Slumber Valley Campground Introduce
For those in the local area searching for "camping near me," Slumber Valley Campground, located at 248 Meshoppen Creek Rd, Meshoppen, PA 18630, USA, presents a potential option. You can contact them at (570) 833-5208 or +1 570-833-5208. While situated in the USA, the concept of finding a convenient and enjoyable campground close to home is universal.
Based on the available customer reviews, the environment of Slumber Valley Campground seems to have both positive and potentially less desirable aspects. One reviewer who identified as a motorcycle camper found the location suitable for their trip and the campground "scenic." Another camper with experience at various camping locations considered this place "the best," particularly noting that even when busy, the "rustic camping" area did not feel crowded. This suggests that the campground may offer a sense of spaciousness, especially in its more natural camping areas. However, another review mentioned a significant drawback: "truck noise" due to the campground's proximity to US6, which was described as "pretty annoying." Therefore, while some areas might offer a scenic and uncrowded experience, potential noise from the nearby highway is a factor to consider regarding the overall environment.
In terms of services, some positive aspects were noted. The staff was described as "always friendly" by one reviewer. Another mentioned that "the bathrooms were clean" and that "the whole campground seemed pretty tidy and generally well run." These are important aspects for a comfortable camping experience. However, other service-related comments were less positive. One reviewer highlighted a charge of $38 for a basic tent site without electricity, which they felt was expensive, along with a $20 cash-only key deposit required to access the gate after 7 PM. This reviewer also experienced an issue where their key did not open the gate upon their return. Furthermore, the same reviewer noted the inconvenience of the cash-only payment policy and the difficulty in retrieving the key deposit when the office was closed at their departure time. While basic amenities like clean bathrooms appear to be provided, potential campers should be aware of the pricing for basic sites, the gate key deposit system, the cash-only policy, and the possibility of encountering issues with gate access or deposit returns outside of office hours.
Features of Slumber Valley Campground, based on the reviews, include "rustic camping" areas that are perceived as not feeling crowded, even when the campground is busy. The scenic quality, at least from the perspective of one motorcycle camper, suggests that the location has some natural appeal. The clean bathrooms are a notable feature contributing to overall tidiness. However, the proximity to US6, leading to truck noise, can be considered a less desirable feature. The gate requiring a key for access after 7 PM is a feature that provides security but also comes with a deposit and potential access issues if the key malfunctions. The cash-only payment policy is another characteristic of the campground's operational procedures. While one reviewer found the location suitable for a motorcycle trip, this might be a specific feature appealing to certain types of travelers. The availability of both potentially scenic and rustic camping alongside the basic necessity of clean restrooms seems to be the main features highlighted in the provided feedback.
There is no promotional information explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Campgrounds often have varying rates depending on the type of site (e.g., tent, RV, with or without hookups), the season, and the duration of stay. For local users considering Slumber Valley Campground, it would be advisable to contact them directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, any available discounts, and their policies regarding payment, gate access, and key deposits. Knowing the current pricing and policies will help in making an informed decision.
In conclusion, Slumber Valley Campground in Meshoppen, PA, offers a camping experience where some reviewers have appreciated the scenic aspects, the uncrowded feel of the rustic camping areas, and the friendliness of the staff, along with the cleanliness of the bathrooms. However, potential drawbacks such as noise from the nearby US6, the cost of basic tent sites, the cash-only policy, and the gate key system with its deposit and potential for access issues have also been reported. For local users looking for "camping near me," Slumber Valley Campground presents a mixed picture based on these reviews. It is recommended to weigh the reported positives (scenic potential, spacious rustic camping, friendly staff, clean bathrooms) against the negatives (highway noise, cost of basic sites, cash-only, gate key system) and to contact the campground directly for the most current information on pricing, policies, and any ongoing promotions before making a decision.

Slumber Valley Campground Reviews
Out of every place I've been camping, I think this place is the best. Even when they're at their busiest, you don't feel crowded ( at least rustic camping). The staff is always friendly, and the rates are very reasonably priced.
Jul 20, 2024 · Eric LSaw this on a YouTube video made by some motorcycle campers. It looked scenic, they liked the site, and the location suited my motorcycle trip. Unfortunately I didn't check the rates. $38 seems like a lot for a basic tent site (no electric) + $20 key deposit to get through gate after 7PM. Cash only was somewhat inconvenient. I definitely was NOT a happy camper when my key DID NOT OPEN THE GATE when I returned at 7:50 PM. Because I had left my side bags at the site, I was narrow enough to squeeze between the end of the gate and the big rock. The next downside I experienced here was the truck noise. The campground is close enough to US6 that truck noise is pretty annoying.Because rain was predicted to start at nine, I got packed and was leaving then as the rain in fact started right on schedule. Unfortunately, the office was closed, so I couldn't get my $20 key deposit back unless I stood in the rain and waited for an hour. Several days later as I was heading home, I took a detour to get my $20.I won't come here again and I won't recommend it to any friends, but it is worth noting the the bathrooms were clean and the whole campground seemed pretty tidy and generally well run.
