Sabao Lake Campground Introduce
Looking for a camping experience nestled in the heart of Maine? Sabao Lake Campground, located on Unnamed Rd in Cherryfield, ME 04622, presents a natural environment for outdoor enthusiasts. Situated within the "camping near me" category, this campground offers a base for various recreational activities. Based on local feedback, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of both the appealing aspects and the areas where some campers have expressed concerns.
The environment surrounding Sabao Lake Campground is frequently described as "absolutely gorgeous." The presence of Sabao Lake itself provides opportunities for fishing and swimming, making it an attractive destination for those seeking water-based activities. Additionally, the area is known for ATV riding, suggesting trails and open spaces suitable for off-road vehicles. This combination of lake access and riding trails positions Sabao Lake Campground as a potentially appealing option for individuals and families who enjoy diverse outdoor pursuits.
However, it's crucial to consider some of the services and features, as well as potential drawbacks highlighted in customer reviews. Several reviewers have mentioned the campground being heavily populated with pine trees. While this contributes to a natural and shaded environment, it also comes with the issue of falling dead limbs. Campers with trailers should be particularly cautious, as there are reports of overgrown roads with unavoidable trees and branches that could scrape the exterior of RVs. This suggests that navigating the campground with larger vehicles might present challenges.
In terms of campground rules and their enforcement, some reviewers have indicated inconsistencies. One significant concern raised is the practice of burning trash by some campers at any time of day, with little regard for neighbors downwind. This could impact the air quality and overall camping experience for others. Furthermore, loud partying late into the night, particularly on weekends, has been mentioned as a disturbance. The use of generators throughout the day by some campers is another point of contention that has affected the tranquility of the campground for some visitors.
The role and effectiveness of the camp host have also been a subject of feedback. Some reviewers feel that rule enforcement is inconsistent, with the host appearing to favor certain campers while overlooking others. Reports of the camp host partying with regular visitors and the presence of excessive profanity within earshot of children have led some to believe that the family-friendly atmosphere of the campground may have declined over time.
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category, Sabao Lake Campground offers a location with inherent natural beauty and opportunities for specific activities like fishing, swimming, and ATV riding. However, it's essential to weigh these positives against the reported negatives concerning road conditions for larger vehicles, falling tree limbs, inconsistent rule enforcement regarding trash burning and noise levels, and the perceived change in the campground's atmosphere.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available online regarding discounts, special events, or new amenities at Sabao Lake Campground. Potential visitors are advised to consider the recent reviews alongside the campground's location and natural features when making their decision. If a peaceful and strictly regulated environment is a top priority, alternative options within the "camping near me" category might be worth exploring.
In conclusion, Sabao Lake Campground offers a lakeside setting with opportunities for fishing, swimming, and ATV riding in Cherryfield, Maine. While the natural environment is praised, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues concerning road access for RVs, falling debris from pine trees, inconsistent rule enforcement regarding noise and waste disposal, and concerns about the overall campground atmosphere. Local users seeking "camping near me" should carefully consider these factors based on recent experiences shared by other campers to determine if Sabao Lake Campground aligns with their expectations for an outdoor getaway.

Sabao Lake Campground Reviews
I have always loved this place... However I wouldn't bring a camper here anymore if you care about the exterior of it. The road is grown in over the years with quite a few trees and limbs that are unavoidable from scraping down the sides of your trailer. Also the whole campground is pine trees with tons of dead limbs that fall at times. My only other complaint is the lack of enforcement of the rules here. There aren't many. But everyone burns their trash at any time of the day with no regard to neighbors downwind. And the lack of manners when there are children as neighbors really disgusted me on this last trip. The "camp host" seems to enforce rules only to some and not others while partying with some of the regulars. You can hear F-bombs every other sentence from the group all the way across the campground and I found it fairly unacceptable when it has always been a family campground. The place is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoy fishing, swimming and riding ATV's here. But quite honestly, It has gone downhill over the years with the change of hosts and my family probably will pick another spot to camp.
Sep 01, 2020 · Uncle RobbWent there to use as a jumping off point for wheeler riding. Got scolded for riding around. People were up until 11p.m. partying very loud Saturday night though... Allowed people to run generators all day. Different than the year before, might not go back next year. I'll have find another place to stay to get to Jack's Snack Shack
Aug 21, 2017 · Shawn DesJardinThe beach is sandy, room to kayak or take a boat out, and close to 4 wheeler trails. Place looks very busy.
