Rustic Creek Family Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Tunkhannock, PA area? Rustic Creek Family Campground, located at 30 Vacation Ln, presents itself as an option. However, based on recent customer reviews, potential local users should be aware that the feedback primarily focuses on significant issues related to customer service and the handling of reservations impacted by a past flood event.
For local users in the "camping near me" category, it's important to have a comprehensive understanding of a campground before making a booking. In the case of Rustic Creek Family Campground, the available reviews do not describe the environment, services, or features in a positive light. Instead, they detail considerable difficulties with communication, refunds, and the handling of credits following a flood that affected the campground.
Due to the nature of the provided reviews, it is challenging to give a detailed description of the environment, services, and features of Rustic Creek Family Campground. The focus of the feedback is overwhelmingly on negative customer service experiences rather than the campground's physical attributes or amenities. One review mentions that the website previously presented the facility in an "appealing manner," but this does not provide objective details about its current state or typical offerings.
The recurring theme in the reviews is a severe lack of satisfactory customer service. One reviewer attempted to communicate about a booking moved after a flood in the previous year (presumably 2024, with the review occurring in early 2025) but reported having "no avail." This same reviewer mentioned that friends who had booked were blocked from the campground's Facebook page and were refused a refund, with the campground stating they would "just keep the money." A refund was only obtained after a dispute with the credit card company. This reviewer advises potential travelers to "be cautious."
Another detailed review recounts a group's experience starting with a reservation made after reviewing an appealing website. When a flood rendered the campground "largely unserviceable," the group initially considered keeping their reservation out of empathy. However, later, due to a family loss making travel unfeasible, they attempted to cancel or postpone. They were initially told a refund would be issued, but it did not materialize. Subsequent attempts to resolve this led to conflicting information from the campground, including claims that no credit existed and that a refund had been issued, which the bank confirmed was not the case. Ultimately, the owner allegedly accused the group of "theft of services," instructed staff not to process refunds or respond to their communications, and blocked one member from their Facebook page.
Features, services, and environmental details are largely absent from these reviews due to the focus on customer service issues. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a description of these aspects based solely on the provided text.
Promotional information is also absent. In fact, the reviews serve as cautionary tales for potential visitors. The experiences described highlight significant concerns regarding the campground's communication, refund policies, and overall customer relations, particularly in situations arising from unforeseen circumstances like the flood.
For local users searching for "camping near me," it is crucial to consider all available information. In the case of Rustic Creek Family Campground, the recent feedback strongly suggests potential problems with customer service and the handling of financial matters related to bookings. While the campground's website may present an appealing picture, the actual experiences reported by these reviewers paint a concerning scenario.
Potential visitors might want to seek more current information from other sources or directly contact the campground to understand their current policies and the state of the facilities post-flood. However, based solely on these reviews, there is no positive information regarding the environment, services, or features to report.
Given the serious nature of the allegations in the reviews, local users looking for "camping near me" might want to exercise significant caution when considering Rustic Creek Family Campground. The difficulties with communication, the refusal to issue refunds or honor credits, and the blocking of customers on social media are all red flags that potential campers should be aware of.
It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not be representative of all interactions with the campground. However, the detailed and consistent nature of the negative feedback regarding customer service warrants careful consideration by anyone thinking of booking a stay at Rustic Creek Family Campground.
In conclusion, while Rustic Creek Family Campground is located in Tunkhannock, PA, and falls under the category of "camping near me" for local users, the provided reviews offer no positive insights into its environment, services, or features. Instead, they focus almost entirely on very negative experiences with customer service, particularly concerning cancellations, refunds, and communication following a flood. Potential local campers are strongly advised to consider these experiences and perhaps seek additional information before making a decision about staying at this campground.

