Riverview Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" and desire a picturesque and budget-friendly outdoor experience in Utah, Riverview Campground in Ashley National Forest is a wonderful option to consider. Located along Forest Road 124, this campground offers a tranquil setting for nature enthusiasts, particularly those who enjoy tent camping and the soothing sounds of a nearby river. Situated within the expansive Ashley National Forest, Riverview Campground provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Utah's wilderness.
The environment of Riverview Campground is a key highlight, as indicated by the positive feedback from campers. The campground boasts direct river access, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenic beauty of the waterway and potentially engage in activities such as fishing or simply relaxing by the riverbank. One reviewer specifically mentioned the "super interesting" rocks along the river, suggesting a unique geological feature that adds to the area's charm and provides opportunities for exploration and nature observation. The presence of heavy woods surrounding the campground further enhances the natural ambiance, offering shade, privacy between campsites, and a sense of being truly immersed in the forest environment. This heavily wooded setting also likely provides opportunities for wildlife viewing and enjoying the natural flora of the region.
In terms of services and amenities, Riverview Campground offers essential facilities to ensure a comfortable camping experience. According to camper reviews, the toilets are well-maintained, which is a significant factor for a pleasant stay in a natural setting. Each campsite appears to be equipped with a fire pit, allowing campers to enjoy campfires for cooking, warmth, and the quintessential camping atmosphere. Additionally, a table is provided at each site, offering a convenient surface for meal preparation, dining, and other activities. These fundamental amenities cater well to tent campers looking for a rustic yet comfortable outdoor experience.
One important point to note, as mentioned in the reviews, is the availability of running water. While one review mentions a "culinary water tap," it also indicates that these taps are "not turned on due to maintenance" during the summer. Another review explicitly states that there is "no running water available in the summer," adding that this was "to be expected." This suggests that campers planning to visit Riverview Campground during the summer months should be prepared to bring their own water for drinking, cooking, and washing. It's advisable to carry an adequate supply to meet your needs throughout your stay. For camping outside of the summer season, it might be worth contacting the campground management at (435) 738-2482 or +1 435-738-2482 to inquire about the availability of water.
The features of Riverview Campground are particularly appealing to those seeking a more traditional and nature-focused camping experience. The emphasis on tent camping suggests that the campsites are likely designed to accommodate tents comfortably. The direct river access is a significant feature, offering both scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. The combination of fire pits and tables at each site enhances the functionality and enjoyment of the individual campsites. The heavily wooded environment provides shade, privacy, and a genuine sense of being in the wilderness. The interesting rock formations along the river also add a unique natural feature that campers can explore and appreciate.
One of the most attractive features of Riverview Campground, as highlighted in a review, is its affordability. At a cost of only $9 per night, it offers a very budget-friendly option for camping in a beautiful natural setting. This low nightly rate makes it an excellent choice for individuals, families, or groups looking for an inexpensive way to enjoy the outdoors in Ashley National Forest. The value for money, considering the location, river access, and basic amenities provided, is quite significant.
Ashley National Forest itself offers a vast expanse of wilderness to explore beyond the campground. Visitors can enjoy hiking trails, scenic drives, wildlife viewing opportunities, and other outdoor recreational activities within the forest. The specific trails and attractions accessible from Riverview Campground are not detailed in the reviews, so it would be beneficial for campers to research the surrounding area of Ashley National Forest to plan additional activities during their stay. The forest is known for its diverse landscapes, including mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers, providing a rich environment for outdoor exploration.
While the reviews are positive about the location and basic amenities, the lack of running water during the summer is a crucial piece of information for potential campers to consider. Planning ahead for water needs is essential for a comfortable and safe camping trip. It might also be worth contacting the Forest Service or the campground directly to inquire about the maintenance schedule for the water taps and whether there are any updates on their availability.
In summary, if you're looking for "camping near me" in Utah and value a scenic riverside location, a heavily wooded environment, and an affordable nightly rate, Riverview Campground in Ashley National Forest is an excellent choice, particularly for tent camping. The well-maintained toilets, fire pits, and tables at each site contribute to a comfortable experience. The unique geological features of the riverbanks add an element of natural interest. However, it is crucial to be aware that running water may not be available during the summer months, requiring campers to bring their own water supply. For a budget-friendly and nature-filled camping getaway in Ashley National Forest, Riverview Campground offers a lovely spot to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

This was such a lovely spot to camp for the night. It was perfect for tent camping. The toilets were well maintained. The rocks along this river were super interesting. It only cost $9/night which wasn't bad. No running water available in the summer, but that was to be expected.
