Pole Creek Cabin

4.0
An experience not to be missed. If you want to go back in time to 'simple' and uncomplicated. Unplug, hike in and enjoy the stars, the woodburning stove and the company of your tavel companions or self. You can cook on the top of the stove, the cabin heats up fast with plenty of firewood stocked. The access road was snowed in so we had to hike the 1/2 mile but it was so worth it and the kids learned about having to pack, unpack and repack each day with trips back and forth, and take and use only what is required. Previous guests left a little water, fire starters, some canned goods, paper towels, hand sanitizer, dish detergent, wet wipes. TP is provided so don't take up precious packing room. There were mattresses on the bunks and pillows. Light blankets are all that is required when the wood burning stove it cranked. - Lindsay Jackson Nichols

Imagine being surrounded by nature, with opportunities for hiking right outside your doorstep. The cabin's location allows for exceptional stargazing, away from city lights. One reviewer specifically mentioned having to hike a half-mile to the cabin due to a snowed-in access road, but emphasized that the effort was "so worth it," highlighting the sense of immersion in nature that the location provides. The presence of a creek nearby, although not explicitly detailed in the reviews, is often a hallmark of such mountain retreats, suggesting a peaceful and natural soundscape.

The services and features of Pole Creek Cabin are intentionally basic, contributing to its rustic charm. The cabin itself is described as "nice" and "basic," capable of sleeping four people. True to its off-grid nature, there is no electricity. However, it does come equipped with "kitchen basics" and a few "pantry items" that previous guests have thoughtfully left behind, such as canned goods. Cooking is done on top of the wood-burning stove, which also serves as the primary heat source, efficiently warming the cabin with the "plenty of firewood stocked." For sanitation, a "vault toilet" with a locking handle is located across from the cabin. It's important to note that showers are not mentioned as an on-site amenity, further emphasizing the back-to-basics nature of this accommodation.

Several practical features enhance the comfort within the simplicity. Mattresses are provided on the bunks, along with pillows. A crucial piece of information for potential visitors concerns access to Pole Creek Cabin. The access road may not be suitable for all vehicles. One reviewer specifically advises that if you do not have a "higher clearance vehicle" or are not comfortable with "trail driving," it's best to park down at the fence and undertake a "short walk up to the cabin."
