Salmon River Family Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience in the Pulaski, New York region, particularly those interested in the renowned Salmon River fishing, Salmon River Family Campground, located at 437 County Rte 48 #445, Pulaski, NY 13142, USA, presents an option with positive feedback regarding its atmosphere and location. With contact numbers (315) 980-1119 and +1 315-980-1119, connecting with the campground for inquiries and bookings is readily accessible. Reviews from campers provide insights into the environment, services, and features, highlighting both the strengths and potential areas for consideration.
The location of Salmon River Family Campground in Pulaski, NY, places it in close proximity to the Salmon River, a major attraction for anglers, especially during the salmon and steelhead runs. This environment is characterized by the natural beauty of Oswego County, with rivers, forests, and its nearness to Lake Ontario. The campground's name, "Salmon River Family Campground," suggests a dual focus on catering to fishing enthusiasts and providing a welcoming environment for families.
One reviewer enthusiastically shared their positive experiences over multiple years, stating, "We were one of the first groups to stay in 2023 and we loved it so much we came back for 2024 and while we were there we booked for 2025." This strong repeat business indicates a high level of satisfaction with the campground's overall offering.
The same reviewer specifically praised "George," presumably the owner or manager, for being "super helpful" and having "great communication." They also noted that George "accommodated all our requests without hesitation" and ensured they were "ready for our amazing weekend." This highlights the personalized and attentive service that some campers have experienced at Salmon River Family Campground.
A key reason this reviewer chose to stay at Salmon River Family Campground was "the welcoming atmosphere and the great location being close to the river." This underscores two significant features: a friendly and inviting environment and the convenience of being near the Salmon River, making it an ideal base for fishing trips.
The reviewer explicitly recommends the campground to those coming to fish, stating, "If you are coming to fish this is the place to stay!" This strongly suggests that the campground is well-suited to the needs of anglers, potentially offering amenities or knowledge relevant to fishing on the Salmon River.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience. This reviewer reported difficulties in contacting the host, George, upon arrival despite prior communication. They also mentioned observing a "garden hose someone complained about" and referenced "a few other bad reviews I should've considered." While this review did not stay at the campground due to a lack of available spots, it raises a point about potential inconsistencies in management or maintenance that local users might want to consider alongside the positive feedback.
Based on the available reviews, we can infer the following services and features at Salmon River Family Campground:
- Campsites suitable for various types of camping, likely including tent and RV sites, given its appeal to families and fishermen.
- Proximity to the Salmon River, offering easy access for fishing and potentially other water-related activities.
- A welcoming and friendly atmosphere, as highlighted by a repeat visitor.
- Helpful and accommodating management, with specific praise for George.
- Potentially, amenities or information catering to fishermen, given the strong recommendation for those coming to fish.
Conversely, potential areas for consideration based on the second review include:
- Possible inconsistencies in on-site management presence or responsiveness.
- Potential maintenance issues, as alluded to by the "garden hose" comment and the reference to other negative reviews (though these are not detailed).
- The importance of confirming reservations and arrival times with the management, especially if phone service in the area is reported as "spotty."

Inquiring about amenities such as hookups for RVs, restroom and shower facilities, fire pits, picnic tables, and any specific services for fishermen would also be beneficial.
For local users considering Salmon River Family Campground for their next "camping near me" trip, it is recommended to:
- Call the provided phone numbers to inquire about campsite availability, types of sites, amenities, and pricing.
- Specifically ask about the campground's facilities and services related to fishing on the Salmon River.
- Inquire about the best way to communicate with the management regarding arrival times and any specific needs.
- Consider the mixed reviews and perhaps seek more recent feedback from other campers if available on online camping platforms or social media.
- Ask about the campground's policies regarding reservations and cancellations.
- Confirm the exact location and accessibility of the campground using online maps.
In conclusion, Salmon River Family Campground in Pulaski, NY, offers a potentially appealing "camping near me" option, particularly for those drawn to the area for fishing on the Salmon River. The positive feedback regarding the welcoming atmosphere and helpful host, George, is encouraging. However, the contrasting experience in the other review suggests that local users might want to engage directly with the campground to ensure it meets their expectations and to clarify any concerns regarding management responsiveness and site conditions.

Oct 13, 2024 · Kylee GrangerGeorge..George..where are you George?!?! I showed up at the time I told you, hung around a few, left & came back three more times knocking on the door but nobody was home! My phone service was spotty & we didn't connect but there was no camp spots left anyway. I seen the garden hose someone complained about, a few other bad reviews I should've considered but gave it a go.Business tip; run it like one. 👍
Oct 11, 2024 · J CMy family has camped here 4 times and it was great. It was nice and peacful my kids had space to play and ride bikes George was always there to meet us and if we needed wood he always had some at the camp store it is a great place to camp and we will be going back
Oct 14, 2024 · spyro19815Stated that full water/septic and wifi would be set up soon after our arrival. We stayed 10 months out of the year agreement and the only thing we got was the workers repeatedly knocking on our door demanding that our camper be relocated to different spots on the campground. We left after 10 months with the agreement that we would be reimbursed for the 2 months that we did not stay due to the lack of previously stated amenities, that was almost a year ago and we are still waiting to be paid the remaining $890 and our attempts to contact the owner go unanswered. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Jun 03, 2024 · Jaymie GerlachMy boyfriend and I stayed at this campsite this weekend. I had an amazing time and the view was beautiful especially while laying underneath the clear skies looking at the stars. I will for sure be coming back sometime soon the owner was so sweet and he treats everyone like family :) he’s so happy and positive, he put a smile on our face and made us laugh!
