Pelican Point FAS Introduce
For local residents seeking a convenient "camping near me" option that combines access to fishing and a picturesque riverside setting, Pelican Point FAS, located in Cascade, Montana, offers an appealing choice. This facility, likely a Fishing Access Site (FAS) managed to provide public access to waterways, also accommodates camping, making it a dual-purpose destination for outdoor enthusiasts. If you enjoy the tranquility of river landscapes, the convenience of being close to town, and the opportunity for fishing and boating, Pelican Point FAS warrants consideration for your next camping adventure.
The environment at Pelican Point FAS is characterized by its beauty and serenity, particularly its proximity to the river. The reviews highlight the scenic views and the peaceful atmosphere that the riverside location provides. Imagine setting up camp with the gentle sounds of the river flowing nearby, offering a relaxing backdrop to your outdoor experience. The historical significance of the area adds another layer of interest, with one reviewer reflecting on Lewis and Clark's exploration of the region centuries ago. This connection to history can enhance the sense of place and make your camping trip feel even more meaningful. The convenience of being close to town is also a significant environmental factor, offering easy access to supplies or local amenities if needed, while still providing a natural escape.
In terms of services, the information available suggests that Pelican Point FAS offers basic facilities, primarily geared towards supporting fishing and camping access. One review mentions that there are "only a few campsites," indicating that the camping area is relatively small and might fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons or when the boat launch is busy. The presence of a boat launch is a key feature, making this location particularly attractive to those who enjoy boating and fishing on the river. While specific amenities like restrooms, water hookups, or picnic tables are not explicitly mentioned, it's reasonable to expect at least basic access provisions associated with a Fishing Access Site. Campers should likely be prepared for a more rustic experience, potentially without some of the amenities found in developed campgrounds. It would be prudent to check with the managing authority (likely Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks) for a definitive list of available services.
A primary feature of Pelican Point FAS is its direct access to fishing opportunities. Being located on a river, it likely provides access to various fish species found in the region. The combination of a boat launch and camping facilities makes it an ideal base for anglers looking to spend extended time fishing. The convenience of being able to camp just steps away from where you launch your boat or cast your line is a significant advantage. The limited number of campsites, while potentially leading to crowding, also suggests a more intimate and less commercialized camping experience when you do secure a spot.
The potential for the area to get busy due to the boat launch is a factor to consider. Campers seeking absolute solitude might need to be aware that during peak boating times, there could be more activity at the site. However, the overall sentiment from the reviews emphasizes the beauty and serenity of the location, suggesting that even with the boat launch activity, the natural charm of the riverside setting prevails.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that prioritizes fishing and offers a scenic riverside environment close to town, Pelican Point FAS in Cascade, MT, is a compelling option. The ease of access for both camping and boating, combined with the potential for a peaceful and historically significant experience, makes it a noteworthy destination. However, the limited number of campsites means that early arrival or checking for availability might be necessary, especially during popular times. The level of amenities is likely basic, so campers should be prepared for a more self-sufficient setup.
Currently, there is no information available regarding specific promotional offers for Pelican Point FAS. As a public access site, it may not have the same types of promotions as privately owned campgrounds. Typically, access to Fishing Access Sites and camping at such locations is either free or involves minimal fees set by the managing agency (e.g., Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks). Local residents should check the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks website or contact them directly for information on any required permits or fees associated with camping and using the boat launch at Pelican Point FAS.
In conclusion, Pelican Point FAS near Cascade, MT, offers a beautiful and serene "camping near me" experience centered around river access and fishing. Its proximity to town provides convenience, while its riverside location offers a tranquil escape with historical significance. The presence of a boat launch is a significant feature for anglers and boaters. However, the limited number of campsites suggests the need for careful planning. Campers should also be prepared for potentially basic amenities. For local residents who value fishing, riverside camping, and a convenient location, Pelican Point FAS is a destination worth exploring. Be sure to check with the managing authorities for the most up-to-date information on regulations, fees, and availability to make the most of your visit to this scenic spot.

Pelican Point FAS Reviews
Good place to fish or camp close to town. Only a few campsites and it can get busy with the boat launch.
Jun 21, 2019 · Coley KingA place of beauty and serenity... As I look at the river here I try to imagine Lewis and Clark exploring the area 200 years ago and what it must have been like then
Aug 06, 2021 · Daniel DeiningerVery busy place. Only four campsites, and these sites fill up fast by the weekend. Tons of flying insects here. Costs $18.00 a night to camp. Decent Verizon 4G signal here though. Quiet at night. Only 7-day maximum stay . Felt safe here. This is still the cheaper option when visiting Great Falls, MT via RV.
Jul 30, 2019 · Steve JohnsonGorgeous spot on the river! Decent place to fish, had a boat lunch, and a couple spots to camp! May very well go back to camp and fish one weekend!
May 29, 2018 · James BamfieldGood campsite if you are a fisherman. There was always a breeze, so that's nice. The only thing is the bugs! Lots of mayflies, which is great for the fish, not so great for humans. Might be better suited for campers and not tents.
