Environment and Ambiance:
The environment at Persimmon Grove Retreat and Camp is described by one reviewer as "clean, spacious, and secluded." This suggests that local users seeking a peaceful and private outdoor experience will find this campground to be a potentially excellent choice. The mention of seclusion implies a setting away from crowded areas, allowing for a more immersive connection with nature. The spaciousness of the sites likely contributes to a comfortable stay, providing ample room for tents, camping gear, and enjoying the outdoor surroundings without feeling cramped.
Furthermore, the campground's strategic location as a "good mid-point between Howler and 2 Rivers Bike trails" is a significant environmental and locational advantage for cycling enthusiasts. This feature makes Persimmon Grove an ideal basecamp for those looking to explore the scenic bike trails in the area, offering a convenient and tranquil place to rest and recharge between rides.
The presence of "great neighbors," including Bear Creek Winery, adds a unique local flavor to the camping experience. This suggests that the campground is situated within a community that offers additional points of interest for visitors, potentially allowing for exploration of local businesses and attractions beyond the immediate camping area. The mention of neighbors with dogs also hints at a potentially pet-friendly atmosphere, although specific pet policies would need to be confirmed with the campground directly.
Services and Amenities:
Persimmon Grove Retreat and Camp offers some unique and noteworthy amenities that differentiate it from more conventional campgrounds. The "potty area w/ bath sink under cover & kitchen sink on outside" is a distinctive feature that provides a blend of basic outdoor facilities with some added convenience. The covered potty area with a bath sink offers a sheltered space for personal hygiene, while the outdoor kitchen sink provides a dedicated area for washing dishes and preparing food, enhancing the outdoor living experience without requiring campers to rely solely on their individual setups.
The "showers on back also outdoor but very nice w/ WARM water" are another notable amenity. Outdoor showers can offer a refreshing and unique experience, and the assurance of warm water adds a significant level of comfort, especially during cooler evenings or mornings. The positive description of the showers suggests that they are well-maintained and contribute positively to the overall guest experience.
While the reviews highlight these specific amenities, information regarding other standard campground services such as electrical hookups, water access at individual sites, or specific waste disposal facilities is not provided. Local users with specific needs regarding these amenities should inquire directly with Persimmon Grove to ensure they are adequately catered to.
Features and Activities:
The most prominent feature of Persimmon Grove Retreat and Camp, as mentioned earlier, is its location between the Howler and 2 Rivers Bike trails. This makes it a prime destination for cyclists looking to explore these trails. The proximity allows for easy access to scenic rides and the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the surrounding area on two wheels.
The mention of a "bearded goat" with a distinct personality ("Sweet to humans but a bully to the other goat") and a "Black sheep" that intervenes in their interactions adds a unique and somewhat amusing element to the campground's atmosphere. While not a traditional amenity, the presence of these animals could be an interesting and memorable aspect of a stay at Persimmon Grove, particularly for families or those who enjoy interacting with animals. However, it's important to note the reviewer's description of the goat's behavior towards other animals.
Beyond the bike trails and the animal residents, the reviews do not explicitly mention other specific on-site activities. However, the description of the campground as "clean, spacious, and secluded" suggests that the primary appeal lies in enjoying the natural environment, relaxation, and the peace and quiet of a more private setting. Local users might find it ideal for activities such as nature walks, stargazing, or simply unwinding in a tranquil outdoor environment.

Persimmon Grove Retreat and Camp Reviews
Clean, spacious, and secluded...and a good mid-point between Howler and 2 Rivers Bike trails!
Oct 20, 2024 · Chris DillonNice place. Not far off the highway & great neighbors (Bear Creek Winery & other people w/ the dogs). Potty area w/ bath sink under cover & kitchen sink on outside is pretty nice for "outdoor potty". Showers on back also outdoor but very nice w/ WARM water. Beared goat is a D**K! Sweet to humans but a bully to the other goat. Black sheep got in between them several times to help out. Yay for Black Sheeps!
Oct 18, 2021 · Debi GBeautiful and tranquil(the name of our campsite). One of the showers had only cold water but the other (with a tree in the middle of it, which was cool)had hot water. It's I expensive & close to Branson. Strangely enough you can hear the highway but it's not horrible. I will be back to try out the other spots or maybe the cabin!!!
