As a valued option within the 'camping near me' category, Smith Ridge Campground provides well-maintained facilities and a serene environment for individuals and families looking to escape the everyday. While it's important to note certain aspects regarding water access and connectivity, the campground's strengths lie in its natural beauty, cleanliness, and peaceful ambiance.
Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of central Kentucky at Smith Ridge Campground. Situated amidst wooded surroundings, each campsite offers a sense of seclusion and privacy, allowing you to truly unwind and connect with the outdoors. Imagine waking up to the sounds of nature, surrounded by trees and the peaceful atmosphere of the Kentucky countryside. The campground is described by visitors as beautiful, with ample opportunity to observe local wildlife and enjoy the tranquility of the forest. It's an ideal setting for those seeking a break from the noise and distractions of urban life.
While direct water access from the campground itself is not available, a significant highlight mentioned by visitors is the proximity to a nearby beach, just a short five-minute drive away. This offers campers the opportunity to enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and other water-related activities with convenient access. While the absence of on-site water access might require some planning for water needs at the campsite, the close proximity to a desirable beach location presents a valuable trade-off for those looking to combine a peaceful wooded camping experience with aquatic recreation.
Smith Ridge Campground prioritizes the comfort and convenience of its guests through its well-maintained facilities. According to visitor feedback, the campsites are consistently described as nice, level, and clean, providing a comfortable base for your camping setup. Furthermore, the restroom facilities are also noted for their cleanliness, an essential aspect for any enjoyable camping experience. The campground's commitment to maintaining a clean and organized environment contributes significantly to the overall positive experience reported by campers.
The peaceful and well-maintained nature of Smith Ridge Campground is a recurring theme in visitor reviews. If you value a quiet and relaxing camping experience, this campground appears to deliver. The absence of significant noise and the care taken in maintaining the grounds create an atmosphere conducive to unwinding and enjoying the natural surroundings. This makes it an attractive option for those seeking a respite from busy schedules and crowded areas.
The camp hosts at Smith Ridge Campground are consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. Positive interactions with campground staff can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, and the positive feedback regarding the hosts suggests a welcoming and supportive environment for visitors. Their presence contributes to the well-maintained and peaceful atmosphere of the campground.
It is important for potential visitors to be aware of certain limitations regarding connectivity. According to one review, ATT cell service is not available at the campground, and phone signal in general is described as minimal. Additionally, Wi-Fi is not provided. For those who rely heavily on constant communication or internet access, this lack of connectivity might be a consideration. However, for those seeking a true "digital detox" and an opportunity to disconnect, the limited signal can be seen as a benefit, allowing for a more immersive and undisturbed natural experience.
Another point to note from visitor feedback is the condition of the trails. One reviewer mentioned that a trail they chose to walk was not maintained. If hiking and exploring trails directly from the campground is a primary focus of your camping trip, it might be prudent to inquire about the current condition of any on-site trails before your visit or consider exploring the potentially better-maintained trails at the nearby Green River Lake State Park.
In summary, Smith Ridge Campground offers local campers a beautiful and peaceful wooded retreat near Campbellsville. Its strengths lie in its secluded and clean campsites, well-maintained restrooms, and the friendly nature of its camp hosts. While direct water access is not available on-site, a beach is conveniently located just a short drive away. Campers should also be aware of limited cell phone signal (particularly for ATT users) and the potential for unmaintained trails directly within the campground. If you prioritize a tranquil natural setting and are prepared for the connectivity limitations and off-site water access, Smith Ridge Campground could be an excellent choice for your next 'camping near me' adventure.

Smith Ridge Campground Reviews
The negative first. There is no water access from the campground. The water isn’t even visible. The one trail we chose to walk wasn’t maintained. If cell signal matters to you. ATT has no signal. The good, the sites were nice, level, clean as were the restrooms. It’s very peaceful and well maintained. Camp hosts were very nice.
Sep 02, 2024 · Dirk LangBeautiful campground! Site was secluded and surrounded by woods with lots of nature around. Beach is a 5 minute drive and very nice. We didn’t have wi-fi and phone signal was very minimal but it was nice to “disconnect” for a change. Bathrooms were clean and owners were very sweet. Will stay again!
Sep 02, 2023 · Lisa WawrzyniakWe absolutely loved our stay! Beautiful campground and the people who run it are so nice! We also got to meet the park ranger and he is very nice as well. They just installed water hookups at every site which is very convenient! They have individual showers outside of the bathroom that are 100% seperate from everyone else which I have never seen at a campground before, but I like it so much more than the ones that are usually in with the bathrooms. We will definitely be coming back here!
May 16, 2021 · Cheyenne CollardOur family met up at picnic area to eat chat before we all went swimming! Other people showed up with a few dogs just running around with no leash. One dog come over and took a big dump right where we were sitting and walking. They refused to clean it up or didn’t understand. When we got to the swimming area the rocks hurt your feet. They don’t clean it or scrape it out for softer sand or ground. Better of going to rough river
Jun 27, 2024 · AccardsOur first time camping here this week. It's beautiful and quiet. Nice maintained green sites. Very nice bathhouse. Staff very friendly. Will definitely be back.
