For local users in and around Rock Valley, Iowa, searching for the perfect "camping near me" experience, Rivers Bend Campground, located at 2433 300th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247, USA, offers a compelling option. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this campground provides a blend of natural beauty, well-maintained facilities, and a variety of recreational activities, making it an attractive destination for families, RV travelers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
The environment of Rivers Bend Campground is particularly noteworthy. Situated on the site of a former sand and gravel quarry, the campground has been thoughtfully developed through a partnership between the city of Rock Valley and the original landowning family. This unique transformation has resulted in a landscape that features three small, man-made ponds, adding a distinct aquatic element to the camping experience. Two of these ponds are specifically designated for fishing, offering anglers the chance to relax and potentially catch local fish species. The third pond is set aside for swimming, providing a refreshing way to cool off during the warmer months and adding a family-friendly feature to the campground.
Beyond the ponds, the campground boasts practical and aesthetically pleasing infrastructure. Reviews highlight the presence of concrete drives and pads at the campsites. This is a significant advantage for RV owners, providing a stable and level surface. Additionally, the inclusion of paved walking and bicycling paths throughout the campground encourages exploration and provides safe routes for leisurely strolls or bike rides. These paths enhance the overall usability and enjoyment of the outdoor space for all ages.
In terms of services and features, Rivers Bend Campground appears to prioritize cleanliness and convenience. One reviewer specifically mentions that the bathhouse and restrooms are clean, which is a crucial aspect for a comfortable camping experience. The spaciousness of the campsites, with reviewers noting that sites are "spaced apart," is another significant benefit, offering campers more privacy and a less crowded feel compared to some other campgrounds. The campground is also described as "big rig friendly," indicating that it can comfortably accommodate larger recreational vehicles, making it an excellent choice for RV travelers seeking "camping near me" with suitable infrastructure.
For recreational activities beyond fishing and swimming, Rivers Bend Campground offers a playground, making it an ideal destination for families with children. The presence of two sand volleyball courts provides another avenue for outdoor fun and friendly competition among campers. The combination of these amenities ensures that there are activities to keep campers of all ages entertained throughout their stay.
One honest caveat mentioned in a review concerns potential odors from a nearby cattle farm. While the reviewer still recommended the park, they noted that individuals particularly sensitive to such smells might find this to be a drawback. This is an important piece of information for prospective local users to consider based on their personal preferences.
Based on the consistently positive tone of the reviews, Rivers Bend Campground seems to be well-maintained and managed. The description of it being "as clean as any campground" underscores a commitment to providing a pleasant environment for visitors. Rivers Bend Campground Reviews
Great campground! Sites are spaced apart. Big rig friendly. Bath house/Restrooms are clean. Nice paved walking/bicycling path. The only con I can say if you don't like cattle farm odors, then you won't want to stay here. We would definitely recommend this park.
Aug 11, 2022 · Marti SmithA beautiful campground created on an old sand pit, it was a partnership between the city of Rock Valley and the family that owned the sand and gravel quarry. It features thee small ponds, two for fishing and one for swimming. It has concrete drives and pads, also has concrete bike and walking paths. There is also a playground and two sand volleyball courts. It is as clean as any campground. I love to take my family here
Jun 02, 2019 · Aaron MossMy Families first Camper event of the Summer. Marge, the camp host and crew were so friendly. Beautiful Campground with plenty of spaces between sites for a very reasonable fee. Trees are young so shade can be hard to get unless you have a awning. Bathrooms are both beautifully built, very clean and neat. There were lots of kids but never once had I thought it was noisy. Noise curfew stats at 11pm. It was very quite after that. Plenty to keep the Man Cubs busy. Swimming pond, 2 fishing ponds (we caught loads of Sunfish, Bass and yes, a few Bullheads), basketball hoops, lots of bike and walking trails along the river. It really is a great place. Just a short drive from Sioux Falls for us. Look forward to going back again. Its a great weekend get away. Only negative for us was the catch and release policy in the fishing ponds. Would of loved some fresh fish for supper.
May 15, 2017 · Michael BaierAffordable and beautiful. Electric only in 95 percent of the sites but there is a water fill station and dump station. Sites are huge and concrete pads and roads. 2 large fishing ponds a beack/swimming area. The only thing that would make it perfect is if all the sites were FHU
Aug 11, 2018 · Marylou HostetterNice campground, concrete pads for the camper, 3 little lakes for swimming and fishing, nice bike and walking paths. That being said, the guy circling our camper at 7 am with the riding mower was a definite turn off. After he left we sat outside with our coffee and he came back again and was mowing within 10 feet of us. Aside from being annoying and rude it’s also dangerous. Flying rocks and debris can cause serious injury. I once had the blade break on my mower and it flew out and embedded in a tree so deep we couldn’t pull it out. I would definitely recommend not mowing near occupied sites.
