests and it shows quite well. The grounds, sites, and facilities are constantly maintained and it was noticed as soon as we arrived. They are always working on improvements and love their wildlife. The site easily accommodated our motor home (36’), truck (20’) and visitors’ cars. The beautiful and updated clubhouse is perfect for families and friends' gathering. While we were there, the clubhouse got renovated to include a pool table, lots of seatings, an air hockey table, games, a vending machine and so much more. The bathhouse has a clean washer and dryer for guests to use. It includes exceptionally large modern showers that are well maintained. They even have river excursions, cabins, and/or to rent.We have stayed at campgrounds in many parts of the country and Osage Campground Retreat was better than we could have hoped for. Although, we stayed 3 months, we felt the time went by too quickly. In fact, we are already planning our next visit there. We can’t begin to say enough great things about the owners, Tina and Justin. They can be reached at all times either by phone or in person. They are accommodating, friendly and always willing to offer their help if needed. Thank you guys for such a wonderful experience. The Lawson Family
May 31, 2022 · S LWe were very happy with the reservation process over the phone (lady was pleasant and helpful) and the accommodation for a late check-out after our two night stay was very helpful to our schedule. The major inconvenience for us and our Furr baby was that the grass and weeds were terribly high at our camping spot. Seriously the weeds all over our lot were higher than our 8lb. pooch is tall.*All the lots around the perimeter of the campground were nicely mowed and well kept. Only the center pull-through lots were obviously not mowed. We would be happy to stay again as everything was very nice except the inconvenience of the above the ankle high weeds!
