Poplar Point Campground Reviews
Huge place, but sites are all very well spaced and private. So many right on the water. Well maintained place throughout. Dump station is available with four spots. Good pressure rinse water with hose connections. Working in mid November, not sure if they get shut off for winter. Potable water fills throughout the grounds. Price is very reasonable. Military discount too. Reservations are impossible short notice, but FCFS is massive and honestly, maybe nicer sites. Very nice, helpful, and professional staff. Especially Amanda at the gate who could be the highlight of the whole place. Can’t wait to come back!
Nov 20, 2024 · Daniel PothierWasn’t sure what to expect, but we were more than pleasantly surprised by the size of our campsite. We stayed just one Friday night, but it was long enough for us to enjoy speaking with people from all over the Country. Heated bathrooms were nicer than some restaurants I’ve been in as well. If you dig camping, go check it out and I strongly recommend making a reservation before heading out.
Nov 16, 2024 · Christopher ShawThe area was very clean ! The bathrooms had clean and disinfected toilets and showers. Impressive. The access to view the lake from various camp sites was excellent. The woods were tranquil and with a reservation and pass, you could enter and exit as needed if you were camping overnight. As a guest , I had to pay to enter because I was not spending the night. It was well worth it. I received a senior discount to enter for $5.😉
Apr 22, 2025 · Sandra LatimorePopular Pt. is a beautiful, affordable campground that should be the model for other state parks to copy. The towering trees are preserved for privacy and shade. We were pleasantly surprised at the nice "sugar" sands on the private beach, along w/ its large parking area. The restroom/showers @loop 'F' were updated/clean and the 50amp electric service was great to have if your RV has more than one A/C. The only improvement would be to add sewer connections @ the RV campsites. The staff was friendly and kept the campground well maintained.
Jun 12, 2024 · G BumpJust discovered this campground! My husband and I had been going to Parkers Creek Campground for years and arrived there yesterday to find out the loop we usually stay at was closed. So we ventures to Poplar Point for the first time.Loop E is for non-reservation campers only, which is what we typically do, and what we did yesterday.Plenty of beautiful sites! The shower building was great, and the other bathroom was mehhhhhh.... could use a cleaning. But we knew it was the off season. We have a jon boat and was able to find a perfect spot for us to set up our tent and have water access to tie the boat. It was perfect!Loop E 19-68 are non-electric sites, FYI, and you cannot make a reservation! Also, we discovered there is currently a burn ban in effect, so we couldn't have a bon fire, but that was fine with us.
