Blue Inn Introduce
For local adventurers seeking a serene and convenient "camping near me" experience in Iowa, Blue Inn in Monticello offers a compelling option. Located at 250 N Main St, Monticello, IA 52310, USA, Blue Inn provides a tranquil camping environment with the added benefit of easy accessibility. Based on feedback from fellow campers, Blue Inn stands out for its cleanliness, quiet atmosphere, and practical amenities, making it a noteworthy consideration for your next outdoor getaway.
One of the frequently mentioned advantages of Blue Inn is its convenient location with easy access to the highway. This is particularly beneficial for travelers who are passing through or those who appreciate the ease of reaching the campground without navigating complicated backroads. Despite its proximity to the highway, reviewers consistently highlight the quiet ambiance of the park, suggesting that it offers a peaceful retreat away from the noise of traffic. This balance of accessibility and tranquility is a significant draw for many campers seeking a restful stay.
Blue Inn is described as a "nice clean park," indicating that the management prioritizes the upkeep and tidiness of the grounds. Cleanliness is a crucial factor for a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience, and positive remarks in this area suggest that Blue Inn maintains a high standard. This attention to detail can contribute significantly to the overall satisfaction of campers, providing a pleasant and hygienic environment throughout their stay.
A key feature of Blue Inn, particularly appealing to RV enthusiasts, is the availability of full hookups. This typically includes connections for electricity, water, and sewer, offering a level of convenience that allows RVers to enjoy the comforts of home while on the road. The mention of full hookups suggests that Blue Inn is well-equipped to accommodate recreational vehicles of various sizes, providing the necessary utilities for a comfortable and extended stay. However, one reviewer noted that the sites might be a "little tight if you have 40’+," indicating that while full hookups are available, maneuvering and space might be limited for the largest RVs. It's advisable for owners of very large rigs to inquire specifically about site suitability when making a reservation.
The check-in and check-out process at Blue Inn is described as "easy," which is always a welcome aspect of any accommodation. A smooth and efficient check-in allows campers to quickly settle into their sites and begin enjoying their time, while an easy check-out simplifies departure. This attention to the administrative aspects of the camping experience can contribute to a stress-free stay.
For those who enjoy the quintessential camping experience of a crackling fire, Blue Inn offers the convenience of firewood available on-site. The review mentions that the firewood is "super cheap and burns good," which is a significant plus. Having affordable and quality firewood readily available eliminates the need to source it elsewhere and enhances the enjoyment of evenings spent around the campfire. This small but thoughtful amenity can greatly contribute to the overall camping atmosphere.
Blue Inn also appears to be a preferred choice for group camping, as highlighted by a reviewer who mentioned camping there annually for a canoe trip with friends. The campground's ability to "accommodate booking sites together" and their flexibility in working with groups is a significant advantage for those planning camping trips with multiple families or friends. This suggests that Blue Inn is equipped to handle group reservations and can facilitate a cohesive camping experience for larger parties.
While the provided information offers valuable insights into the environment, services, and features of Blue Inn, specific details regarding the total number of sites, the availability of tent camping areas separate from RV sites, the presence of other amenities such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, or recreational areas (like playgrounds or picnic shelters) are not mentioned. Similarly, information about any potential promotional offers or seasonal rates is not included in the reviews.
To obtain a comprehensive understanding of all that Blue Inn has to offer, local users searching for "camping near me" are encouraged to contact the campground directly. You can reach them by phone at (319) 462-0770 or via their mobile number at +1 319-462-0770. Speaking with the staff will allow you to inquire about site availability for different types of camping setups (including specific dimensions for RV sites), the full range of amenities offered, any specific policies or rules, and any current promotions or discounts that might be available. Given the positive feedback regarding its cleanliness, quiet environment, full hookups, and group-friendly approach, Blue Inn appears to be a strong contender for a pleasant camping experience in the Monticello, Iowa area.
In summary, Blue Inn in Monticello, Iowa, presents itself as a clean, quiet, and conveniently located campground with easy highway access. The availability of full hookups makes it particularly attractive to RVers, while its ability to accommodate group bookings suggests it's a great option for camping trips with friends and family. The on-site availability of cheap and good quality firewood is an added bonus. While certain details about the campground's full range of amenities and any promotional offers require direct inquiry, the positive reviews from fellow campers indicate that Blue Inn offers a reliable and enjoyable "camping near me" experience in the region.

Blue Inn Reviews
Easy access of the highway but still very quiet. Nice clean park with full hook ups. Little tight if you have 40’+. Easy check in and out. Firewood on site super cheap and burns good. Will be back.
Sep 23, 2024 · Fonda GarringerWe camp here every year for our annual canoe trip with a group of friends. They are able to accommodate booking sites together and are very easy to work with. Highly recommend checking out this campground.
Aug 16, 2022 · Jennie FreiburgerThe campground is nice but they changed my creekfront reservation even after charging an extra $5 "lock in" fee. They refunded it. When we arrived there was another camper in our spot and they were nowhere around. Found they had also been switched unbeknownst to them. I called the office and they switched me to another creekfront spot but I found out later that this spot was one of my friends in my camping party. It was a mess but they refunded our total bill so it was nice that they did that
Aug 23, 2024 · Lee MeyersWe spent one very pleasant night in this little park. Very convenient access from Route 151 with a diesel station along the way. Nice and grassy with mature shade trees, and right on the river. The park wasn’t busy, so the owner let us choose our own site. Our site 24 was a back-in and we had full hook-ups, although the water was shared with site 23, which ran our hose across that site, so we just added to our tank and disconnected. We had no trouble getting level. It had rained a lot before we got there, and some of the sites on lower ground had large puddles. The roads are well maintained gravel and we had no problems getting around in our 40’ motor home. The only negative was mosquitos at nightfall, so bring bug spray, but boy this is a nice campground otherwise. We’d definitely stay here again.
Jun 26, 2020 · Debbie BNice place, good restaurant on site. Would've have five stars, but bugs and flooding while I was there dropped it to four stars.
