Roan Mountain State Park Cabins Reviews
We had a great experience staying at the cabins. They were very clean and cozy. It was nice to sit outside in the rocking chairs sipping on some coffee. A++
Feb 18, 2025 · J SThis review is for Cabins 17-20.Our extended family rented these four cabins for a weekend in April.I read many reviews hoping to get an idea of the distance between the cabins and the parking lot. From the lot to cabin 20, the walk is 1-2 minutes. A very easy distance (maybe 200 yards total). There’s short downhill and uphill to navigate with the luggage cart, or a couple sets of stairs.Luggage carts were generously sized. We were able to transport all our belongings in one trip with two carts. The cabins are fantastic! We appreciated the wood burning fireplace (pick up wood on your way in or at the visitors center), the updated bathrooms and the gorgeous setting.Cabin 20 is next to a small swingset, picnic table and large grassy area that our kids appreciated. Cabins are close to each other, but there are trees between to allow for some privacy.Kitchens are sufficiently but minimally stocked. If it sleeps 4, you will find exactly 4 of everything which led to a decent amount of dishwashing if you cook a lot. The kitchen is very small. We’ll definitely be back!
Oct 15, 2024 · Abby NeffLove our yearly girls' trip to the cabin! This was our 30th anniversary visit. We stayed in the older cabins because the newer ones were being remodeled. The upgrade was amazing, making a remarkable difference for repeat visitors. Updates included flooring, kitchen stove & counters, bathroom showers, window shades, mattresses, furniture, and lighting fixtures. Heating units and thermostats are easier to use and keep the cabin warmer. The wood burning stoves are still in the cabin and make a warm, cozy night for visitors. The only issue is that the kitchen was poorly stocked. My only suggestion would be to stock the kitchen much better. Hopefully, . powers that be will make a visit to each cabin to see what's lacking and making it right for future guests. Take time to escape. You are in for a treat, memories just waiting for you to be made, not to mention, time with friends or family time precious families together.
Feb 13, 2024 · Fran ZA great escape, and a hidden gem. Cabins have been restored and look nice. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is the costs went up with additional charges. For instance, we stayed for 5 nights/6 people, and was charged $20 to get new towels, it was free in the past. Firewood was also complimentary and now $7 a bundle. All in all, a great place to stay but we will shop around for better deals in the future.
Jun 08, 2024 · Rick BarnesWe stayed in Cabin 12. Loved the place-everything you need. Warm in winter and everything was neat. The main reason Im writing this is to be sure folks are aware of a unique feature to these cabins. You cannot park next to the cabin, this makes it wonderfully quiet. However it also means that you must hall your supplies in clever and thankfully supplied wheelbarrels.I chose cabin twelve because its the furthest from the parking lot to enjoy the quiet. Its also at the end of the steepest incline. Per my watch its over 750 feet from the parking lot. With food, kennels, and luggage, it was 6 hauls and just about 2 miles up and down small rolling hills. Im in shape and was solid workout. It was challenging for my nearly 70 year old mom. If you’re not in good shape consider cabins closer to the parking lot. It’s a beautiful, serene place.I took some pics to help with perspective to help with planning. That last bit to the cabin is waaaay steeper than it looks. Their wheel barrels are a good size and smooth on the paved path. The path was salted before and after the snow. The last pic is me coming down the path with the wheel barrel, the cabin in this pic is not cabin 12 but a much lower one (maybe 8 or 9)
