Mari Osa Delta Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" near Jefferson City, Missouri, Mari Osa Delta Campground, located at 285 Mari Osa Delta Ln, Jefferson City, MO 65101, USA, presents a location directly on the river. While one review expresses a positive initial sentiment regarding the location and hospitality, another provides a starkly contrasting and overwhelmingly negative experience. It is crucial for potential visitors to consider both perspectives when evaluating this campground. You can contact them at (573) 455-2452 or +1 573-455-2452 for further information.
One reviewer stated, "1st of all, I would definitely go back. The location is great. Their hospitality couldn't have been better." This positive feedback highlights the potential appeal of the campground's riverside setting and the friendliness of the owners. The reviewer initially intended to give a 5-star rating but settled on a 4 due to a discrepancy between an online listing and reality, specifically mentioning that "online it says there is a bait shop, and it no longer exists." This suggests that while the core experience might have been positive for this individual, outdated online information could lead to unmet expectations. The reviewer explicitly stated that if they had not seen the bait shop listed online, they "would have had no expectation and gave a 5 star." This underscores the importance of verifying amenities directly with the campground.
In stark contrast, another reviewer recounted a significantly negative experience, stating, "We have visited more than 100 camps and this one is in the bottom 5. Could be the worst camp in the country. Difficult to maneuver in, narrow gate and steep hills." This paints a picture of a campground with significant accessibility challenges, potentially making it unsuitable for larger RVs or those uncomfortable with steep terrain. The "narrow gate" could pose problems for entering and exiting with larger vehicles, and "steep hills" within the campground could make navigation and site leveling difficult.
Despite being "right on the river," this negative review also noted that they "couldn't really see it through the thicket, steep embankment made going down to the river unsafe." This is a significant drawback for a campground advertised as riverside, suggesting that the actual access to and views of the river may be obstructed and potentially hazardous. This contradicts the positive initial impression of a "great location" in terms of proximity to the water.
The negative review also detailed issues with the electrical system, stating, "30 amp breaker popped and fizzled, so we had to use 50 amp. We could barely open the electric box because the water hook up was in the way." These are serious concerns regarding the functionality and safety of the utilities provided. A faulty 30-amp breaker and an obstructed electrical box indicate potential maintenance issues and inconvenience for RV users relying on these connections.
Adding to the negative experience was the "freeway noise" which was described as "really loud." This suggests that the campground's proximity to a major road could significantly impact the peace and quiet expected in a natural setting, potentially detracting from the enjoyment of being outdoors.
The management's behavior also came under criticism in the negative review. The owners reportedly told the guests "multiple times check out was 11 am" upon arrival. Subsequently, they "called multiple times in the morning freaking out because we hadn't left yet," even though the guests "left at 9:30 am." This discrepancy and the perceived overreaction from the owners raise concerns about their communication and customer service practices.
Finally, the negative review mentioned that the "kids playground equipment was weak," suggesting that families with children might find the recreational facilities lacking. This is an important consideration for those traveling with young children who rely on playground areas for entertainment.
Based on the contrasting reviews, Mari Osa Delta Campground presents a mixed picture for those seeking "camping near me." Key features and potential drawbacks include:
- Riverside Location: Situated directly on the river, which could be appealing for water access and views, although one review noted obstructed views and unsafe access.
- Full Hookup (Implied): The positive review mentions the location, implying RV sites with hookups, but the negative review details issues with the electrical system.
- Potentially Friendly Hospitality: One reviewer praised the owners' hospitality.
- Difficult Maneuvering: Narrow gate and steep hills reported, potentially problematic for larger RVs.
- Obstructed River Views and Unsafe Access: Thicket and steep embankment may limit enjoyment of the riverside location.
- Faulty Electrical System: 30-amp breaker issues reported.
- Loud Freeway Noise: Proximity to a freeway may detract from the peacefulness.
- Questionable Management Practices: Discrepancy regarding checkout time and perceived overreaction reported.
- Weak Playground Equipment: May not be suitable for families with children.
- Outdated Online Information: Bait shop listed online no longer exists, suggesting other information might be inaccurate.
Given the significant discrepancies between the two reviews, it is difficult to ascertain the overall environment and services reliably. The positive review suggests a pleasant location and friendly owners, while the negative review paints a picture of a poorly maintained and managed campground with accessibility and noise issues. Potential services beyond basic hookups are not mentioned in either review.
Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional information. Given the concerns raised in the negative review, it would be prudent for potential visitors to inquire about current rates, amenities, and policies directly with the campground and potentially seek more recent reviews from other sources before making a reservation.
In conclusion, for local users considering Mari Osa Delta Campground for their "camping near me" needs, it is essential to weigh the contrasting experiences reported by previous visitors. While the riverside location and potential for friendly hospitality might be appealing, significant concerns have been raised regarding accessibility, river views and access, utility functionality, noise levels, management practices, and the quality of amenities. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly at (573) 455-2452 or +1 573-455-2452 to address these concerns and gather more up-to-date information before making a decision. Additionally, seeking out more recent reviews from various platforms could provide a more balanced and current perspective on the campground's condition and service.

Mari Osa Delta Campground Reviews
1st of all, I would definitely go back. The location is great. Their hospitality couldn't have been better. I rated it a 4 only because online it says there is a bait shop, and it no longer exists. I want to give a 5 star but 4 because there is no in between. If I had not seen that online, I would have had no expectation and gave a 5 star.

Avoid this place at all possible.
May 11, 2018 · Chris BloomfieldWe lived here when we first began fulltime RV living. Beautiful setting, there has been a campground at this site where the Maries and Osage rivers meet for over a hundred years, perhaps before that. It has changed hands since we lived here but the current owner continues the legacy amidst the natural beauty of God's creation.
Oct 06, 2024 · Les BaltyNice quiet place next to the river, except for the highway noise. Not too many parking spots, only a couple of pull throughs. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return here.
May 07, 2018 · Lanell HooverNice little campground on the Osage River. Nice view of where the Marie's meets the Osage . Very clean bathrooms and shower house.
