Riverview Ridge Campgrounds Introduce
For local users searching for 'camping near me' in the Cascade, Iowa area, Riverview Ridge Campgrounds, located at 24224 Riverview Rd, Cascade, IA 52033, USA, is an option to consider. They can be reached at (563) 543-1258 or +1 563-543-1258. However, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of the overwhelmingly negative feedback from recent customers before making any decisions.
Multiple reviews paint a concerning picture of Riverview Ridge Campgrounds, highlighting significant issues with customer service, amenities, and overall experience. One reviewer recounts a deeply disappointing situation involving the cancellation of a reservation due to a family emergency. Despite the extenuating circumstances, the campground allegedly failed to provide a sympathetic response or a refund of the deposit. Furthermore, the reviewer claims that the campground discussed their personal situation with friends who were still camping there, informing them of the refund denial. This lack of empathy and breach of privacy resulted in the reviewer stating they would no longer patronize the campground, leading to a substantial loss of business given their group's frequent use of multiple campsites and additional services.
Another review strongly advises against choosing this campground, stating, "We do not recommend this campground. Don't get fooled like we did." This unequivocally negative sentiment is further elaborated upon with claims that the campground's self-promotion as a "top 5 of Iowa campgrounds" is false, describing the establishment as "unwelcoming and low quality." Specific grievances include the absence of hot water in the single women's shower and the presence of standing water on the floor of the women's restroom, indicating potentially unsanitary conditions.
The quality of essential campground facilities also comes under severe criticism. The dump station and water facilities are described as "poor, unpaved and homemade looking," suggesting a lack of professional maintenance and potentially unreliable functionality. The signage within the campground is also noted as inadequate, with either no signs or only handmade/handwritten ones, which could lead to confusion and difficulty navigating the grounds.
Compared to other camping options in the region, Riverview Ridge Campgrounds is portrayed unfavorably. One reviewer explicitly mentions a campground less than 30 miles away that charges less and is located on the river, offering superior amenities. This comparison underscores the perceived lack of value and quality at Riverview Ridge Campgrounds.
Even visitors who were present as vendors for a city-sponsored festival reported a negative experience. They, as frequent RV travelers with extensive experience across various campgrounds nationwide, stated they were "made to feel very unwelcome at check in." The interaction with the staff member at check-in is described as "RUDE!" An alleged attempt to charge a full day's fee for an early check-in, despite website information suggesting otherwise, led to a confrontational exchange that nearly caused the vendors to cancel their reservation and participation in the local event. This incident highlights a significant issue with staff attitude and customer service.
The reviewer who experienced the rude check-in also noted the general lack of amenities, stating, "Well there are no amenities here, the people are rude, and the experience was bad." They went on to recommend an alternative, Miller Riverview Park in Dubuque, as a vastly superior option. This direct comparison further emphasizes the dissatisfaction with Riverview Ridge Campgrounds.
The concluding remarks from multiple reviewers reiterate the strong negative recommendation: "We do not recommend this campground. We don't usually leave bad reviews but this campground warrants it. Don't be fooled by the website, you won't enjoy your visit here." These emphatic statements serve as a clear warning to potential campers.
Given the consistent and severe criticisms regarding customer service, lack of essential amenities like hot water, unsanitary restroom conditions, poor quality facilities, and an unwelcoming atmosphere, local users searching for 'camping near me' should approach Riverview Ridge Campgrounds with extreme caution. The negative experiences reported by multiple independent reviewers suggest significant shortcomings that could severely impact the enjoyment of a camping trip.
While the campground is geographically located within the local area, convenience of location may be outweighed by the reported negative aspects. Potential campers are strongly advised to consider alternative campgrounds in the region, especially those recommended by reviewers who had positive experiences elsewhere. It would also be prudent to seek out additional, more recent reviews from other sources to gain a broader understanding of the current state of Riverview Ridge Campgrounds.
The lack of positive feedback or any mention of appealing features in the provided reviews makes it difficult to identify any compelling reasons for local users to choose this campground. The emphasis on rudeness, poor facilities, and a generally unpleasant experience should serve as a significant deterrent.
