Heartland Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Campbellsville, Kentucky area, Heartland Campground, located at 278 Heartland Dr, Campbellsville, KY 42718, USA, is one option that may appear in your search. They can be reached at (270) 789-6886 or +1 270-789-6886 for inquiries. However, it's crucial to understand the nature of this campground based on recent reviews from visitors to determine if it aligns with your expectations for a camping experience. The feedback suggests that Heartland Campground may not fit the typical image of a recreational campground.
Several reviewers highlight that Heartland Campground is primarily oriented towards long-term residents and construction crews working in the area. One reviewer explicitly stated, "It is NOT A RECREATIONAL campground," describing it instead as "mostly made up of permanent residents and construction crews." This suggests that the atmosphere and environment might be quite different from a traditional campground catering to short-term vacationers seeking recreational activities and a natural setting. If you are looking for a short-term camping spot for leisure and recreation, it's important to be aware of this primary use of the facility.
The physical environment of Heartland Campground is described by one reviewer as a "gravel lot for campers," rather than a more natural or landscaped campground setting. This lack of greenery and recreational amenities could be a significant factor for those hoping for an immersive outdoor experience. The reviewer who mentioned the gravel lot gave the campground 3 stars primarily due to the "super cheap" monthly rates and the niceness of the owner, Jeff, but otherwise indicated they would not consider it a typical campground.
Further descriptions paint a picture of a campground with a somewhat unkempt appearance. One reviewer noted "multiple dilapidated dwellings," including a "cargo trailer with fans stuck in the door and multiple tarps spread between trucks/trailers/camper." This suggests a lack of aesthetic standards and potentially a less maintained overall environment. The same reviewer also mentioned "zero restrictions to 'camping' there," with some campers looking "uninhabitable" but seemingly parked there due to paid lot rent. This lack of regulation regarding the condition of campers could contribute to a less visually appealing and potentially less safe environment.
In terms of services and facilities, the reviews offer a mixed perspective. The washers and dryers were reported to be clean, and the "clubhouse" was described as "mostly clean." However, one reviewer noted "unpleasant smells from previous nights activities" upon entering the clubhouse in the early mornings. This inconsistency in cleanliness and the potential for lingering odors could be a concern for some visitors.
On a positive note, the owner, Jeff, is consistently praised for being "super nice" and even going above and beyond by hand-delivering Amazon packages to residents. This personal touch and helpfulness of the owner are definitely positive aspects of Heartland Campground. The "super cheap" monthly rates are also mentioned as a significant advantage, particularly for those seeking long-term parking on a budget, such as construction workers or permanent residents.
However, not all interactions with management were positive. One reviewer reported an "awful atmosphere" and a negative experience with the manager, feeling as though they were being treated poorly and arbitrarily judged. This raises concerns about the overall management style and the potential for negative interactions, which could significantly impact a visitor's comfort and sense of well-being.
Another significant issue raised in the reviews is the presence of "cockroaches literally everywhere." This is a serious concern regarding hygiene and the overall quality of the environment. The presence of pests can detract significantly from any camping experience and may indicate underlying issues with maintenance or sanitation.
Considering these reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully weigh the pros and cons of Heartland Campground. The low monthly rates and the owner's friendliness might be appealing for those needing long-term parking on a budget, particularly if working in the area. The presence of laundry facilities is also a practical advantage for long-term stays.
However, for those seeking a traditional recreational camping experience, Heartland Campground appears to fall short. The description of a gravel lot, the presence of dilapidated dwellings and seemingly uninhabitable campers, the potential for unpleasant smells in the clubhouse, and the reported cockroach infestation paint a picture of a facility that is more akin to a long-term RV park than a campground focused on leisure and outdoor activities. The negative experience with the manager reported by one reviewer also warrants consideration.
Therefore, if your search for "camping near me" is driven by a need for affordable long-term parking or if you are part of a construction crew working in the Campbellsville area and seeking a place to park your camper near your colleagues, Heartland Campground might serve a functional purpose due to its low monthly rates and the owner's helpfulness. However, if you are looking for a recreational campground with a pleasant natural environment, well-maintained grounds, and a focus on amenities for short-term campers seeking leisure activities, the reviews suggest that Heartland Campground may not meet these expectations.
Local users considering Heartland Campground should contact them directly at (270) 789-6886 or +1 270-789-6886 to inquire about current rates, availability, and to get a clearer understanding of the facilities and the overall environment. It would be wise to ask specific questions based on the concerns raised in the reviews, such as pest control measures, the general upkeep of the grounds, and the typical demographic of residents. Visiting the campground in person, if feasible, could also provide a more direct sense of whether it aligns with your needs and preferences for "camping near me."
In conclusion, Heartland Campground appears to be primarily a long-term RV parking facility with low monthly rates, which may appeal to specific needs such as those of construction workers or individuals seeking budget-friendly long-term stays. However, it seems to lack the typical characteristics and amenities of a recreational campground, with concerns raised about the physical environment, cleanliness, and management. Local users searching for "camping near me" for leisure and outdoor recreation should carefully consider these factors before choosing Heartland Campground.

Heartland Campground Reviews
The owner Jeff is super nice and it was super cheap for monthly rates which is why I gave it 3 stars. Otherwise…I wouldn’t call it a campground. it’s a gravel lot for campers. It is NOT A RECREATIONAL campground. It’s mostly made up of permanent residents and construction crews -which is why we stayed…husband worked in the area and coworkers were there first so we just followed. We kept our campers close together and kept to ourselves mostly. There were multiple dilapidated dwellings. One of which is a cargo trailer with fans stuck in the door and multiple tarps spread between trucks/trailers/camper. There are zero restrictions to “camping” there. Some campers looked uninhabitable but I guess paid the lot rent so were parked there. The washers and dryers were clean and the “clubhouse” was mostly clean…however you would walk in early mornings to unpleasant smells from previous nights activities. Again, Jeff was super nice and hand delivered Amazon packages and it was super cheap but this is def a place to park to sleep and def not a recreation location.
Aug 02, 2022 · LeeAnna McDanielcockroaches literally everywhere, awful atmosphere, manager had me feeling like i was back in grade school trying not to squirm in my seat too much. AKA she arbitrarily decides certain people are undesirable and makes their lives terrible.
Apr 04, 2025 · Rosen MelatheVery nice people but only good for a day or two. A lot of Amazon workers stay there that you never see. We stay there to go see my brother. Bathrooms are okay and clean. No sport activities.
Dec 01, 2024 · Kathy EvansIt is a very convenient spot. Basically a parking lot with many full timers. Many RVs were run down. But if you have to be in the area it fine. Very inexpensive and staff was nice.
May 15, 2024 · ERIC “Salt2Sand” SMITHPoor Wi-Fi services. Old washer/dryer. Increased prices. Dirty little secrets behind closed office doors. Police came 3 times: not all are nice! Bathrooms no privacy, I never used it after seeing a roach in there. Would not return. You’re lucky I don’t see them after being slandered I don’t know why people draw the bad people but the manager there she’s awful ! And you have to get on your knees to connect water connection deep in the ground! Very disappointing. Because they don’t fix anything. Too busy smoking, taking trips to Michigan to buy to resell. Need I say more!
