Great place to launch your boat. Can get busy on weekends. However, there isn't a lot of current at the location, which makes launching your boat and loading it much easier. The place only charges $5 to launch. $2 for any additional cars that need to park. This launch can get busy at times, so be patient. You are supposed to he able to launch 2 boats at a time. However, some people back up right in the middle of the ramp. So I would suggest that if you are not good at backing a trailer up, this might not be the right launch site for you. There are plenty of boat ramps along both the Suwannee River and Santa Fe River that are less busy if you need practice backing your boat up. This boat launch does offer gas, and they have a new dock to it as well. There also is an ice machine here, which is a bonus. The staff on site are amazing and will help you find parking as well as take you back to your boat. This launch puts you on the Santa Fe River just above the mouth of the Suwannee River and just above Ellie Rays' campground. Upstream a little ways you can enjoy the Itchtucknee river where it dumps into the Santa Fe River. - Janet Stiles

For boaters, the campground offers a "great place to launch your boat" for a nominal fee of "$5" per launch, with an additional "$2 for any additional cars that need to park." The presence of "gas" available at the launch is a significant convenience for boaters, eliminating the need to travel elsewhere for fuel. A "new dock" has also been added to the boat launch, enhancing the ease and safety of getting boats in and out of the water. Another valuable service is the availability of an "ice machine" on-site, which is particularly beneficial for keeping drinks and food cold during warm Florida days. The reviews highlight the "amazing" staff who are willing to assist with parking and even provide transportation back to your boat, indicating a high level of customer service. For campers, the campground offers "good for just a day, or a week, or monthly rates for a season," providing flexibility for various stay durations, whether it's a quick weekend escape or a longer seasonal retreat. While specific details about campsite amenities (such as water, electricity, or restroom facilities) are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, the availability of monthly rates suggests that the campground likely offers more than just primitive camping, potentially including sites with hookups or access to communal facilities. The quiet atmosphere also serves as a key service for those seeking a peaceful camping experience.

The features of Sandy Point Campground are particularly attractive for those who enjoy river-based activities and a tranquil camping environment. The primary feature is the excellent boat launch on the Santa Fe River, praised for its ease of use due to the lack of strong current. The availability of gas and ice directly at the launch adds significant convenience. The new dock further enhances the boating experience. For campers, the "great quiet campground" atmosphere is a major feature, promising a relaxing stay. The flexibility of daily, weekly, and monthly rates caters to different needs and preferences, making it suitable for short visits or longer seasonal stays. The campground's location just above the mouth of the Suwannee River and near the Itchetucknee River confluence provides access to diverse river experiences, from the gentle Santa Fe to the wilder Suwannee and the pristine Itchetucknee. The positive remarks about the "amazing" and helpful staff contribute significantly to the overall appeal and experience of the campground.
