For those in search of "Camping Near Me" in the scenic June Lake Loop of California's Eastern Sierra, Pine Cliff Resort, located at 1 Pine Cliff Rd, June Lake, CA 93529, presents itself as a potential option. Situated in a reportedly nice location and offering relatively inexpensive rates, Pine Cliff Resort caters to campers looking to experience the natural beauty of the area. You can reach them at (760) 648-7558 or +1 760-648-7558 for inquiries and reservations.
The environment surrounding Pine Cliff Resort is undoubtedly one of its key attractions. June Lake is nestled within a stunning glacial canyon, part of the famed June Lake Loop, which is renowned for its breathtaking mountain vistas, pristine alpine lakes, and abundant recreational opportunities. Campers can expect to be surrounded by towering granite peaks, lush pine forests, and the sparkling waters of June Lake itself. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering hiking trails that lead to picturesque waterfalls and panoramic viewpoints, excellent fishing in the lakes and streams, and opportunities for boating and kayaking. The crisp mountain air and the serene beauty of the Eastern Sierra landscape provide a quintessential California camping experience.
Based on the available customer reviews, the services and features of Pine Cliff Resort appear to have both positive and negative aspects. One reviewer highlights the availability of propane refill services, noting that the staff was "more than accommodating" in this regard. They also mention the presence of a store and the fact that the resort is managed by retirees who seem to have an affinity for the lake and the area. This suggests that basic necessities might be available on-site, and there could be a personal touch in the management. The reviewer also points out that the resort operates on a cash-only basis but has an ATM on-site for convenience. Reservations, according to this review, can only be made by phone.
However, the other review paints a less favorable picture of the campground in its current state. This customer advises against staying there due to several concerns. They describe the management as "unpleasant (at best)" and report issues with financial interactions and bookkeeping. The physical condition of the campground is also criticized, with mentions of "dirt drive paths meandering all over the place" and electrical issues at some sites. Furthermore, the reviewer notes that some campsites are significantly unlevel and that the campground feels "way too packed in." This suggests a potentially crowded camping environment with infrastructure that may need improvement.
Considering these contrasting reviews, potential campers should be aware of both the positive aspects, such as the location and propane service, and the potential drawbacks, including management issues, infrastructure concerns, and overcrowding. The comment about the campground being "relatively inexpensive" might be a factor for some budget-conscious travelers, but it's important to weigh the cost savings against the potential negative experiences described.
The first negative review offers some suggestions for improvement, including new management, remapping the park to reduce the number of sites, developing decent drive paths, and reworking the electrical infrastructure. The reviewer also emphasizes the importance of treating customers decently. These points highlight areas that potential campers might want to inquire about if considering a stay at Pine Cliff Resort in the future.
The second, more positive review, emphasizes the need for patience and kindness when interacting with the staff, noting an instance where another customer was rude to the employees. This suggests that while the staff might be accommodating, they are also deserving of respectful treatment. The reviewer's comment, "Enjoy the land!" underscores the inherent beauty of the location, which remains a significant draw despite the reported issues.
For local users searching for "Camping Near Me" and considering Pine Cliff Resort, it is crucial to temper the appeal of the location and potentially lower cost with the reported issues regarding management and the condition of the campground. The availability of propane refill and the presence of a store might be convenient for some, but the concerns about electrical reliability, unlevel sites, and overcrowding should not be overlooked.
To make an informed decision, potential campers should consider the following:
- Contact Pine Cliff Resort directly: Call (760) 648-7558 or +1 760-648-7558 to inquire about the current management, the condition of the campsites and infrastructure, and their policies. Ask specific questions related to the concerns raised in the reviews, such as electrical reliability and site leveling.
- Inquire about site density and layout: Understand how many campsites there are and how closely they are situated to each other.
- Ask about amenities: Confirm the availability and condition of restrooms, water sources, and other amenities.
