Ray Behrens camp Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Perry, Missouri area that offers spacious sites and clean facilities? Consider Ray Behrens camp, located at 42993 Ray Behrens, Perry, MO 63462, USA. While the campground offers a generally positive experience, particularly noted for its cleanliness and spaciousness, it's important for potential visitors, especially those with larger recreational vehicles, to be aware of certain site conditions. You can contact the campground at (573) 735-4097 or their mobile number, +1 573-735-4097, for more specific information and reservations.
One of the frequently mentioned advantages of Ray Behrens camp is the availability of "spacious RV sites, many with full hook ups." This is a significant draw for RV travelers, offering ample room to maneuver and set up their vehicles, along with the convenience of full hookups, which typically include water, electricity, and sewer connections. Having these amenities can greatly enhance the comfort and ease of an RV camping experience, allowing for longer stays and the use of onboard facilities without the need for frequent trips to communal service areas.
However, it is crucial for those with larger RVs to take note of a potential issue raised by a reviewer: "A lot of sites have a steep grade and the recreation.gov website should not be relied on for accurate info about site slope. Be cautious about slope if you have a big rig." This is a critical piece of information for owners of larger recreational vehicles, as navigating and leveling on a steep slope can be challenging and potentially damaging. It is strongly recommended that if you have a big rig, you contact the campground directly to inquire about site suitability and avoid relying solely on third-party booking platform information regarding site slope.
On a more positive note regarding site conditions, the same reviewer also mentions that "There are a lot of flat sites with long paved parking pads." This indicates that while some sites may have a significant slope, there are also many level options available, particularly those with the added benefit of long, paved parking pads. These flat sites would likely be ideal for a wider range of camping setups, including both RVs and tents, and the paved pads can offer a stable and clean surface.
Cleanliness appears to be a strong suit of Ray Behrens camp. One visitor explicitly stated, "This campground is very clean. The showerhouse/restrooms on Deer Run looked to be fairly new." Maintaining clean and well-kept facilities is essential for a positive camping experience, and the positive feedback regarding the shower house and restrooms on the Deer Run loop suggests that the campground prioritizes hygiene and provides modern amenities for its guests.
Another reviewer provided insights into the layout and accessibility of the campsites, noting that "Only 2 loops were open when we camped here. The Deer Run Loop sites were spaced out nicely, and most sites had long driveways. Sites are easy to get into." The nice spacing between sites contributes to a sense of privacy and a less crowded atmosphere, enhancing the overall camping experience. The mention of long driveways further suggests ease of access for various types of camping vehicles and setups, making arrival and departure smoother.
One specific camping experience was shared: "We camped in site 34 on Deer Run." While this doesn't provide general information about the campground, it does indicate that the Deer Run loop was open and in use at the time of that review, and the camper felt it was worth mentioning their specific site, perhaps as a reference point for others.
Beyond the campground itself, its location offers proximity to a nearby town with additional amenities and attractions. "Hannibal is about 30 minutes away and offers Restaurants and plenty of attractions." This is a significant advantage, as it provides campers with easy access to dining options, shopping, and various points of interest should they wish to explore the local area. Hannibal, known for its connection to Mark Twain, offers a rich history and numerous attractions that could provide a great day trip for campers at Ray Behrens camp.
Finally, a unique observation was made by one visitor: "If you are lucky enough, you will see some pretty amazing boats in the boat parking area." This suggests that the campground may be located near a body of water that attracts impressive boats, and the boat parking area could be an interesting sight for campers, particularly those with an interest in boating or marine vehicles. This could also indicate potential access to boating or water-related activities in the vicinity, although this is not explicitly stated.
In summary, Ray Behrens camp offers a campground experience characterized by spacious RV sites, many equipped with full hookups. The cleanliness of the facilities, particularly the shower house and restrooms on the Deer Run loop, is a notable positive aspect. The Deer Run loop also features nicely spaced sites with long and easily accessible driveways. However, potential campers, especially those with large RVs, should be aware of the possibility of steep grades on some sites and are advised to directly contact the campground for accurate site information rather than relying solely on third-party booking platforms. The presence of flat sites with long paved parking pads offers a more level alternative. Furthermore, the campground's location provides convenient access to the restaurants and attractions of Hannibal, which is approximately a 30-minute drive away. The potential to see impressive boats in the parking area adds a unique element to the campground's surroundings. For those seeking a clean and generally spacious "camping near me" in the Perry, MO area, Ray Behrens camp is worth considering, with the caveat to inquire specifically about site slope if you have a larger RV.

Apr 18, 2025 · Stephanie KelleyWe've stayed at the full hook up sites here a couple of times. The sites are relatively large, flat, and the paved road is great. It's kid friendly, has hiking trails, and is great for bikes. We love glamping here.
Oct 23, 2024 · Lonny KramerWas ok. Some of the sites weren’t very level and the bathrooms by our site were dirty and outdated. We went to the next sites bathrooms for showers because they were clean and updated. The beach was very nice and had a great time swimming and soaking in the rays. Overall a good experience but would prob find somewhere else next time. Makes me realize that my state of Michigan has the best campgrounds because they’re state funded and not private.
Jul 11, 2024 · Jay ShookVery clean and we'll run campgrounds. Warm and friendly staff, but just too damned far to the lake accesses from within the parks.Definitely not for elderly, small kids or out of shape people. I'm in pretty decent shape and the walking path to the lake was very hazardous, long, steep at times, loose gravel and partially rotted stairs and guardrailing.
