Black Bear Resort Reviews
Delighted to discover Black Bear Resort! My friend and I were on a spontaneous road trip near Cherokee National Forest, TN and needed a place to camp for the night. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and have an array of tiny cabins, cottages, hammock camping, RV camping, and tent camping. There's even a seasonally-open cafe on site and we enjoyed chatting with chef Chuck while enjoying breakfast sitting outside by the small creek. A beautiful waterfall hike is less than 1/2 mile away. We only stayed one night, and would be happy to return and recommend!
Mar 17, 2025 · Lee PanelaI visited Black Bear Resort recently on a work trip and cannot recommend them enough. I'm an archaeologist, which means I do a lot of digging and labor when I'm in the field, so I need a good night's rest. The only motel in the area did not have great reviews, so I decided to stay at Black Bear instead, and I am so happy I did! The location is beautiful, and the owners and staff are friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with whatever you might need. I stayed in the Creekside Cottage, which was very clean and comfortable (and shockingly affordable!) for one person and would make a lovely get-away spot for a couple or small family as there is a futon in addition to the one bed. It was quiet in the evenings, and I fell asleep to the sound of the creek right outside. I was only able to make it to the cafe for breakfast on my last day, but I'll definitely make sure to go more next time. Chef Chuck is wonderful and makes delicious eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. I usually don't eat a ton for breakfast, but I cleared that whole plate. I already told my spouse we have to come back for an actual vacation!

Apr 24, 2025 · Jimi GBlack bear resort is the best place I’ve ever stayed. Will always hold a special place in my heart. Been 3 times, have tent camped, stayed in rustic cottages and the creek side cabins. Both were clean and maintained well. If you are looking for a place to unplug, enjoy nature, and make lifelong connections this is the place. Linda is a great host, the property is always clean and a safe space. Whether you are looking to get off the beaten path with kids or alone this is the place to stay. The store has lots of affordable options for snacks and drinks. The river flowing on the property is gorgeous. My kids loved the new breakfast cafe.
Jul 19, 2024 · Katelyn BuschschulteIf you are hiking the Appalachian Trail, make sure to make this one of your rest stops. Just a half mile from the Dennis Cove Trailhead. It’s a great facility. We stayed in one of the rustic cabins and they were so clean. Electricity so you can charge things but WiFi is only in a hang out area so you can definitely unplug from the world in your room. Make sure you go up the hill for a good breakfast before you set out on your adventure. They have a little shop where you can restock on supplies and a washer and dryer if you need to wash your clothes. We filled out Camelbak’s from the sink with filtered water and went off on our hike!We enjoyed sitting around the campfire talking to the host Mrs. Travis and Charles (Sidequest). I chatted with Mr. Travis in the morning about the hike to Laurel Falls. They were all such warm and inviting people.Whether you are passing through on a trail or just looking for a place to unwind, this is a place you can go and feel relaxed. We were a group of three girls and we all felt safe. If you are thinking about making this place a stop, you won’t regret it!