In conclusion, based on the available information from recent customer reviews, Riverview Ridge Campgrounds in Cascade, Iowa, is presented as an unwelcoming establishment with low-quality amenities, unsanitary conditions, and rude staff. Local users searching for 'camping near me' are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly research alternative options before considering a stay at this campground. The overwhelmingly negative feedback suggests a high likelihood of a disappointing camping experience.

Riverview Ridge Campgrounds Reviews
I reserved our tent site for Labor Day weekend several months ago, but due to my father's untimely passing just days before our trip, I was forced to cancel. I contacted the campground to request a deposit refund and express my situation, but they failed to provide a sympathetic response or refund. Moreover, they discussed my situation with my friends who still camped there that weekend and informed them that I wouldn't receive a refund. I'm extremely disheartened by their lack of empathy and will no longer be patronizing this campground, resulting in a significant loss of business since our group typically occupies five tent spots and utilizes additional services.
Sep 04, 2024 · Trisha ThemasWe do not recommend this campground.Don't get fooled like we did.Not the top 5 of Iowa campgrounds, that's a lie. This is unwelcoming and low quality. No hot water in the single shower for women. Standing water on the ground all in the women's restroom. The dump station and water facilities are poor, unpaved and homemade looking. No signage or only handmade/hand written signs. Low quality or no amenities compared to a campground less than 30 miles away that charges less and is on the River! We came here for work as a vendor for a festival put on by the city of Cascade, and we travel quite a bit for work. Not full time RV living but 70% RV living so we've stayed at camps around and all across the country. We have met all kinds of people and stayed in all types of camps so we have a wide base of experience to draw on for this review. We were made to feel very unwelcome at check in and the woman was RUDE! She did not want to honor the ten dollars early check in on the website, she wanted to charge a full day. She said I'm charging you a full day and that's just how it is! She was so rude my wife wanted to cancel the reservation and cancel our participation in the city sponsored event.Sometimes campgrounds are less about the amenities and more about the people or the experience. Well there are no amenities here, the people are rude, and the experience was bad.I want to tell you Miller Riverview Park in Dubuque blew this place out of the water! Way better experience. We do not recommend this campground. We don't usually leave bad reviews but this campground warrants it.Don't be fooled by the website, you won't enjoy your visit here .
Aug 19, 2022 · Donald BoebelI made reservations for two days for camping. I arrived at 8pm and nobody was at the office. So, I called the number on the door as instructed. There was no answer and I left a message. Lady called me back 20 to 30 min I get a call. She says it already too late for wood delivery. So, after waiting for an hour I left. Sucky concrete picnic tables. And hardly any campsite designation.
May 31, 2024 · Larry SalisburyWe've been camping here for years and loved this place. We always made a point to have our first and last camping trip here every season with our travel trailer. It was quit and relaxing and the staff is super friendly and the firewood is very reasonably priced. This year the seasonal campers took over. They were loud way into the night. Had very loud sound systems hooked up to their golf carts with spotlights on them blinding us while we were trying to relax by a camp fire. Lots of swearing. I couldn't count to 20 seconds without a golf cart zooming by our campsite and I tried for over half an hour.I understand campgrounds get popular and it's sad but we won't be coming back to this one.
Sep 16, 2021 · Ronnie NelsonWe had the pleasure of staying at Riverview Ridge over the summer. My wife is a travel medical professional, and we had originally booked our stay at a "RV water resort." We arrived to find that resort was WAY under construction. Mud, gravel and backhoes everywhere. My wife called Riverview Ridge in near desperation, and to our great fortune, they had an open site. They also worked with us to open up the site that we could stay on for the duration of our 13 week stay. We were SO glad it didn't work out with "that other place."Two playgrounds, river tubing, event pavilion and clubhouse, sand volleyball court, ATV/hike/bike trails, and plenty of trees to catch some shade and relax. The short-term and long-term guests we had the pleasure of meeting, were all very friendly. Plenty of kids, so our girls always had a blast. The campground events were always enjoyable, so keep an eye on the board by the office!I've read a few of the negative reviews about golf cart/UTV traffic and loud/raucous parties, and I know first hand that management has taken steps to quell such issues.