- Clarify the cash-only policy: Ensure you are prepared for this payment method and understand the ATM fees, if any.
- Inquire about reservation procedures: As mentioned in a review, reservations are currently only taken by phone.
- Check recent online reviews: Look for more recent reviews on other platforms to see if there have been any changes in management or improvements to the campground.
In conclusion, Pine Cliff Resort offers a potentially affordable camping option in a highly desirable location near June Lake. The availability of propane refill and a store are noted as positives. However, potential campers should be aware of the concerns raised in customer reviews regarding management, the condition of the drive paths and campsites, electrical issues, and overcrowding. It is strongly recommended to contact the resort directly for the most up-to-date information and to make an informed decision based on your individual needs and preferences for a "Camping Near Me" experience.

Pine Cliff Resort Reviews
Although in a nice location and relatively inexpensive, we would NOT recommend ever staying at this campground in it's current state. Management is unpleasant (at best) and severely behind in every mode of financial interactions & bookkeeping, dirt drive paths meandering all over the place, electrical at sites is iffy, some sites are at the extreme of unlevel, and it's just way too packed in. Maybe someday new management will remap this park, remove about 25% of this sites, lay out some decent drive paths, rework the electrical infrastructure, etc - oh, and hopefully treat customers decently would be a nice touch.
Aug 17, 2024 · Gregory ButlerWe just happen to stop by to refill my propane tank and the staff was more than accomadating. They are cash only, but they do have an ATM on site. The store and resort is well taken care of by retirees who love this lake and area. Be patient and kind. Sad I even need to mention that, but I personally watched someone give the clerks a hard time because the employees weren't moving fast enough. Needless to say, that guy was talked too. If you want to reserve a site you will need to call, that's the only way they reserve. Not a big deal. Enjoy the land!
Jul 24, 2023 · BryanIf your looking for a "real" camping experience this is a great place to stay. We've been camping here for the past 3 years. They have a hook-up's, store, showers, laundry, tree's, wild life, squirrel's that eat from your hand basic needs for RV/trailer camping. It is very old school as far as technology for checking in, managing sites and payment.I've never had an issue with any of the staff. They have always been helpful. They expect campers to obey the rules of quiet time and fires out a 10 pm. I appreciate the reminder, it helps us stay on schedule for activities and fishing early the next morning. I see it as just doing their job. Keep in mind they are Seniors, so grumpy or rude is just a part of life. This year we lost our dog Bailey. The entire campground was out looking for her. The staff was AMAZING. They drove around on golf carts, checked with flashlight's under cabins, got a blood hound involved. They out did themselves. Our dog was found and it was an effort from staff and campers at Pine Cliff. We can camp anywhere we choose. We will always choose Pine Cliff when camping in the Sierra's. See you next year
Jun 21, 2022 · Rachelle RangelWe showed up last minute after not knowing where we were gonna stay for the night. No one bothered us. The campground was pretty empty for that time of year. (Early May) The staff was very polite the next day and did not give us a hard time at all about coming into the park after hours. There was a fellow camper there that has been going to this site for over 20 years, loves to fish and June Lake has great fishing. More so in the middle than on the sides. There was a few family of deer hanging around, that was cool. And because we came in later than normal, checkout us usually 1030, and they told us not to rush because it was a Sunday and the park wasn't busy. We enjoyed it and will be back.
May 16, 2019 · Rachael DiehlWe stayed one night here in full hook-up back-in site. This is a private RV Park with a long time owner. It has about 200 spots in the popular recreation area of June Lake. This is a cash only business so bring plenty of it. Showers $1.00, laundry $2.00/machine. 30 amp back in $50.40, water-electric only site around $45. Sites are close together amongst tall pines. Easy walk, ride, drive to lake. Only one shower building was operable at the time but it was central to camp. Facility is old, and I believe the word resort is mis-applied here. Staff is generally friendly and helpful. No Wi-Fi, weak but usable cell service.
