Shady Point Campground Introduce
Are you searching for an amazing "camping near me" experience in Michigan, particularly one that caters to families and offers a lakeside setting? Consider Shady Point Campground, located at 12337 Bair Lake St, Jones, MI 49061, USA. You can reach them at (269) 244-5702 or +1 269-244-5702. Based on customer reviews, this campground is praised for its exceptionally maintained grounds, friendly owners/managers, and a variety of family-oriented activities, all set around a private lake. While some guests noted that the campsites can be a bit snug, the overall sentiment leans towards a positive and memorable family camping destination.
The environment of Shady Point Campground centers around its "private and gorgeous" lake. This offers campers the opportunity to enjoy waterfront activities in a potentially more secluded and intimate setting compared to larger public lakes. The campground boasts "clean and safe" beaches, making it ideal for families with children who want to swim and play by the water. Fishing is also available from the dock, with the possibility of catching small bluegill, bass, and catfish among the lily pads. The grounds and common areas are consistently highlighted as "the best kept and clean" that many visitors have seen in years, indicating a well-cared-for natural setting. While some campsites have trees, providing shade, this may not be the case for all spots. For those seeking "camping near me" with a focus on a clean, private lake environment and well-maintained surroundings, Shady Point Campground appears to be a strong contender.
In terms of services, the owners/managers of Shady Point Campground are frequently commended for going "above and beyond" to ensure a 5-star plus stay for their guests. The host, Jan, is specifically mentioned as being "very nice and accommodating." The campground features a camp store with a "good selection of forgotten/'oops I broke or lost it' items," which is a valuable service for campers. While they might not have every specific item (as one reviewer humorously noted their lack of a low point drain cap), the presence of a store adds convenience. For recreational activities, the campground offers kayak and paddle board rentals, providing opportunities to enjoy the lake. The availability of full hookup sites is also mentioned, although one reviewer experienced the sewer hookup of a neighboring site being somewhat obtrusive. The fact that golf carts are allowed (with proof of liability insurance) suggests a certain level of convenience for navigating the campground. Overall, the services aim to provide a comfortable and enjoyable "camping near me" experience for families.
The features of Shady Point Campground are particularly geared towards families. There are "lots of things for kids to do," including two beaches and a park. During certain weekends, they even have additional attractions like a jumpy house. The private lake with its clean beach and swimming area is a major feature. The availability of kayak and paddle board rentals allows for on-water recreation. While one reviewer found the sites to be "a bit small," the presence of trees at some sites was appreciated. The allowance of golf carts (with insurance) can be seen as a feature that enhances mobility within the campground. The small, clean beach area with pebble sand and the fishing dock add to the lakeside charm. Despite the size of some campsites being a concern for some, the abundance of family-friendly features makes Shady Point Campground an attractive option for those "camping near me" with children.
Regarding promotional information, the consistently positive feedback about the owners/managers and the cleanliness of the grounds is a significant selling point. Emphasizing the private lake with its clean beaches and the array of family activities (playground, rentals, special weekend features like a jumpy house) would likely appeal to families looking for a memorable "camping near me" experience. Highlighting the availability of a camp store for forgotten items and the friendly, accommodating service could also attract visitors. While the smaller site sizes might not be ideal for everyone, focusing on the overall family-friendly atmosphere and the quality of the lake and common areas would be a strong promotional strategy. To learn about any specific promotions, seasonal rates, or upcoming events (like themed weekends or special activities), contacting Shady Point Campground directly via phone would be the best way for local users to get the most up-to-date information and plan their visit.
In conclusion, Shady Point Campground in Jones, MI, offers a compelling "camping near me" option, especially for families. Its private lake with clean beaches, the exceptionally well-maintained grounds, and the friendly, attentive owners/managers are frequently praised. The abundance of kid-friendly activities, including a park, rentals, and occasional extras like a jumpy house, makes it a place where family memories can be easily made. While some reviewers noted that the campsites can be a bit small, the overall positive experience and the focus on creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment make Shady Point Campground a place worth considering for your next "camping near me" adventure in Michigan. Don't hesitate to call them to learn more about what they offer and to book your stay.

Such an amazing place. The owners/managers go above and beyond to make sure your stay is 5 star plus. The grounds and common areas are the best kept and clean I've seen in many years. It's small but packed full of great opportunity for family memories. The lake is private and gorgeous. Beaches and playground clean and safe. Take a look, you'll be glad you did.
Aug 13, 2023 · Cindy NicholsVery cute campground. Small clean beach area with pebble sand. A few spots to fish from the dock, with some room between the Lilly pads. Tiny little bluegill, bass, and cat fish. The host Jan was very nice and accommodating. The camp store had a good selection of forgotten/'oops I broke or lost it' items. We lost our low point drain cap...they didn't have one, lol. Totally fine, we got to see Cassopolis and their cute hardware store. The sites are a bit small for our liking. We had another 6' on the other side we could have maybe scooted over, but still a bit snug. We were at site 17 between 2 other campers, and the sewer for the full hookup of one was in our front yard. We put up some tapestries to hide the eye sore. We had trees, which not all spots had, that was really nice. This is a family-friendly place, lots of things for kids to do, kayaks and paddle boards for rent, 2 beaches, a park, and this weekend there was a jumpy house.Golf carts are allowed with proof of liability insurance.Overall, it was a great place, just not my cup of tea. I'm happy to have had a place to stay over the holiday weekend, though!
Sep 03, 2024 · Kimmie AlbersCame to visit family. I LOVE this place. I’d give it 5 stars BUT with observing with how many doggos are there, it would be awesome to have a dog park for pups to run around. I would definitely set up donations for campsite to get a dog park instead of the tennis court they have by the club house.Love it otherwise will be back!!
Jul 28, 2024 · Anastasia KoucouthakisWe camped there over 12 years…within a week we were asked to leave because our lot was sold..My husband had a week tearing apart a beautiful deck, we kept our lot up.75% of what they wrote about the campground were false….piers falling apart, maintenance on the property was not kept up…everything they told us they were going to do wasn’t done…or they would ask you to volunteer to scrap, paint, wash, ect.. We went up every weekend and we went there to relax not to do their work. With all the money they get they should hire it out..Terri ask me why we kept coming if I was so miserable, this was after we were told to move. See I thought Terri LOVED US AND WE WERE FAMILY…YOU DONT TREAT FAMILY LIKE THIS..I told her it was due to the friends we made…well I thought….until our neighbors bought our lot and put up a bar ( Thanks DJ and Angel) and NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO US.. This really made me lose my trust in people..Imagine all summer and they wait till the end of the season to inform us that..What is sad is that they don’t love you they love your money…yes we could of bought in but my husband and I do not trust these people…$30,000.00 a lot and you can olny be there 5 months…May through Sept..and we heard they have evicted people that have bought in to this so called “resort” which it truely isn’t….not sure how that happen..Yes,Terri, Jan and Steve this truly sucked, and your happy butts are on your way to the bank.. There is more to life than treating people like you guys do … how do you sleep at night??
Oct 05, 2024 · Donna ButlerAll the lots were so close together, there was hardly any yard to enjoy. 95% were seasonal. The lake was the high point even though there were tons of fish hitting on our legs .Quiet place. People were friendly!
