Experience the Beauty of Crescent Lake and Its Surroundings
The primary draw of Simax Group Campground is its location on Crescent Lake, renowned for its clear, albeit somewhat cold, water. The breathtaking beauty of the lake provides a stunning backdrop for any camping trip. Whether you're gazing at the serene waters from your campsite or engaging in water activities, the visual appeal of Crescent Lake is consistently highlighted by visitors. The clear water invites exploration and offers opportunities for observing the underwater environment.
The lake's beach area is characterized by pumice, a type of volcanic rock. While this natural surface contributes to the unique beauty of the shoreline, it is advisable to wear water shoes to protect your feet while walking along the beach and entering the water. This small precaution will ensure a more comfortable experience as you enjoy the lakeside.
Beyond the lake itself, the Crescent Lake area in Oregon is known for its natural beauty, likely surrounded by forests and potentially offering opportunities for hiking and exploring the wider landscape. While the reviews don't explicitly detail hiking trails directly from the campground, the region is known for its outdoor recreational potential, making Simax a great basecamp for exploring the surrounding areas.
Spacious and Well-Maintained Group Campsites
Simax Group Campground offers three distinct group camping areas: A, B, and C. Reviews provide insights into the specific advantages of some of these sites. Group camp C is described as having "TONS of space" and is considered "definitely the best option of A, B, or C" by one reviewer. This suggests that if your group requires a large area with ample room for tents, activities, and mingling, Site C would be a prime choice.
Another reviewer shared their positive experience at Group Site B, noting that it was "perfect for our group as we had more tents than trailers." This indicates that Site B might be better suited for groups with a greater number of tents compared to RVs or trailers. The view of the lake from campsite B was also described as "really beautiful," highlighting the scenic advantage of this particular area.
A significant positive aspect mentioned in the reviews is the cleanliness and well-maintained nature of the facilities. This contributes greatly to a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience for large groups. Knowing that the restrooms and campsites are kept in good order adds to the overall satisfaction of staying at Simax.
Exceptional Camp Host Service
A standout feature of Simax Group Campground is the presence of a dedicated and helpful Camp Host named Liz. According to one reviewer, Liz "was great and stopped by daily to check on the bathrooms and camp sites." This regular attention from the camp host ensures that facilities are monitored and any potential issues are addressed promptly. The reviewer emphasized the positive impact of having a camp host, stating, "It makes a huge difference when you have a camp host so we really appreciated her." This level of service can significantly enhance the group camping experience, providing a point of contact for questions and ensuring a well-managed environment.
Potential Inconvenience: Mosquitoes
One potential drawback mentioned by a reviewer is the presence of mosquitoes in the campground. They note, "Mosquitos in camp." While acknowledging this, the reviewer also states that the overall "gorgeous lake experience" makes it "well worth it." This suggests that while mosquitoes might be present, particularly during certain times of the year, they are manageable enough not to detract significantly from the enjoyment of the lake and the campground itself. Campers planning a visit should come prepared with insect repellent to mitigate any potential annoyance from mosquitoes.

Simax Group Campground Reviews
The most beautiful lake in Oregon. Water is clear but a little cold. Beach is pumice so wear water shoes to protect feet. Mosquitos in camp. All of this well worth is for the gorgeous lake experience. Simax C group camp has TONS of space and is definitely the best option of A, B, or C
Jul 09, 2024 · Kelsy NordholmWe just spent 6 days camping at Crescent in group site B. We’ve camped at the group site several times but always in Group C. Group site B was perfect for our group as we had more tents than trailers. The view of the lake from the campsite was really beautiful and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. Liz, the Camp Host was great and stopped by daily to check on the bathrooms and camp sites. It makes a huge difference when you have a camp host so we really appreciated her.
