Paddle Trail Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a fresh and well-equipped "camping near me" experience, Paddle Trail Campground, located at 805 Legion Park Rd, Greensburg, KY 42743, offers a brand new camping destination right next to the scenic Green River. Having just had its grand opening two weeks prior to the Independence Day week of 2023, this campground boasts modern facilities, friendly service, and access to river activities, making it an attractive option for various types of campers.
One enthusiastic traveler from Minnesota, who stayed for a week with their son, confirmed that the online pictures accurately represented the actual campsites. This provides reassurance for those booking online that the reality of Paddle Trail Campground lives up to expectations. The fact that it is a "Brand NEW camping area" suggests that visitors can expect modern and well-maintained facilities throughout the campground.
A significant feature of Paddle Trail Campground is its infrastructure for RVs. The reviewer noted that all trailer sites feature "concrete pads and pull through," which is a major convenience for RV owners, making setup and departure much easier. Furthermore, the campground offers "FULL HOOK UPS with standard 30amp and 50Amp electric, well placed sewer and water connection as well." These comprehensive hookups ensure a comfortable and hassle-free stay for RV travelers, catering to the needs of both smaller and larger recreational vehicles.
The staff at Paddle Trail Campground also received high praise for their attentiveness and helpfulness. The reviewer mentioned that the staff would "walk the site occasionally and check on you or say hello," indicating a friendly and approachable presence. Their willingness to go above and beyond was also highlighted when the staff personally "delivered" a package to the camper, showcasing exceptional customer service.
The campground's location right next to the Green River is a major asset, offering direct access to water-based activities. While the river was running high and fast during the reviewer's visit due to the county opening the reservoir dam, Paddle Trail Campground does have "kayaks and paddle boats" available for guests to use when river conditions are suitable. This provides opportunities for leisurely exploration of the Green River, adding a recreational element to the camping experience.
The infrastructure of the campground itself appears to be well-planned. The road leading into the camp is "gravel still and a steep, but very wide grade," which suggests that while it's unpaved, it is designed to accommodate larger vehicles safely. The "Campground roads are nice new grey gravel," indicating that navigating within the campground should be smooth and well-maintained.
While the individual campsites did not have fire pits at the time of the review, the campground had "one community one in progress." The reviewer surprisingly "didn't care" about this lack due to two factors: the absence of mosquitoes and very few bugs, likely kept at bay by the lack of standing water and the heat, which made a fire less appealing anyway ("It's too dang hot down here for a fire anyway"). However, the future addition of a community fire pit will likely enhance the social aspect of the campground, providing a gathering place for campers in cooler weather.
Paddle Trail Campground also offers alternative accommodation options with "very nice cabins on the hill overlooking the campground," with an estimated "5 of them." These cabins provide a more comfortable and sheltered stay, potentially appealing to families or those who prefer not to camp in tents or RVs. The elevated location of the cabins likely offers pleasant views of the campground and the surrounding area.
For essential amenities and local conveniences, the town of Greensburg is conveniently located within a mile of the campground, offering "affordable COIN laundry" and "what you need" in terms of supplies and services. The presence of a "decent park with a bike jump track" in Greensburg adds another recreational option for visitors, especially those with children or biking enthusiasts.
The overall impression from the reviews is one of "Small Town camping, big heart southern hospitality," emphasizing the friendly and welcoming nature of the area and the campground staff. The reviewer concluded with an enthusiastic recommendation, stating, "Don't forget to go to LEE'S nearby. Friendly people all around. Happy Camping! Maybe I'll see ya here next year!" This further underscores the positive experience and the welcoming atmosphere of Paddle Trail Campground and the surrounding community.
Another reviewer echoed the positive sentiments, describing the campground as "Clean and kept" and noting that "cabins are nice" and there is "river access for kayaking." This reinforces the cleanliness and the availability of cabin rentals and river activities. The only "dig" mentioned was that "some of the pads are not even close to level," which is a practical consideration for RV owners to be aware of, potentially requiring leveling blocks for some sites.
In summary, Paddle Trail Campground offers:
- A brand new camping area with modern facilities.
- Concrete pads and pull-through sites for all trailer sites.
- Full RV hookups with 30amp and 50Amp electric, sewer, and water.
- Friendly and helpful staff who go the extra mile for guests.

Paddle Trail Campground Reviews
Traveled down from Minnesota with my boy for a week of camping. When I booked online I saw a few pics which completely lived up to the actual sites. Brand NEW camping area. The grand opening was two weeks prior to visit over the Independence Day week, 23. Sites are concrete pads and pull through for all trailer sites. FULL HOOK UPS with standard 30amp and 50Amp electric, well placed sewer and water connection as well. Staff would walk the site occasionally and check on you or say hello. I had to have a package sent here and the staff delivered it to my camper for me. Right next to the Green River. They have kayaks and paddle boats but the county was opening the reservoir dam to maintain water levels so the river was running high and fast. The road into camp is gravel still and a steep, but very wide grade. Campground roads are nice new grey gravel. I was at the site 19. Downside is no fire pit at sites but one community one in progress. Actually I didn't care bc A: there were zero Mosquitoes and very few bugs fires kept at bay. B: It's too dang hot down here for a fire anyway. Huge potential for this place to grow and add. Oh, they have very nice cabins on the hill overlooking the campground, 5 of them I think. Greensburg has what you need including affordable COIN laundry within a mile. A decent park with a bike jump track. Small Town camping, big heart southern hospitality. Don't forget to go to LEE'S nearby. Friendly people all around. Happy Camping! Maybe I'll see ya here next year!
Jul 06, 2023 · Andrew TalleyClean and kept, cabins are nice, river access for kayaking. The only dig is that some of the pads are not even close to level.
Dec 08, 2024 · Dale SearleCan't believe a empty, off season campsite. Nothing special no amenities. 90.00 a night is absolutely ridiculous.
Nov 12, 2024 · Deborah AlpertStayed in a cabin. These are new as of June. Our cabin was clean. For $160 and NO TV. Stove, mircowave, but no silverware. They had a couch and one end table and lamp. That's it. It was just my husband and I but again for $160 and no tv or real seating. The front glass was busted. Just not somewhere I would go again. Maybe if you had your own camper. Way overpriced for what you get. Sorry!
Sep 11, 2023 · Debbie LeachWe have been in the cabins for a little over a week and it's absolutely beautiful so quiet at night. Everyone gets along with each other, amazing staff.