Rustic Creek Family Campground Reviews
Not really sure how to review this campground as we have not been to it, but the customer service is what I will be reviewing. This is my opinion and should be taken as such.We booked with them prior to the flood. We moved our reservation to April of this year-2025.We tried and tried to communicate with them about a booking with no avail. Our friends had booked under their name and we paid our friends. We wanted to support them after the flood and the tough time that they were going through.Well, our friends got blocked and cannot see their FB page. They refused to offer a refund and replied that they will just keep the money. After a long dispute with the CC company, monies were finally refunded.Be cautious is all that I can say.Best of luck and travel safely. Feb 10, 2025 · Jody BatesI recognize that this review may elicit a response from the establishment; however, I hope such a response is devoid of hostility or vindictiveness. It is essential for a business to appropriately handle both positive and negative reviews without resorting to personal attacks against those who express differing opinions. In the previous year, a group of individuals and I made reservations at this campground after thoroughly reviewing their website, which presented the facility in an appealing manner. Regrettably, the campground was adversely affected by a flood, rendering it largely unserviceable. Following this event, one member of our group contacted the campground to cancel our reservation and request a refund in order to seek alternative accommodations. The campground assured us that they would respond promptly. During this interim period, our group contemplated the possibility of maintaining our reservation out of empathy for the campground’s situation, anticipating that conditions might improve. Ultimately, when the campground communicated with us, we decided to proceed with waiting. However, a couple of weeks prior to our planned trip, we experienced a profound loss in the family, which subsequently made travel unfeasible. One member reached out once more to cancel or to postpone our trip. This individual was informed that a refund would be issued. Nonetheless, complications arose when the refund failed to appear on the card; subsequent calls to the bank confirmed that no such transaction had been processed. Consequently, that person reported the issue to the credit card company. An email was sent to the campground, and they were then informed that there was a credit on the account, rather than a refund. One member of our group continued to attempt to communicate with the campground in order to rebook for 2025 but received no response. In early 2025, another individual in our party called, and when they inquired about utilizing the credit for a booking, they were placed on hold. Upon returning to the call, the campground staff asserted that no credit existed and indicated that a refund had, in fact, been issued. The owner or manager subsequently communicated with the person whose card was charged and claimed that no credit had been granted. The owner suggested that they should have pursued legal action against our party for a theft of services due to the reported dispute and instructed their staff to refrain from processing refunds or responding to communications from the individual involved. Furthermore, they stated that only their store had experienced flooding, which is not accurate. They also blocked the affected individual from their Facebook page. This experience has left a significantly negative impression. Our organization has extensive experience with various campgrounds, both in a professional capacity and on a personal level. Consequently, this situation was unexpected and disheartening. While the campground may assert otherwise, the refusal to engage in communication through phone calls and emails, combined with the blocking of a customer on social media to avoid discussions regarding financial matters, reflects a serious lack of integrity. Therefore, I advise potential travelers to exercise caution when considering this establishment.
Feb 10, 2025 · The Bates Motel RVTook our camper out for the weekend. The outlets needed to be fixed upon arrival, but the service was top notch and they fixed the issue within 5 minutes. Great campground for family festivities! There's a Cornhole area, arcade room, snack bar/general store and FLUSHABLE toilets! We absolutely loved our experience here and will be coming back. Had the opportunity to speak with the new owner and he has many great opportunities in store! See you soon!!!
Nov 10, 2024 · Bryan MelliandWe stayed the first weekend in October from Thursday to Sunday. We were excited to find a new place for our annual family camping trip close to home. First we paid in full at time of booking or so we thought. At check in we paid for extra guest and $40 for firewood that was too wet to burn without using a leaf blower to keep the fire going. Told we were good and paid in full. My parents came who are 83 and 87 to visit for an afternoon and were charge $10. When I get home I receive a text from my Discover Card that Rustic Creek Family Campground charged me another $15. I called to get an explanation and was told it was a holiday weekend and there was a clitch in the system and I had a balance. The girl said she would have to talk to owner. I called back 2 days later to find out if she spoke to owner and was told yes and that owner would call me. I called back 2 days afterwards as owner had not called me. Same girl assured me she would call me that day or next as she was extremely busy. As of yet, no phone call and did not receive a refund. We had a group of 5 sites and I was the only one charged the additional fee. Very poor business… WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!
Oct 17, 2024 · Tina GelattMore like a trailer park than a campground. Nothing rustic about it. The jerk next to me "entertained" the surrounding area with his boom box music and the sites across from me were being maintained for hours with a backhoe laying and smoothing out gravel, then some big-a$$ steam roller thing tamping it down. Like they couldn't do this after they were closed for the season? $58 for a site that sounded louder than a construction zone. The dog park was a tiny fenced in area with no latch on the gate and my dogs started itching immediately after they got in there. Such a fuss the place made about rabies certificates but they treat dogs Ike crap. The place was not clean. It was kind of gross. If you're a camper that likes quiet and seclusion. Skip this place. It's disgusting.
